"Looks like there is a door up ahead," Vars says, reaching to his pack for a torch. "If any of you have torches, I would suggest letting those in the back carry them, otherwise we'll blind ourselves. If no one has one, we can use mine."
If someone wants his torch, he'll hand it over before continuing towards the door. As he walks, he keeps an eye out for signs of traps as best he can with his dark vision--if no one has lit a torch yet. To those who rely on dark vision Vars seems to suddenly blip out of existence as soon as he goes deep enough that the outside light doesn't penetrate anymore, if no one lights a torch.

Vars scans for traps and such as he moves towards the door. Not being entirely used to his new found dark vision he misses the subtle outline on the floor a few feet in front of the door and steps on what appeared to be cobble stone but in reality was a thin false floor which breaks underneath him.
Vars, roll a dex save to avoid falling into the pit.
Sparhawk, just behind Vars, senses he's there, but he seems to fade out of view. "Vars?" Sparhawk whispers. "You still there?" He will also keep on eye out for traps and hidden doors, (and Divine Sense) Perception: 16 with dark vision (until someone lights a few torches.
Just as Vars steps onto the false floor Sparhawk notices the outline, but Vars had disappeared from his view as he calls out to warn him of the trap.
Sparhawk’s alertness and athleticism pays off and he grabs Vars before he falls 15’ into the dark pit. Looking down Vars can see the skeletal remains of several others who were not so lucky as he. There is enough room around the edges of the pit to get around safely and the space directly in front of the door is clear and solid. The door is fairly plain, but well constructed of oak planks, with an iron lock and door knob.
Bjorn decides now's not the time for mockery, and instead gestures to everyone to be quiet. He whispers, "my ears aren't what they once were." He mimes being slapped, by way of explanation. "Someone have a listen?"
Meanwhile he brings out the thieves tools and hands them to Vars, arching an eyebrow. "How are your nerves?"
"Lets have Frangipani cast that useful spell on whomever tries to open this lock. Also a good listen would be advised as Bjorn mentioned, unless you have some little friends on the other side of the door?"

Vars stares down the pit for a moment before saying to Sparhawk, “Thanks, I owe you one. How about we light a torch now?” He takes his torch back from him ever took it (if anyone had excepted it in the first place), and lights it. Holding it up and to the side so he can still see ahead of him he glances down the pit again before turning to Bjorn. “Well…I can’t say this is the first time I’ve nearly fallen to my death…though this is the first false floor I’ve missed. Honestly I’m still getting used to having dark vision…” He trades the torch for the thieves tools.
”Now, let’s hope we have better luck with this then we did with that blasted chest.” Before trying the lock, he attempts to turn the doorknob just in case it isn’t actually locked. If it doesn’t move, he shrugs and says, “It was worth a try.” Then he kneels down and starts working on the lock.
"I have your back just as I know you have mine. You owe me nothing." Sparhawk smiles at his resourceful friend. "Now, if there was a carpet on that floor, I would have attacked it immediately!"
Sparhawk looks down in the pit at the victims to see if anything looks recoverable and if there are any spikes, poison, and for cause of death.
Frangipani crept up behind the person trying the lock, blew softly on the back of their neck then sheared off and swallowed a chunk of their hair with her serrated teeth.....oh, and cast Guidance.

Can’t see any spikes, but in the flickering of the torch flame there does seem to be many thing moving about under and in the the skeletons. You would need to go down there to pick through the bones in order to find anything, if anything was there to find.

Dex check: 23
Vars tries the door knob and it is indeed locked. He easily picks the lock, it is much less complicated than the one used on the chest. He opens the door and finds a chamber approximately 15’x25’

Vars flinches a little and his hand shoots up to the back of his neck as he turns to see Frangipani behind him. "What the..." He rubs the back of his neck where she'd apparently eaten off some of his hair. He gives her a flat look, but at this point knows better then to ask why she'd done that.
As the lock opens easily, he smiles, "Well, here we are." Pushes the door as far open as he can and peers inside--this time paying closer attention to the floor.

(If Vars fails dex, Sparhawk will try to drop his sword and try to grab him as he is falling (5ft away).
Dex save:26
(athletics check to grab Vars before he falls in?)
Frangipani was startled out of her reverie by the sudden flurry of movement, she leant forward and cast Guidance on Sparhawk as he moved.
Sure, but it will be at disadvantage due to the distance and you not being able to see him clearly. Frangipanis guidance should help a bit though
Sparhawk, seeing the trap as Vars takes a step, drops his sword and tries to grab him: "Vars!" (Athletics plus guidance) 16
(Not sure its gonna work on the dice roller, disadvantage 1d20+6+1d4)
Plus Guidance (1d4)2
(17 total on the roll with disadvantage if it worked right)
