Garth's first slash cuts deep into the first suit of armor, a good hit. The second slice nearly hits but clangs off the armor with no damage apparent.
The suit of armor takes another couple of swipes at Belkaria, trying to slam her with the claws at its side.
First slam : Attack: 23 Damage: 7, Second slam : Attack: 8 Damage: 6
Norak moves forward, taking out his huge notched great axe as he does so. He has enough movement to move behind the suit of armor, and he attacks with two mighty swings.
Great axe 1 : Attack: 15 Damage: 5
Great axe 2 : Attack: 17 Damage: 13

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Belkaria groans as one of the attacks hits. Norak's first overzealous swing goes wide, but his second one connects solidly, severely injuring the suit of armor. It does not seem to react, it keeps pushing forward, seemingly oblivious to the pain. Groans and the sounds of metal clashing ring down the hall.
Javier's turn!

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Seeing as his first spell didn't work, Javier changes tactics as three balls of energy well up in front of him. He casts magic missile with two darts going at the one attacking Belkaria and the other going to the other foe: 3
The second, southern suit of armor is lying in pieces on the ground, already destroyed. So all 3 bolts of magical energy slam into the northern first suit of armor, nearly destroying it. Significantly weakened but not deterred, the suit of armor keeps trying to press to the west, but an invisible hand appears and pushes it up against the northern wall. It remains encircled.
Salamir, Belkaria, Hlin you are up! The armor appears severely damaged, finish it off!

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Belkaria’s blow is enough to drop the suit of armor to the ground. All is quiet in the hallway again. Ysee’s javelin pierces the fallen armor for emphasis. “Good un!” the orcs shout, excited at the defeat of the magical suits of armor, they are looking at them wide eyed.
Combat over!
Erk and Durrik remain trapped behind the portcullis. Norak kicks the now lifeless suits of armor, saying “Good job.” He walks back to Erk and Durrik and pulls on the portcullis, to no avail. He says to them through the openings “You stay here, guard our back, make sure no one gets past us. We are going to get that cage and we will figure out how to get out of here.” He turns back to the group and says, “Ready to move on? These puny bird men can’t stop us…”
There are no further runes on the ground in this section of the passageway, you just see darkness in the northern and southern alcove where these were hidden. About 30 feet ahead you see a passageway that leads north, the corridor goes on ahead straight for about 50-60 feet and then appears to turn south.
((Who is marching in front now, confirming marching order and where you would like to go?))
Salamir watches Belkaria finish off the second suit of armour and sheathes his rapier.
When Norak suggests heading on, he remains cautious. "I am not sure it wouldn't be better to rest a little", he says, fully aware as to what Norak's response will be. But he wasn't about to put them all at further risk just to avoid mockery by the large Orc.
"I for one could use a little time before we encounter any more traps, or hostile puny bird men", he says feeling his injured shoulder, and casting a glance over the others to see more than one with injuries.
Garth draws a breath and leans against a wall. "Aye, a rest is in order. But first..." he straightens up and looks toward the portcullis. "...we should see if we can raise that thing."

Javier sits next to the armor to see if there are any runes or sigils that would cause them to animate. Investigation/arcana: 9
“A rest would be nice…. I’m running low on spells and if we fight more of these armors, my usefulness might be limited.” He eventually moves to help with the portcullis: Investigation: 14
Javier, you are able to tell that there was significant arcane power that allowed these suits of armor to animate, the arcane energy must have directed the suits to approach and attack any intruders. You do see a few runes imprinted on the back side of the armor, but you are unable to translate them. All power is gone from them, they lie inert and broken on the floor now.
When you turn to look for a mechanism to raise the portcullis, you are not successful. The two orcs on the other side stand in a guarding pose as instructed by Norak, and they shrug their shoulders.
Down the hall, the passageway ends in a cave-in when it turns south, but before that there is a passageway going north into a larger room. Looking into the room, you see no movement, there is a pedestal that you see in the center of the room. The hallway leading to the room with the pedestal is approximately 30 feet long.
What would you like to do next, a short rest? Where would you like to do that?

Garth rubs his wounds after failing to find anything at the portcullis, "Let's rest here. That way, if more come, our friends on the other side can at least shoot...or warn us."
Belkaria stands near the opening to the next room, "If you guys need a rest, I'll wait here to make sure nothing else suddenly animates itself and attacks. Let me know when you're ready to press on!"

Javier sits down and takes notes, transcribing the runes on the armors. He uses his arcane recovery to regain a spell slot. "Belkaria, are you sure you don't need a rest? I can have my familiar keep watch for us.. How should we proceed? Perhaps the next room has a switch to open the portcullis? I'm happy to take a look in a short moment."
Upon finishing their rest, Javier would stand towards the front of the group sending his familiar to scout the room for any traps: Familiar Perception - 19 Stealth: 10

He then helps whoever is closest to him that is searching for the mechanism.

Belkaria looks gratefully at Javier, "You sure? That would be great, cause now that you mention it, yeah those armor suits did get some swings on me."
She sits down with the rest and dresses her wounds.
