Crimson Sands of Time

Randy's attack grazes the beast, but does nothing to impede the creature, who is unmoved. (Legendary action:) The creature begins to change shape, with rivulets of shadowstuff falling away as it reduces to a huge, large, and finally medium size. All the while it remains bipedal, but it becomes more upright in posture, more humanoid, taking on a more familiar aspect until its form resolves in sharp relief. The still monochrome monster now otherwise appears exactly like Ethan!

<I also think it's better to just tell you the target DC for the Int-based skill checks to disable the sepulchers (3 successes while touching it) is 15. Mostly it's eating an action. >

<noticing I changed rhe font to blue by mistake on the lower warlock. It should say 'Tyrant' in red. Assuming you can see color ok, not with darkvision, you shouls be able to tell the difference between the two.>

<edit again to clarify, there's light, im just saying if you did something like cast darkness and rely on devils sight, you'd have a bard time telling one from the other, unless you're Ethan, in which case you are pretty sure you are you. Weird edge case thoughts im babbling about there>

<Waiting on Tetrevess, but while we wait...>

From an adjacent wall of the tetrahedron, a small object begins to float upward toward the center of the room. As it rotates, it's features glint in the light cast by the everburning torches throughout the room.  The jewels set into the sockets once filled by eyes and teeth make clear what this creature is.  You are face to skull with a demilich, who speaks to you telepathically: "You are not of Thay! How do you come to find the Phylactery vault? Are you loyal to Szazz Tam?"

The demilich doesn't seem to care that your locked in a psychic battle with the Tyrant and the tyrant (who looks like a shadow Ethan) doesn't immediately take notice of the demilich.

 See above. Save = 23.

While you're thinking about it, Eira changes back from her bear form and casts [Tooltip Not Found], creating a circle of flames (opaque, 20ft high and 1 ft thick) around the dark Ethan. DC17 for ½ of 24 fire damage

Trisk blusters and flusters, stepping forward and swishing his wizardly robes and cloak in an overly dramatic fashion.

When the little girl, Piccolo sees the Lich, she opens her mouth, and if she had a voice, you are sure she would be screaming.Her body shaking violently, tears streaming from her eyes, fists clenched in anger so tightly that you see blood dripping from the nails of her hands biting into her flesh, and from her mouth where she bit her tongue.

Trisk blusters and flusters, stepping forward and swishing his wizardly robes and cloak in an overly dramatic fashion.

Seeing Trisk suddenly go into a berserker's type of rage (albeit not really when he glances a second time), Randy's armour begins to glow even brighter in response as he performs a reloading animation.

"We're not afraid of anything that you throw at us, bozo!" Randy snarls, temporarily adopting the mindset of a general scolding his platoon for failure. "Listen up! I don't know if you're the lich trying to hinder the whole of Thay. I don't know if you're the real bozo that will move onto the Sword Coast and take advantage of the problem me and Ethan are dealing with over there either. But right now, I need you to fess up! Stand on the wrong side of good and evil, and we won't hesitate to wipe you out! " His rather aggressive expression does not change even as he then reaims his bayonet at the sepulcher on his right. "Or... I can smash this and then  let my brother smash the one on the left... and then let someone else smash one of the pillars south. And we can take things from there. You have been warned!"

The demilich replies "This is the Doomvaukt of Kazit Gul.  Szazz Tam may rule Thay, but this beauty if a dungeon is mine.  Under Tam's rule, outsiders such as ye have been scarce. Too few to sustain a lich through the completion of his masterwork. For thee, have I this offer: my aid for but one soul to feed my Phylactery. I shall aid this coup of yours and set about the opening of my Doomvault once more to the wider populous of Faerûn. All I ask in return is a single soul. Do we have a deal?"

The girl composes herself and plays a mocking flat tune at  the Lich, her hatred not concealed from the others

<I kinda need a yes or no. Hostile NPCs are up and you just told this lich you're here to destroy what tethers him to this mortal coil,  so he's definitely not neutral. I just don't know what side he's on until players decide.>
