Out of nowhere the Imp appears and shouts “ what did you do!? Poor master Abernath.” As he run over to the body and hugs onto him crying…he looks up at all of you and begins to say something accusatory when he fades from this plain. Another rumble and some rocks begin to fall from the ceiling and the stream picks up volume.
As you head back down the tunnel into the main chamber, the rumbling and shaking is getting worse, bits of stone falling from the roof here and there. You can see the situation down the south western tunnel towards the jungle is the same. Seems like the whole tower or at least this segment might come crashing down. As you get closer to opening of the cave the smell of flowers, and other vegetation greets you.
Sparhawk seeing Lir look a bit uncertain, "So Lir, What exactly did you see out here?" Sparhawk continues to look for any clues that could get them back to their original destination
(OOC: I'm assuming we are in a different climate, jungle where before, we were getting closer to winter I believe).
If no enemies in sight. Sparhawk will stop for a moment. He had made a copy of the Map in Abernaths home in the hidden room. "Lets take a look at this map and see if we can get our bearings."
Lir scans the scene ahead for signs of the monstrosity - perception: 24
You don’t see the beast, but you can smell him. The trees where he emerged from the jungle are ripped from their roots and there are large, deep prints from where his feet fell, leasing to the cave entrance.

( here is the humid, jungle climate, the northern cave was leading to an ocean environment, and you didn’t check the south-eastern tunnel)
"So....unless I'm mistaken, we are in Chult" Sparhawk points to the tower on the lower left corner of the map. "Interestingly, we are supposed to come here with Dietrich Thornston in a few weeks to help him search for another artifact."
He looks to the group,
"We can either find another teleport way back, or perhaps find a town here and sail back. Based on what I saw in that cave, when Abernath's demon died, his magical system may have been destroyed with him, but I don't have proof of that yet."
Any thoughts are welcome, we need to be smart about our next steps."
(OOC: I think Thornston gave us a scroll of some sort that can send him a message, maybe?)
Frangipani looks ecstatic to be outside, she can smell the ocean, the air is humid...everything around her is alive.....she didn't even regret not sampling a bit of Abernath...she was fairly sure he would still taste like goo-monster...
" Lets just go. Big hairy man can't be worse than oozy-flesh-thing."
She casts Water Breathing on everyone just in case they want to stay in the collapsing water cave and chat...

“Ok crew, time to go. Which way?”
Frangpani has no issue with just tosing the book, or is overly bothered by the water until she remembers that not all of them can breath underwater.
" Lir, way out with the hairy man? No water?"
“Or if we can find a tapestry or another invisible wall like in the chefs cave. Look quick”

In the north tunnel you are in, there is nothing but rapidly filling tidal pools and sea life that goes with it
"Alright crew time to go, Lir, take us out of here!"
Sparhawk prepares to follow
If there is an opportunity, he will try to "lose" the book.
Lir sighs. "Great....big....ape thing!"
Shrugs, leads the way back along the tunnel out to the jungle.

The map from Abernaths home:
Sparhawk pulls out the map (POST 1093). (Can we pull that up now here?)

"Big monster. Giant ape. Six arms."
Shrugs as if to say - that not enough?
Taps his nose. "Can smell his stink."
"Or was it four arms... forewarned is forearmed!"
Lir smiles brightly, a sickening expression, at his attempt at a pun.
He wracks his brain attempting to identify the monster - Nature 18

You have heard stories of such creatures but never seen one until now
