The big man smiles, “Yes yes, revisionist history for sure but just trying to look out for our best interests. The sea is near the port. I dare say I’ll be happier there”
As you close up the tube with your letter, you will notice some of the Arcane symbols on its exterior change from red to green, then the 1st and 2nd symbol turned black as the color fades. You notice the third symbol looks the same as the first, but all the others symbols are more complex and different
"Very handy device. If we're lucky, we're on the clock and getting paid to trudge through this mess as we head to port."
Sparhawk feels fortunate that they had this item. He does have some misgivings regarding Dietrich's task. He's not sure running into storm giants would fair well for them.
You finish up the third leg of the days journey just before dawn, without any other unexpected disturbances. You get to where The lake drains into the river, the water finally visible and relatively clear of the ash. The area going forward is very wet and marshy for a few miles that you can see and the landscape ahead returns to jungle.
As you rest through the day, the moisture from the ground rises into the air in humid steamy fog. There is quite a bit more animal activity than you have seen since entering the valley, including birds, varmints and bugs. Lots and lots of bugs.
About midway through your rest period, a return message appears in the tube and all the Arcane symbols go black.
" that is very good news, good job on getting to Chult in advance. very impressive. Worth the 50gp per day as promised. Make your way to the port and I shall meet you there in a few weeks. Once you contact Volo, he will have more information for you. We have successfully exited Luskan. The danger there is very high. The wizards are hoked up in their tower with a magic barrier. Some devious fellow came to town, presumably from Mirabar. Had access to some powerful magic. And took over Kursks position and killed the other Ships. Mr Fists head is mounted on the front gate...I heard the boat's name is Grin'Dal or something. He is guarded by a minotaur made of bronze. I dont know what his plan for the city is, but I doubt is a pleasant one. We will talk more in person.
”Well Bjorn, the good news is we are getting paid.”
He shakes his head, “however, Grindal has taken that artifact and taken over the city of Luskan. Fist is dead, the wizards are holed up in their tower.”
”Wish we could have stopped Grindal, but he was probably too powerful.”
“Agreed, but I would have like another crack at that Apple eating poison arrow guy and we lost friends on our path” thinking of the contentious Vars and Sorsha.
”Luskin was a powder keg of power hungry factions. Well, since we are being paid, let’s map and document the beings we encounter for the baron”
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
You continue your journey having had a good and peaceful rest, avoiding the hot day. The night is still steamy, but tolerable. You find an engineered trail between the lake and bog allowing for a relatively dry walk.
( I rolled all 3 segments of the day, but if you wish to do anything on any particular leg, post it and mention the segment)
On the 2nd leg of the evenings walk, you find yourself at the junction where the lake becomes river. There is some lingering fog and near the shore you see a small row boat crashed onto some rocks. There are several broken crates littering the shore near the boat.

"Hey, take a look at this crew. Lets look for traps first, then see what's in these crates." Sparhawk will look for signs of an ambush or traps (Perception?: 12

" But why would we want to leave? This place is great! Well....this one valley aside."
" How much further to the ocean?"

(Plan is to follow the river North, and perhaps stay right on the light green/ dark green line as we move up if that is the fastest.)
Frangipani is very enthused by the new terrain.

- The Baron"
Sparhawk smiles but seems troubled.

He shakes his head, “however, Grindal has taken that artifact and taken over the city of Luskan. Fist is dead, the wizards are holed up in their tower.”
”Wish we could have stopped Grindal, but he was probably too powerful.”
He shows the group the letter.
"Perhaps we can return there and save the day."
"Minotaurs. Hm. Demon shock troops," Lir's tone is awed and admiring.
" Don't go back to Luskan. No problem."
Bjorn laughs. "It don't feel like it, but this little trip to Chult is a stroke of good luck. We were planning on fighting that guy."
