Gerty checks out the campsite with her friends, a look of concern across her face. "We can't just leave them here like this. We should give them a proper burial after we see if we can find whoever did this. Can you imagine if these murderers were headed towards our village? anyone have a clue as to which way they might have gone?" she acknowledges the worry about the animals, "Maybe a couple can stay behind, bury the dead and watch the animals while the rest of us try and locate the killers?"
( they were not camped when ambushed, they were traveling. There is no camp to check out, unless you set one up)
"So, the sun is getting low, perhaps set up camp here then." Sasha says, going to collect her sheep and move them over to a nearby meadow. "So who will stay and who will go? And do we go now or wait til morning?"She asks the others as she gets back.
Luke getting impatient with his friends scurrying in different directions, while he tries to keep the animals from wandering, calls to them "It's getting late. We really should make camp somewhere not here before it gets dark....We need to be able to see what's coming in case the bandits try to ambush us"
Aaron weighs his choices for a moment staying silent, then shares, "Perhaps we can do both. I know it's kind of gruesome, but what if we stay near here for the night? That way we can both watch over our livestock, and if there are any threats out here, maybe we can bait them into attacking us and we can return the favor. Doesn't look like we have much light left for travel as it is. If they do attack us, we should aim to keep them alive if possible. What do y'all say?"
Luke shakes his head "We need to find a large area for all the animals and wagons to set up camp. We can't park here and clog the road....near the scene of the blood bath....I dunno I don't like the idea of waiting here for the next attack"
(Definitely getting close to dinner time here too, Aaron's appetite is inspired by his player's! 🤤)
"You make a good point Luke - I want to help these poor souls find justice, but us camping out near them might lead any passerby's to believe were to fault. Let's try to find a nearby clearing, set up some traplines and call it a night. Maybe we can get lucky and find a clearing up the road. Firstly, though - let's bury these folk to give them peace and so no vultures get at them. They don't deserve that."
You finish burying the deceased and move up the road a bit further to a nice open prairie section where you can set up camp. You are able to get situated just before the light goes from the sky and the stars take up their duties.
( let me know how you arrange your camp, what you do for the animals, etc. also your order of watch if you have one)
(If possible Aaron would also use rope to tie trip lines at ankle height between the wagons. That way, anyone that tries to enter between the wagons might trip.)
You all eat some dinner, double check the animals are settling in-between the wagons where you can keep an eye on the, and head off to sleep. Gerty sits up at the fire, looking up to the stars and out into the darkness of the prairie. Listening intently to the sounds of the sounds of this wild place, and keeping a sharp eye on the surroundings.
William goes and checks the chest, using his rapier to poke around.
Investigation: 16 (rolled in game log)
The chest has been cleaned out of any thing valuable, there are few remaining pieces of clothing, a rolled up peace of parchment with a piece of ribbon tying it closed some other papers that have been torn. From the few fragments you can see they were inventory sheets or orders of some sort. It seems these folks were in the business of tin smithing
The rolled up parchement is something else right? William will open it (and Acjots will read all those posts he missed).

The Suns creeps ever lower in the sky and dusk is upon you.

"Ooh, trickery, I like it." Sasha says to Aaron. "Perhaps we could set some kind of trap even?"
Here is the map for where you are at. Each red dash is approximately a mile. The green circle is you. Top of the map is north
We are sandwiched between mountains and an open area?
(OOC: It's hills I think, not mountains, but yes, if you can get sandwiched by an open area. ;-)
( 😂 I’m cooking dinner and have food on my mind. Ok so ignore Luke’s need to find open space since we are near it)
Yes, it is hills, and buttes and rocky outcroppings
Make me samich…lol

(I'm guessing we would station the wagons in a circle and try to keep the animals inside the circle. Tie the horses up to the wagons. etc. etc. 🤷♂️)
(If possible Aaron would also use rope to tie trip lines at ankle height between the wagons. That way, anyone that tries to enter between the wagons might trip.)
Gerty can take the first watch
