Garth has been content to follow along with the other's investigations. They've done a better job than he could have done, and seem to have matters well in hand, but as he encounters the repeating runes on the corridor he frowns. "They sure liked these symbols."
He turns to the orcs and then to Javier, "Any of you got any ideas what they mean?"
"Well, Hlin, let's keep going. Maybe keep an eye out for a change in the pattern? That might give us a clue to something? Otherwise, other than onward, I am not sure what else to do?" Belkaria looks down the tunnel to the right, with a bit unease, but determination.
From the back, the orcs say “What the hell are all of these runes? I have no idea, let’s get going! The cage awaits us!”
You see Hlin walk forward and after about 15 yards, you hear a faint click and see the floor drop away. A 9 foot by 9 foot section in the floor opens up and you hear Hlin groan at the bottom of the pit. She takes 5 points of bludgeoning damage from the fall. There is a stone slab on either side of the pit that has dropped down, opening up the floor to the pit. There is a slight whirring noise, in 15 seconds or so you see the edge of the stone floor start to rotate upward very slowly, trying to lock back into position. Hlin, you are lying on the bottom of the pit, Garth you are on the edge of it, looking down at her. Norak calls from the back, “Is there a problem up there? What’s going on?”
Salamir as you quickly examine the pit trap, you can see that at the front and back edges of it, there must be large hinges underneath . It is trying to rotate back into place and reset. You feel that if you could quickly shove something into that gap, to wedge it open, it would keep it from closing. The whole trap looks to be 10 feet across and you feel with a running jump that you could clear it (unless you were really weak). You don’t see any other activity in the passageway.
Salamir and Garth, you successfully wedge the gap open with the piton, preventing it from closing and resetting. You throw a rope down to Hlin and Norak steps forward to help hold the rope, brace it so that Hlin can climb up and out. You thought that you heard “Weaklings” come out of his mouth under his breath, but you aren’t sure as you see him brace the rope and help to haul Hlin up and out of the trap.
Norak directs a couple of the orcs to take a running jump across the gap, they do so without a problem and they look at you from the other side. “How are you going to get across? What do you want us to do?” He’s standing at the edge of the pit and turns to you, looking at Salamir and Javier with an appraising look. He actually reaches out to Salamir and feels the size of his bicep, saying, “Not strong enough to make it?” He give you a grin.

Norak gives a grin and says “Ok, hop on”, pointing to his back. He backs up 10 feet and then makes a tremendous leap across the gap. Give me an acrobatics check to see whether you hold onto him.

Belkaria laughs at the sight of Salamir on Norak's back, now that Hlin is no longer in immediate danger. She backs up 10 feet to do a running jump, and launches herself over the hole, clearing 11 feet. Using her tail for balance, she turns to make sure the others are ready to jump as well.

Hlin once up again also takes a running jump across the gap. Covering 16 ft. "Its not a weakness to ask for help" She waits for the others before proceeding now keeping a more careful eye of her surroundings.

Once the trap door is opened and Hiln falls, Javier gets startled jumping back a foot or two before rushing to the edge as others help. He watches in admiration as his allies begin jumping over the gap, he thinks for a moment unsure if he can make it on his own... (Can he try to long jump and then give himself a boost with his telekinetic shove for an extra 5ft?) "erhm I'm not the most athletically inclined my friends perhaps you all can catch me or does someone have a spell or rope that we can use?"
The portion of the feat reads as follows:
As a bonus action, you can try to telekinetically shove one creature you can see within 30 feet of you. When you do so, the target must succeed on a Strength saving throw (DC 8 + your proficiency bonus + the ability modifier of the score increased by this feat) or be moved 5 feet toward you or away from you. A creature can willingly fail this save.

Garth waits until all have crossed before he too attempts the jump. It's not courage or nobility that drives him, but the need for a clear run-up and people on the other side ready to help if he misjudges the landing. He watches as all the others go and offers rope to Javier if he wants it, suggesting that -- if he does want to use it -- he should throw the other end to those waiting on the other side.
Garth Acrobatics: 16 (he can jump 10' so he needs to time the jump and footsteps exactly... )

Salamir follows along, also looking at the runes and wondering what they might mean.
”They weren’t very imaginative, just the few repeating. It’s quite monotonous”, he pipes up, not really having anything meaningful to add.

Hlin continues onward since none of the runes seem dangerous so far at least.

Hlin slowly gets up "That really hurt. Can I get some help Garth?"
"I guess we can't say we weren't warned", Salamir says as he tries to peer around Garth down the hole.
"Let's see if there is a way to stop these slabs shutting", he adds looking around for a way to disarm the mechanism and stop it from trapping Hlin.
"Someone keep an eye out for those evil servants".

Salamir digs into his pack and retrieves a piton, then attempts to jam it into the gap.
”Might need some help crossing, but at least Hlin isn’t trapped”, he says if it works.
Garth will offer any assistance he can to Salamir in his efforts to jam the trap and free Hlin.

"Our strength lies up here", Salamir replies pointing to his temple with a grin.
"And if you are so strong, it shouldn't be a problem if I hop onto your back, hey?", he adds with a wink.

Salamir does as instructed, hops up and grips as tight as he can, ducking his head for fear of hitting the ceiling.
