At the sound of the bame, all eight doors swing open at once, revealing little, as the space beyond each door is flooded with magical darkness, through which darkvision cannot see and which even magical* light sources cannot illuminate.
(its D&D 5e, so at a certain level of spell, this statement becomes untrue, but I won't state what that level is as i dont think relevant at the moment. It's pretty high.)
After traveling about ten feet, Tetrevess emerges from the darkness to see a vortex of glowing stars hanging in the air inside the next chamber, slowly rotating on its axis. As the constellations move, they cast radiant starlight across the walls. Eight high-backed chairs, each bearing a different arcane symbol, face this starry miasma.
Tetrevess looks at the chairs, and decides to sit in the divination one “I’m not really preferential to any school of magic. But divination calls to me at the moment…. Let’s see.. “
“High Diviner Apius, I, Humble servant of the Arcane Arts, Tetrevess, request permission to sit in your most honorable chair.” He looks at the starry constellation, scratching his long brown beard, and waits to see if anything happens. “Maybe should use a language other than common- this is older-“ (he repeats it in draconic).
The swirling star field represents the cosmos as it was known to the Netherese.
As Tetrevess studies the star field, he sees a strange phenomenon: a dark star in a position where no known star exists today. He now risks being cursed with a foreboding sense of doom. At the end of the character’s next long rest, Tetrevess must make a DC 20 Intelligence saving throw.
At the south end of the hall, a 10-foot-wide passageway leads to a locked double door
There are four other open archways around the room (see map below)
Tetrevess recalls the eight apprentices were:
High Abjurer Taruth High Evoker Zadulus
High Conjurer Damorith High Illusionist Ajamar
High Diviner Apius High Necromancer Cadavix
High Enchanter Ivira High Transmuter Metaltra
Edit: and Sam is unaffected by a glimmer of arcane light washing over his scaly skin.
<you can all recall thus info based on that success, maybe your PC asks and T replies. Its all good.>
“Start with the abjuration door, maybe?” Tetrevess approaches the door cautiously, and says “Taruth”.
he steps back to see if anything happens.

See T success sam says “damorith”
All the doors are still open.
“Well… who wants to go first?” Tetrevess smiles, then decides to walk into the darkness of the abjuration door. “I’ll let you know what happens. “
(Tetrevess still has “Crown of stars” up, I believe. Which is a high level light emitting spell- not sure if that works for this?)
Angus CON Save 10
<Crown of stars is a 7th level spell. Not high enough.>
Angus passes into the area unaffected by the glimmer of magic that washes over him. (DC was 17)

<anyone following T?>
“It’s ok.. meaning I’m not dead yet!” T calls out to the group
<they can hear T, in case there was any doubt.>

“Hmm. 8 chairs and 8 doors. Maybe I should go for the chair that matched my door instead…”. He waits before deciding.
Sam follows a bit on edge enters the room “well this looks interesting”
Sam is attacked in the dark by a barbed devil
