Lazarus would awake and every fiber in his being was pushing him back down to go back to sleep but seeing as he didn't know what time it was or how long he was actually out, he willed himself up. And to his great discomfort, he would hover his hand over one of his still pulsing wound as he moved. Not wanting to touch it and gods forbid, make it any worse. He would look to his wife with a smile and run her shoulder. "Wakey wakey." He would say in a low voice.
After they had gotten up, Lazarus would head up to the top deck and cover his mouth as he yawned, the other covering the direct sunlight from his eyes. All in all, it was a nice sleep for being on a boat. He would notice Bosko, Sunitas and Markus and raise his hand in a wave "Mornin'!"
"Thank you Bosko, they look delicious." Not thinking they were magical in nature, she simply popped one in her mouth before green eyes widened at the full feeling it automatically gave her. Keeping this in mind, she pocketed the second. It was excrutiating trying to get the arrows out of Lazarus without causing further damage, though Sunita's advice helped a little. She was able to get some water and cloth from a sailor in exchange for mending something of his so she could better help clean and clot his wounds. Once they were done and laid down, the half elf wasn't sure who would fall asleep last. She knew the pain had to have been keeping him up but likewise she was constantly listening for a hiss of pain or a hitch in his breathing and avidly trying to not think about how close that zombie had come to beating her to death... But eventually she fell asleep to the soothingly familiar sounds of her husband's light snores.
Perhaps due to the stress of the previous day, Alyndra didn't wake before Lazarus this morning and was stirred from her drooling slumber from a gentle touch and soft words. "Mmmh?" The wizard grunted intelligently, eyes blinking open before squinting up at the firbolg shaped form getting up from next to her. While Lazarus could simply get up and go, Alyndra preferred her morning routine, taking time with her ritual ablutions, brushing out her tangled hair, making sure her clothes weren't dismal in appearance and wiping off her spectacles before finally emerging to where the others were. She was still getting her "sea legs" as it were, and so ended up tripping with a wave as she entered the Mess area, arms windmilling to avoid falling onto her face. "Ehe.... Morgen."Walking over to the rest of the group and asking, "How's everyone feeling?" Sitting down next to Lazarus.
Markus still tinkering his different "toys" joins the conversation.
"A shame we didn't explore the ghost boat, I'm sure we would have found some nice treasures. But, strategically, fleeing was the good option. I don't think we would have survive another spectre."
Giving a soft still somewhat sleepy smile at Sunita's reply, she nodded. "Much the same." Before her smile fell a little at the question. "We'll be alright. Both came a bit too close for comfort. And my back is still killing me though I'm not entirely sure if that's from that...zombie or simply the ship's lovely bedding. But we're here." She smiled confidently at her spouse, hand on his knee before reaching for some food.
Groaning at Bosko's wording she swallowed hastily before declaring, "Let's not invite hoardes of evil to come poke at us, hm Bosko? Expect the worst and be pleasantly surprised when you're wrong. Then the worst that could happen is that you were overly prepared." The wizard nodded wisely, taking several gulps of water. "A raise doesn't sound bad though. Pirates I was expecting. Undead ones I was not."
Shaking her head as Markus continued to wonder about the ghost ship, the half elf tried to console, "Whatever treasures might have been on there were probably cursed anyway." Seeing not much food on Lazarus' plate, she did him the favor of loading up more on any meat available and of course biscuits, his favorite.
Lazarus would nod his head and point toward Bosko as he would mention getting paid more for the trouble. "That sounds like a great idea but at the same time..." He would let his finger drop slightly as he would continue. "Were the terms and conditions all that clear from the start?" He would take a small bite of a loaf of bread and then looking at the food that his wife would pour onto his plate. He would smile and grab one of the biscuits and take a large chunk out of it.
After finishing off the biscuit, he would then continue "If that is how things are going to be, I think we should at least ask about a better compensation. Coin or gear wouldn't be asking for too much for lives, right?"
Gathering in the lower deck, you fill yourselves on the helpings of biscuits, dried meat and fruit and fresh water that's stored in barrels, along with some of the other crew, although many of them come and go, grabbing bites to quickly shove into their mouths before returning to duty. The ones who linger are very tired, having stayed up all night, and are on their way to catch some sleep.
Diego remains in his cabin during the entire morning. As you head up to the deck, you see that the day is sunny and bright, with a clear blue sky and a steady breeze that's filling the main sails and pushing the Sea Spirit alongat a fine clip. The bow of the ship just a fine line through the water as it travels across the open ocean.
The captain sees you and says, "Tis a good day for sailing! We've passed the Twinward Isles, and should be arriving in Palma Flora late this afternoon. Long as the wind keeps up, which it should."
"The weather's better than we had last night. I gotta say, without you, the ship and all my crew woulda' been lost, so I can't offer you enough gratitude for your help. You're a brave bunch, that's for sure. I've had plenty run ins with pirates in my time, but nothing like that. Heard stories 'bout ghost pirates, but I always though they were just that... just stories. I know what I saw last night, though, and they weren't no regular pirates. I don't feel good knowing that the captain got away, but we had ta make a break and put distance 'tween us and that cursed ship. I could say I hope that it won't be bothering any other ship captains no more, but I ain't so sure that's the truth. Either way, we're all in your debt for making' sure we didn't get overrun."
Listening to her husband's thoughts and then Bosko's, Alyndra spoke up after swallowing a mouthful of food, "Probably best if we wait to haggle until after the job is done."Leisurely enjoying the spread of fruit along with dried meat and biscuits, she was one of the last to finish her breakfast and follow Bosko up to the deck after she was unable to pressure Lazarus into eating any fruit. Still, she was able to catch what the Captain said and she gave a crooked smile before joking, "It wasn't as if we could have asked them to stop attacking while we re-negotiated terms. I'm just sorry your sailors didn't all survive. And that some of the bastards got away."Her tone turning more serious, still ill at ease and remembering acutely that the undead Captain had dove underwater while they retreated and they hadn't seen him since. "Definitely something to warn other ships about once you make port, I imagine."
Grinning at Bosko stating that he felt like he earned his very captain themed hat, Alyndra nodded and offered a salute. "Does that make you our captain? You're not a bad leader." At the bugbear's musing about fishing, the half elf nodded. "Afraid it looks like that friend. I'm sure there will be plenty of opportunities for fishing once we hit port though. I'm probably going to practice for a bit and then study, unless the sailors need us to do anything."
By practice, Alyndra intended on finding a nice flat corner to herself and take out her still safely sheathed dagger and surreptitiously Adjust her own Density. Moving through a series of stretches and simple flowing poses and slow strikes with normal gravity at first, then heavier gravity and then lightening it, feeling how it was to move in each and how to was to feel the stretch of the Weave around herself. Occasionally pausing in a wince as her back twinged with discomfort and she stretched against it to help, attempting to keep her balance on the sailing ship.
The Sea Spirit sails at a swift pace across the relatively calm waters, making good time throughout the late morning and early afternoon. By mid afternoon, the captain begins giving orders for the crew to prepare for arrival. By know, Diego is up on the main deck, enjoying the sunshine and the refreshing breezes in anticipation for the ship to arrive in Palma Flora, and hoping that there will be no more delays.
He's been there many times, and so he briefs you on what you'll find there. You learn that the community of Palma Flora occupies the southern tip of the Vezdali Peninsula, and is a favorite vacation destination for merchants and Zhelezo from nearby Port Damali. While this settlement is small, it's famous for its annual shark hunting tournament and a popular cocktail that bears the settlement's name.
Most tourists are familiar with Flora Isle, which is home to the port and a shimmering beach. Most vacationers stay in the Riptide Inn and Tavern, sipping on fruity drinks while watching the shark hunters practice on the southern shore. The island is separated from the rest of the peninsula by a wide channel spanned by a wooden bridge. Most residents of Palma Flora live and work in the northern half of the settlement and retire to the southern island after a hard day's work.
By late afternoon, you finally catch sight of land off in the distance.
Bosko listens with interest to what Diego tells them about Palma Flora, having never been there himself.
"Sipping fruity drinks on beach nice change from fighting almost dead pirates", he says with a rumbling chuckle.
When Sunita asks about the fishing tournament, he replies with what he knows, which is actually very little.
"Not sure about fishing tournament. We paid deliver Diego and barrels. Now we see what tournament about. Not think will catch shark with rod though", he says holding up his fishing rod and once again chuckling. He seems in good spirits now he has spotted land and knows the voyage is nearly over.
"If they allow hunt in clan, we should give try together", he says looking hopefully at the others. He has never hunted a shark before, although he has seen their fins in the water many times before and wondered what they looked like and how big they were.
The hour passes quickly, and you can see more details of this small resort town and it's seemingly quaint and friendly beaches. The crew and captain prepare for arrival, and then finally, the Sea Spirit docks, and Diego meets up with you as you disembark.
"Ahhhh!! We made it! I love this place, and I know you're going to love it too! I really is the perfect place to relax and rest up after a journey across the water, especially with the commotion that we experienced last night."
"Which, of course, brings me to your payment. Well deserved, I would say. I myself remained locked in my cabin during the whole ordeal, but I have been told that were it not for the brave actions of the five of you, the ship would have been taken. So, you have indeed earned your passage and your fees for protecting my cargo, and my personal thanks as well for a job well done. I will be sure and let Jorge know that our investment in you was very well placed."
"Officially, your work is done! The local help will offload the cargo and get it to the Riptide Inn and Tavern, which is where most folks stay when they're vacationing here. You're welcome to stay as long as you wish. There are boats that go back to the Feloinn twice per week, and more often to Port Damali. However, if you do find yourselves back in Feolinn, I'm sure that Jorge would love to see you again!"
With that, Diego extends his hand and gives you your pay: a small bag of coins, 500 gp total.
As Diego joined the rest of them up on the upper deck, Alyndra had finished up her stretches and was jotting down a few notes in a separate small personal journal before gazing out into the waves, her charcoal pencil twirling between the fingers of her right hand absent mindedly, showing that she was fairly dextrous or at least had nimble fingers. Until the pencil went clattering onto the planks of the deck, causing her to scramble to grab it up before it managed to somehow slip overboard. Seeing a look from Lazarus she stuck her tongue out at him, able to hear his lovingly naggy voice in her head saying, "Pencils, pens, ink and parchment don't actually grow on trees for free, ya know." All without him actually uttering a word somehow.
Sidling up along Bosko's other side parallel to Sunita, the half elf concurred, "I'd welcome sand in places I'd rather not have sand in than deal with them again."As the discussion drifted to the fishing tournament and hunting of sharks, Alyndra chuckled awkwardly, picking at some peeling skin on her nose, "I might leave that to the more physically capable of our "clan". Not sure I'd be of much help. How does one catch a shark anyway?"
The closer they got to the port, the lighter she felt, without any help from her Graviturgy magic either. Practically bouncing on the balls of her feet as they waited for the plank to be set out so they could disembark. And they got paid finally! She might have briefly forgotten about that key detail. But as Diego mentioned ships back to Feolinn or Damali, Alyndra inquired, "Do you happen to know how much it is for passage back?" Always preferring to know her options.
A hundred gold.... Think of all the ink and parchment she could buy! Or maybe even a book or spell scroll.... Though that might be asking too much. Alyndra didn't even consider reaching for the heavy pouch, accustomed to Lazarus handling their finances and much more skillfully (and occasionally more wisely) than herself. Leaning against her husband she looked at the rest of their group and asked, "So....since we came together and all... Do you want to look around together too? Maybe just a bit longer?" She wasn't buying into the "clan" talk that Bosko touted. Lazarus was all the clan she needed. ...But she had to admit that it was nice having the security of a group to fall back on.
Lazarus would awake and every fiber in his being was pushing him back down to go back to sleep but seeing as he didn't know what time it was or how long he was actually out, he willed himself up. " Well rested, actually....", Sunita said sounding a little suprised.
" Hows hubby?", she said quietly to Alyndra. " And yourself? That stupid corpse almost had you."
"I good. Wondering what this day bring. After yesterday, could be anything", Bosko says with a shrug.
"Hopefully not bad again", he adds between mouthfuls of breakfast.
He takes a look around for their employer, to see if he up and about.
"Might be can haggle more money? Fighting not quite dead worth more?"
Markus still tinkering his different "toys" joins the conversation.
"A shame we didn't explore the ghost boat, I'm sure we would have found some nice treasures. But, strategically, fleeing was the good option. I don't think we would have survive another spectre."

Bosko finishes off his breakfast in a couple of big mouthfuls.
"I not want go on board other ship. Great risk", he says shaking his head.
"Not sure Diego give more money. He not big boss", he adds regarding the extra payment. "Guess do job good, and see".
He looks to the others to see how they are getting on with their breakfasts, and will head up onto the deck when they are all ready.
Sunita stowed away a goodly portion of food and began checking her weapons over and repairing her armour as best she could.
Gathering in the lower deck, you fill yourselves on the helpings of biscuits, dried meat and fruit and fresh water that's stored in barrels, along with some of the other crew, although many of them come and go, grabbing bites to quickly shove into their mouths before returning to duty. Bosko listens to the captain, scratching the back of his neck with a furry hand. He isn’t used to such compliments.
”Not expect fight almost dead when took job. Rather not fight again”, he says in reply.
”Glad could help”, he adds looking around at the sailors.
”Finally feel like earn hat”, he says with a chuckle as he takes of his tricorn hat.
He looks up at the bright blue sky and smiles, it is a far cry from the fog that brought the ghost ship, and it puts him in a good mood.
“Guess we go too fast for fishing”, he says with a frown.
He looks about trying to decide what to do for the remainder of the voyage.

" Permission to snooze, Captain Bosko, Sir?"
The Sea Spirit sails at a swift pace across the relatively calm waters, making good time throughout the late morning and early afternoon. She stepped onto the dock and looked around at the sights and sounds, enjoying the sun and smell of the ocean.
