Sam sees gravity “ahh their you are, thought the clocks got you dead to writes” his body language changes from time to time “I’m guessing you been updated with the circumstances of the group” he has a pause then moves them away from the group but still inside the house “lremember that time we’re I asked for your flame toung weapon well whilst I got arrested and put into a gladiator area I have lost it and it’s willed to Angus to collect, but theirs a weapon not like mine that I was gifted visions for but a sword that the wizards have hear well is we’ll needing a new owner”
Gravity doesn't like the feeling of being soggy from head to toe. As soon as she finds herself inside the apartment she starts shaking her body along with the soaked woolen sweater to get rid of excess drops of rainwater, deliberately ruining the carpet of the floor in the process. "What is this place? And why have you brought me here?"She asks Zehira while folding her arms in front of her and staring at the woman suspiciously.
When she hears the familiar voice of Sam, she begins grinning from ear to ear. "Golly! How did you manage to stay in one piece?" She will remove the half-soaked sweater, then try to find a couch or something to sit on. "So you're finally talking Sam, what else do you know?"
<I actually meant to finish thst thought but I fell asleep and then I've been busy all day. Srry.>
**Ussa is appalled by Gravity's actions, "I don't know where you hail hail from, miss, but around here it's considered rude to handle other's property uncarefully." Remi intercede "I'm sure she meant no disrespect. Adventurers come from all walks of life. Sometimes thise differences can be the virtues that count the most in time of need."
Zehira fields the question: "You've been marked as mages outside the Cloaks. Something has brought you here and the Thayans know nothing of you for now, save that the lizard there is a mage. One among your number was pinched, but they still don't know much more than thst she's a mage and that you lot are her associates. Bottom line: we need to know what the szazz Tam knows and we need to get that weapon from them. We haven't even told Ussa where Remi and I are off to, it's not safe for everyone to know everything, bit I assure you it is necessary. Morwena is a known associate of D'arlon Ma and if she is caught liberating these artifacts from the embassy, the separatists will invite the full wrath of Thay, something for which they are woefully ill-equipped to survive. That is why we need your fresh faces to complete this task. "
<*sorry for the patchwork conversations out if irder..order... everyone is hearing this, Gravity included.>
Morwena continues "I belive Szazz Tam has been aware of it for some time, exploring the elemental rifts here in an effort to locate its source. The stones Tyreus found, all chips of that great one in the lake, eith their ability to make illusion real. They seem to have originated from a place, a kind of ur-forge where all that is manifests, a point of creation for everything. If this place is real. If it csn do what we believe it can, the implications are unsettling and amazing. Neither you nor I want Szazz Tam to find it. Thst is why this mission is so important. But we believe others have been made aware, thst is why I alone will remain in the city while Remi and Morwena must depart tonight."
After all the conversational jumping around, sorry about thst, truly.. NPCs can field questions if you want them answered. But if you're planning on meeting the thieves guild. Just pick up from here:
You're in the west market, you've been here before. It's the appointed time to meet ussas contact. You were to buy an ice rose (iirc).
Angus will look for a florist, at at the first one he sees, he will purchase a single frostrose. He will place the change from a gold piece (having previously hidden the rest of his money in a neck pouch inside his armor) in a belt pouch that is not too firmly laced.
Amid the shuffle of commerce on the busy road of the West Market, a man pushes a wagon loaded with wares, a mobile kiosk, onto the street, right in front of Angus. As others walking with him change course to avoid the lumbering cart, Angus feels something brush against him.
Feeling for his coinpurse, he is unsurprised to find it gone. He spies a man in a dark green coat lined with fur, weaving his way theough the crowd. He isn't doing snatching to draw attention tion, but he js moving through the crowd faster than the flow of pedestrian traffic. He turns onto the enext street and Angus follows, but the alley is empty. A door accessing the alley from an adjacent building stands slightly ajar.
Gravity will gleefully join the group of adventurers since she's found a new job that might bring her money and joy simultaneously. During the lazy stroll through the bustling crowd of the west market, she keeps bragging about her latest encounter with the infamous group of ruffians known as the 'Wolfbrothers'. "Sam, they were equipped with heavy armors and deadly weaponry, almost like a brigade of hungry wolves. But, they didn't stand a chance. Luckily, Ms Zehira had intervened before I could knock them out one by one."
"Anyway, I have created a new infusion for Tetrevess, but I think you should equip it. It's dangerous to stay unarmed."
<im counting all of you as together and grouped, even though Angus uo specifically the one the theif was targeting. Looking for a shifter and a lizard in disguise is harder to describe to a contact than a human who always looks human and wears a distinctive symbol.. which I actually don't know the appearance of. Not sure there is a canon answer to that, either - but many folk in the game world would know it.>
<minor retcon. Forgot we had a Red Wizard in the group for a moment. Ussa would have informed Chadderly that the Theive's Guild is unhappy with the Thayan occupation (a very common sentiment in thr city, but not universal) and advises him to lay low for the meeting. So, "lay low" could mean stay out if it, just remain nearby or farther, either way. It could also mean disguising yourself as non Thayan. If you opt for the latter, describe what you might do to hide your Thayan roots.>
Angus sees a man waiting in the dimly lit building. He tosses something to Angus. It's his coinpurse- the figure who bumped him gleams from the shadows.
"Reckon you dropped that." Calls th voice. Thr habd thst tossed thr bag of coins has two rings on the same eponymous digit& of his right hand. "Buying a little something for a special lady, were we? What the occasion? Dinner? I tell you this, friend, and hear me well: a serenade- no woman can resist it. Make her feel.like the center of attention. Can you carry a tune, lad? I wouldn't say I got a voice like velvet, but when I'm out by the water and that sea air in my lungs, I tell you, I can belt a shanty, bring a tear tonyer eye. Least that's what both me sisters says anyhow."
Angus not being fluent in Theive's Cant, recalls from the time he spent chatting by the fire with Tabaqui, the elven rogue, as they braved the High Moor, some of the unusual things he would say, sort of living in the language, as it were.
Angus: roll investigation to try and discern what this guy us talking about.
<I'm assumimg Sam and Gravity are coming with Angus, let me know if you're not. >
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
(I was thinking Chadderlay might want to go seek out Tetrevess).
Investigation 11
Angus tries to understand what the thief is communicating, and to remember the instructions Ussa gave him.
"That is fine advice, sir, but the rose is for my aunt. She is expecting a visitor, you see, and she sent me to the market to seek a gift. I don't suppose you could offer assistance with that?"
It's a public record, so if you want to know where Tetrevess is and haven't found out yet, you just have to go to any of thr hundred or more contract scribes in the city. She's in the Cloaks, so asking at the Tower of Arcane Might (commonly rhe Tower of Cloaks) would be tbe most obvious th8ng to do if you wanted to.
Angus is aware that the theif is asking for payment. He's not quite sure how much he expects though. The theif said something about being by the docks, but it's unclear if that means this city (local) or outside (how would a local think of the docks? The former would mean 'minimal casualties', the latter implies 'silver'). Theives' Cant is weird like thst. 'Two sisters' could wither mean "200 silver" or that there are two different guildmembers involved somehow.
One thing is clear as a bell: the reference to singing means the man is offering to trade information. Angus also notices the man using his thumb to fiddle with the twin rings on his right ring finger as he mentions the song. He wears another ring on the adjacent to little finger of the same hand, but doesn't touch this as they converse.
Gravity keeps shadowing the movements of the paladin (Sir Angus) till he decides to halt somewhere particular. She does so by wading through the flood of people... stepping on their toes to hear them exclaim or respond with profanities... nudging some of the good-looking males with her elbows. Her intention is to trace the route that's been taken by the pick-pocketer and following Angus might be the easiest way to do such thing.
Since she doesn't have any idea about the colloquial languages of the fellow scoundrels, she will make an erroneous assumption regarding the topic of conversation between the paladin and the stranger.
"Ah, I've been looking for someone who can provide me with dating advices, I believe your sisters are quite knowledgeable too. Do I have to pay a fee for the first visit?"
Replying in the understanding that Grsvity is keen to the people's prose, if a bit clumsy in its ply, the man in green responds, "Ah, me sisters are fine lasses. Buy still wet behind the ears in the ways of the heart. Neither knows what she herself wants in a paramour, from what I see. Doubtful they'd be much help to you."
(Based on Angus' previous roll, for expediency (it's a "success") he understands the reference to younger siblings means gold pieces, 100 per sister. Of this, he is certian.)
<These are acrual rules I'm parsing. I'll share them after this bit, but yeah TC is a trip. This guy did just decatuple the price for you there. So, is somebody going to pay him something?>
Chadderlay will use the time Angus and the others spend meeting with the thieves' guild to visit the Tower of Might and inquire as to the whereabouts of Tetrevess.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
"A rightful place awaits you in the Realms Above, in the Land of the Great Light. Come in peace, and live beneath the sun again, where trees and flowers grow."
— The message of Eilistraee to all decent drow.
"Run thy sword across my chains, Silver Lady, that I may join your dance.”
— A basic prayer.

Looking around to at least superficially see that he is unobserved, Angus (and anyone that is with him) will enter the alleyway door.
