Since Bayrith's a studious person I assume he would know that defacing or rubbing runes off would be an effective way to make them inert without using dispel magic.
"As I said before, I'm not too sure on what effect the runes will have on those in the sarcophagi or on us, but yes I believe I can disable them if that is what we want. It is, correct?"
Bayrith looks at Rosado and says "Perhaps I should deal with the arcane matter good dwarf.."
Bayrith walks carefully back to the runes. He looks back subtly towards Rosado to see if hes watching and then takes his dagger and just scrapes the runes off covertly, all the while using Prestidigitation to make it look like hes doing something "magical" to remove the runes.
As you scrape off the rune, there's a feeling of calm and respite that washes over you. You start to think that this might be a good place to rest for a while. You also note that a feeling of dread and unrest coming off from the sarcophagi that you've only just now felt is fading and slowly but surely disappearing.
Bayrith turns around after his work with the runes and looks towards his companions. "Did anyone else feel that? As soon as I was done with the last rune I.....well I don't rightly know how to explain it, but I felt a calming of sorts." Bayrith finally noticing how tired he is walks back to his group. "I think we're safe from whatever the Runes were doing, what would you all like to do now?"
Narstin, the sarcophagi seem to be really well made. You readily notice that the stone used to make them is so finely made that there are no visible seams at all for where the lid and the base meet. On the top, you find that whatever pigment paint was used to design the figures etched into the stone has long faded and turned to dust leaving a faint and incomplete shadow of what it once was.

"Aye, Me think that this the same magic that makes people in town sick"
Rosado scratches his head "Maybe some goo' ol' sword can destroy that bloody magic signs?"
I dont think your blade will have much effect my friend

Rosado gets impatient "It works or nah?"

(Do we feel it?)
Yes, the feeling of calm and respite washes over everyone within the room.
I felt it too. Narstin wanders over to inspect one of the sarcophogi from closer up, though he doesn't touch it yet.

Rosado steps next to Narstin "Ye think we should open them?"
Narstin shrugs. I'm not even sure where the lid starts.
OOC: are there any other paths past these two rooms, does the hallway continue deeper?
Yes, the hallway seems to still go further in.
Lets move on then
Laissez les bons temps rouler
Let’s see what’s further down the hall. We can come back here if we don’t find anything Else.
Bayrith will follow behind whoever is leading down the hall.
