Frangipani will Shape Water constantly as they move along to try and make the path easier and supplement their water supply.
Frangipani’s efforts pay off and allow to most just over the 1/2 pace you would have been restricted to. You make 4 miles this first leg rather than 3, and your canteens are topped off nicely. The clouds remain heavy in the sky and you don’t have the benefit of the moons light, but the relatively unobstructed landscape is fairly easy to navigate for you.

You pass by a small rock outcropping and after the 3rd person walks by 3 swarms of angry bats come pouring out of the gaps between rocks and immediately attack the group.

Round 1:
Bjorn cries out in surprise and finds his weapon swinging automatically at the illuminated bats in the Moonbeam. He gets his wits together just in time to cast Green-Flame Blade, which sputters and flares in the dark. 14 for 5 magical slashing damage and 3 fire damage. If there's another swarm within 5ft of that one, the second swarm takes 10 fire damage.
He ducks and takes some steps away from the rocks. "Begone! Gah!"

Bjorns attack does a good job at hitting the bats as they escaped the moonbeams powers, leaving only a few left of that swarm, the flame jumping into swarm 3 as well
"Well, at least we have your cheery disposition Bjorn," Sparhawk smiles cleaning off a few crushed bats from his morningstar. "Yuck...."
As they trudge through the dark mud,
"Now that we've had a few days, anyone have any ideas what I should tell Dietrich? Our goal is to get to civilization first. But we still have the job with him if we want it. Could be, we find other options here that are more desirable. I'd also like to let Irongrass know that we completed our mission."
"Aye, I've an idea. We should bill him for every day we've been stuck here. After all, we're doing reconnaissance or some such." Bjorn yawns. "I daresay we're working all through the night."
“Hum…” Sparhawk seems to seriously consider Bjorns suggestion. “I believe he is paying us by the day. He may have things we can do prior to him arriving”
