After a few more moments of the earth rolling and the leaves regrowing, the ground stills and you find yourselves at the outside of a valley. The collapsed tunnels have lowered the ground above them, the grass grew over the space and the trees have covered the mess and illness of what just occurred. Turning around a tree is a large set of antlers, accompanied by a strong elk. Eilc is the first animal you see here, but now returning to the space are other animals. Small birds perching on the vibrant branches, this portion of nature now reflecting the spring that the rest of the region was experiencing.
The sun will be down in a few hours. What do you all do following this event?
Once out of the ground, Miesha too checked first upon the others and then the nature of nature around them. She was prepared to rush everyone a distance away, if need be... But it seems life was repairing itself. Huh. Her next act was to seek out Eilc hoping they fared well while she was away. To her relief the elk was closer than she had even hoped and was returning already. Miesha greets their return with some friendly pats and pets and shows the beast she appreciates their loyalty...
Once some calm has returned to the group, Miesha looks around to the others. "It's not very long before sundown. All looks good here but I for one would feel more comfortable setting up camp elsewhere for the night. Better safe than sorry and all that, eh?"
"And Maggwyn, you have the bag, yes? We should carefully inspect it's contents... But again, that may be better done elsewhere than here. Am I being too cautious? Perhaps, but I see no harm in it either..."
Reluctantly, Crannoc eases himself up and follows the others away a bit to a possibly safer area.
He greets Eilc and the other animals with a smile. In fact, he cannot wipe the goofy smile from his face.
Though the mention of the bag does bring him back a bit. "Just be careful. A fiend's unnatural treasures may carry their own curse."
He is suddenly very conscious of what he just said and Maggwyn's apparent ancestry. I don't think an eye roll is going to fix things if she is offended...
Maggwyn crawls away from the rest once Miesha has helped her escape through the steep tunnel. Her pride is hurt.. she is upset with herself, why didn't she fly up? She looks down to the bag she is holding and wonders if that had any effect on her? She shakes her head, trying to clear it. Glad they at least all got out alive.
She nods in agreement to get away from the area, just in case it decides to collapse as well. At the mention of a fiend, Maggwyn looks to Crannoc with her eyebrow raised, and considers him for a bit. Eventually decides to say nothing and they continue to a spot they all agree on.
Once settled a bit, Maggwyn pulls out the bag, and slowly starts to open it... continuing to investigate it unless something seems off.
Your group settles a camp in a safe clearing. Searching through the bag you find a thick tome with a cover like withered flesh, numerous strange components for alchemy (ranging from powered bones to vibrant leaves in strange hues), a green crystal ball that is roughly palm sized, and a twisted spike made of sturdy metal.
After settling into their latest camp site Jasper looks at their treasures with disappointment, the lack of shiny bobbles evident immediately as Maggwyn empties the bag. He does get around to a ritual casting of Detect Magic eventually, just to get a bit of a sense of each item.
Jasper also approaches Maggwyn and says "apprentice, you have performed well." "With my recommendation I'm sure your 'sisters' will welcome you home with open arms when we return to..." He looks around at this strange forest. "...well just about any civilized place, really." "Then you will be my sister as well and no longer an apprentice, but do not let that deter you. My sword and I will still have your back. I will even still let you accompany me on any quest that you wish!"
Jasper - Your spell reveals the book and some of the ingredients to be faintly magical, the crystal ball to be more magical, and the spike to be very magical.
Crannoc - Settling into a small camp for the evening, you sit for a moment in the renewed wilderness. Some time ago, you weren't sure you were on the path that Temuth deemed right. Now, you're quite sure. Seeing Temuth's gifts all around you and feeling even more empowered by their blessing, you know that Temuth is encouraging you, smiling upon the path you've chosen.
In the fading light, Crannoc once more performs his now somewhat familiar Speak with Animals ritual. He tries to converse with as many different types of fauna as he can, asking the relatively more social ones to encourage their friends to re-populate the space so that nature may thrive. Asking them also if they have noticed any other disturbances, or... he has to remind himself to ask this... movements of large numbers of two-legs like him nearby.
Once done, he continues smiling beatifically, addressing the group: "Whether it was your goal or no, you have done Temuth a great service in restoring this place to its deserved wild grace and ridding it of the hag. I do not know that the treasure we gained here is compensation enough, or if the woman Birgon(?) back at Aoswell might perhaps know what it is. I know that the metal spike is evil - my vision showed it being driven into the ground to befoul this place to start with. Perhaps there will be other fiends to fight, or one day this Horned Lord. But know that I am committed to help any of you in your quests as you have helped me in mine."
He gives a sincere-looking but very strange bow of respect, parts of it looking comically almost like a wolf or a big cat stretching.
Miesha mostly just rests and enjoys the tranquility. It was a fun enough scrap but fighting underground like that was a bit confining, just felt wrong. She prefers the open air where one can truly stretch out and their accomplishments are there for all to see. Anyway, it was time for rest. So she enjoyed it as all good soldiers know it may not come again nearly as quickly as you’d like.
“Our pleasure, Crannoc,” she answers when he thanks the group. “We work pretty well together, I think. I could see ya doing great and glorious things… Gold and fancy rewards will come, in time.”
You may distribute the items found as you see fit, but assuming that you have all rested, you all wake and chat over a hardy breakfast. The conversation turns to the question of where your troupe will go next.
None of the hags items are appealing to Miesha. She does suggest we could perhaps sell some of it to Cheddar’s friend back in town. “Though that thorn seems a nasty piece of work,” she adds. Then, turning to Crannoc, “perhaps we should just destroy it? If we can…”
Maggwyn looks at Jasper, seemingly considering his words. Then she lets out a loud guffaw, as if what he said was the funniest thing she had heard in ages. She looks back to the items in her hands. "If we're looking for more reward, we could take these things back to the town and see if the apothecary owner is interested. Also, I wonder if the vote or whatever political thing was going down there is finished or not? And while there we could ask about this Horned Lord."
Still glowing from the small victory the group has achieved, Crannoc is easy going when it comes to a destination.
"I am happy to return to Aoswell if there is no urgent hunt elsewhere. The Lonsvells there seem worthy pack leaders, and the apothecary Birgon was impressively knowledgeable. Though I do think, pending her advice, that we likely should destroy the spike. I just do not know how - I could try to call Temuth's power to Dispel Magic, but that is a large expenditure of divine magic and may yet not work. Especially if there is a curse."
"Breaking things often breaks them as well, but we can worry about that back in town where we're not concerned about wasting resources and such" Miesha notes. If there are no other suggestions it seems a return to Aoswell is in the cards.
Your party sets out for Aoswell once again that morning, with a pleasant few days of walking ahead of them. At noon three days later you reach your destination. The town looks just as it did when you left it a week ago. The town is buzzing with two pieces of news: that Vara Lonsvell is now the mayor of Aoswell and that Sir Brodstin is a South Vexcall spy.
Where do you go?

Does everyone agree with the decision to return to Aoswell? The journey would be slightly less than 3 days long.
Jasper is happy to return to Aoswell and suggests that he and Maggwyn go look for their type of 'work' in a larger town or city after that.
