The dwarf at the bar has red hair with touches of grey and wearing chainmail with a shield and warhammer on his back. In his red and grey beard, there are 10 gold coins with holes through them that are threaded through his beard locks. He wears decent looking clothing and appear to be moderately well-off financially, not only by appearances, but through the expensive drinks he has on by his plate.
He sees the half elf (Sarros) sit by him at the bar and nods in acknowledgement, but doesn't say much. "Evenin' friend."
The bartender sees the Triton (Zephyros) demand service and is fairly skeptical as he perhaps has not seen a Triton before, but remains professional despite being slightly put off, "Very well sir, but do you want a single drink or bottle? Prices are listed on the menu..."
To Grol he breaks out the brandy, but asks, "A single shot or bottle, sir?"
To Ban, he says after you firmly state you're not with the Triton, "Oh... Yes, I see. Well madam, that depends on what you're trading."
He motions to the half-drunk dwarf sitting at the bar with his eyes. (You get a sense from his tone that he could possibly mean trading "unique" goods)
To no one in particular, "So...you all must be the new group that just came into town with the slaves from the Isle of Despair. News travels fast in a small town. We heard rumor of that place for years. Nasty place by the sounds of it, but if you all indeed saved them then you all must be pretty brave or possibly foolhardy. I guess the two go hand in hand. Either way, an admirable feat to say the least. Rest assured any who choose to stay in Kerbin will be well cared for."
(Remember the symbols on the platinum bars were dwarven in origin)
OOC: to speed things up a little bit, just pay for whatever you want and the bartender will serve it automatically, whether it's food, drink, or a room.
A few minutes after entering the bar and placing orders, you see Biscuit enter the Blue Oyster. He orders a lager and he says to you all, "Quint sent me, he says that the ship is in dry dock and repairs are commencing However, we will need to secure payment before we will be allowed to leave...a fairly substantial amount he told me."He drinks his lager and continues,"He wanted me to remind you that we'll need rooms while we're here since we can't sleep on the boat in dry dock. Anyway, he stressed the importance of trading our...haul. Repairs were said to take at least 3 days."
The dwarf and bartender minds their own business, being in a neutral trading town, but do give slight hints of interest from their body language.
Zephyros orders a dwarven brandy and sits at the bar. He will position himself in the center of the bar. "Three days on land what a most wondrous time this wilt beest! So what doth thee doth on land!? Walketh or Runneth around!? This drinketh is quite digestious giveth me a bottle, cometh new cousins drinketh with me! Alloweth us enjoy the flush air and land beneath our feet? Thee thither with the weird eye drinketh with me and telleth me of thy land journeys? doth He will order a new bottle and pour drinks for the other patrons and himself. He will ask the bartender if they know of any nobility in the area that he might introduce himself to? "Doth thee knoweth of any nobility in the area?! I am a Zephyros Agosath noble Triton lord of the deep sea. I would to introduce myself to the nobility of the land."
Seeing the elfish human at the bar "Thee thither elfish human, art thee a elf or art thee human?! I can't telleth?! What befall to thy eye wast t done in battle?!"

"You're right, we're the very same. As I'm sure it doesn't surprise you, it costs a lot to find the hero bus'. With our ship nonop, it's all business." Taking a spot next to the dwarf, Ban will casually spark up conversation. Seemingly simple conversation, while weaving in intermittent thieves' cant, she's looking to sell the platinum bars of dwarven kind. Ordering a dwarven ale as to indicate the tone as a gift. Rather sell to a dwarf who'd appreciate the craftsmanship. If he doesn't respond appropriately, it's just friendly conversation and she'll get up and pay for a night's stay.
Sarros responds to the dwarf with the coins in his beard in kind. “Evening.” Sarros replies. “What’s the news around here?” Sarros would like to try and recall the meaning of the coins woven throughout his beard. History 24
His interest peaks when he hears the bar tender talking to the new group of adventurers walk in, smelling of sea salt. The large triton speaks to him in an old tounge about his eye. “More Elven than human.” He replies. “My eye is a reminder of someone I wish to return the favour to some day.” He says across the bar. “My search for him has led me here, I seek a worthy group to persue him with.” Sarros says this openly to the new tough individuals who just entered.
OOC: Please remember to deduct your purchases from your CS, refer to the price list. As always, we are all adults and are still on the honor system so please keep track yourselves.
(You also are all able to hear conversations between each other, so no worries about metagaming.)
To Sarros, he says, "News? Fairly quiet fishing town, so not much goes on around here unless you're interested in the latest catch or wild fish stories about the big one that got away. Although I know of a unique place nearby about a day from here that is said to hold some wealth. Just not able to go by myself, likely to be dangerous for one. Oh well, at least this place has half decent dwarven booze. Courtesy of yours truly."
The bartender replies to the dwarf, "Oh come now, you've been telling that story to the whole town and any stranger who walks through my door. There's no gold, treasure, or anything of the sort nearby, my friend."
The dwarf replies rather sternly, "Go ahead and be satisfied with mediocrity then. I know for a fact that such a place exists! It's a shame no one has the guts to go fetch it with me."
You believe from studying dwarven culture that some dwarves sometimes affix coins into their beards to show two things: their noble lineage and pride in being successful traders.
Judging from this and his attire, you believe he is probably a minor noble and a savvy entrepreneur.
To Zephyros, the bartender appears to be slightly confused, but still serves your bottle. "Nobles? Not that I know of. It's just a simple fishing town. The closest thing would be the mayor, who was elected to his position, but I don't think he's a noble. Not that it's my business to know anyway."
(You notice the dwarf seems fairly well off financially judging from his attire and equipment. Whether this indicates if he is a noble, you are not sure.)
To everyone
With your passive perceptions, you notice the dwarf at the bar ever so subtlety turns his head towards Zephyros upon asking about nobles, but quickly goes back to his conversation with the half-elf patron at the bar.
Ban
Are you actually showing him one of the bars, telling him about them, or just getting a feel if he's even willing to take them?
"Oh, thee sayeth this mayor person is thy elected to rule!? Strange... Thee thither bearded human telleth me more about this land treasure!? Eke I would needeth thy best room barkeep!"

Since a few of you have showed interest in his treasure story and since Ban asked about the platinum bars found earlier in the adventure, the dwarf says to all of you, "Platinum bars made by dwarves? Hmm...I would have to see it to believe it. I've heard rumor of a lost minor fortune of my dwarf cousins, but no one had any real leads on what happened. I would be willing to take them, but two problems. One, which is easy to solve, I need to actually see and inspect *all* of them to make sure they are legitimate, which I'm sure you understand. Two, and the hardest part, if they are what I think they are, no one will simply have kind of coin on them. Even if they did, the risk is too great. Hear me out:
As I'm sure you overheard, there is a cave system North of here that I *know* has treasure in it, I just need help retrieving it. What I propose is this, and it's to our mutual benefit. Help me retrieve the treasure horde out of there, all of which will be yours to keep. In exchange, I will take the bars off your hands. The reality is you have major contraband and if you try and sell those bars to anyone in any major city, you'll be jailed immediately and likely for a very long time. Only one condition, any dwarven artifacts in the horde—I keep. Ultimately, I'm not interested in mere gold anyway. Anyway, what do you think?"
(If you all wish, Biscuit can go retrieve the bars and bring Og with him for security, but this town doesn't appear to have any ruffians or bandits, so there is very little risk of being robbed.)
OOC: TL;Dr version - he is willing to take the contraband bars in exchange for helping him fetch treasure to the north.
The bartender shakes his head in disapproval at the dwarf telling, what the bartender believes, is a wild goose chase.
To Zephyros, he says "Yes, the mayor is a citizen elected by the town for a period of three years and is responsible for the well-being and prosperity of Kerbin as a whole. Seems to have worked so far." He sees the orbs given to him and gives a strange look to the gold orbs, then says to the dwarf, "Realgâr my friend, have you seen these before? They look like gold to me, but what do you think?"
Realgâr (the dwarf) takes the gold orbs and inspects them for a moment, "Interesting. The appear to be pure gold. A rare find, you shouldn't have trouble using them for currency." He pushes them back and the bartender takes them, albeit somewhat reluctantly, for payment., but gives you a key to your room.

You have no idea if he's being honest it not, but your assumption of dwarves being lawful good and honest is generally correct.
However, with your general recollection of the dwarven kingdoms, you are aware that the symbol the unknown female at the bar is talking about matches the sigil of a dwarf kingdom called the Wheel Clan. A notorious dwarven kingdom of miners who have been recently experimenting in a new technology having to do with steam. What that is or even involves, you have no idea.
Zephyros
You think he obviously knows about the dwarven kingdom that is associated with the symbol description told to him by Ban. However, you still have no idea about the platinum bars that is being discussed.
You also think he is at least associated with nobility in some way. In what way, you are not sure entirely sure, but he certainly *looks* like a noble of some kind.
Realgâr says to you, "I am indeed no human, but a dwarf. I am not inclined to speak about my clan in detail, however, all respectable dwarves have a king. Only mere thieves among my race do not, which I disapprove of. An underwater kingdom? I have never heard of such a thing. I would like to hear more about it...and a translator? I do not see another of your kind here."
Grol
There is a half-elf at that bar who has been trying to talk to your group the entire time. Unsuccessfully.
He pours your drink. "You're welcome, sir."
Ban
Realgâr is slightly put off by you implying you wish to take any of his races' antiques as well as the implied threat, but he still remains as respectful as he can,
"Well, that's certainly your choice if you wish to risk selling them illegally, but you'll be very hard pressed to find anyone foolish enough to take them without the proper connections, and even less likely to get even a fraction of their value. I am not sure if there even are dwarven artifacts at this place to begin with, but if so, they are sacred to my race and I hope you can respect that. I think giving your group *all* of the valuables in return for letting me have anything that rightfully belongs to my race, which may not even be there, and adding the risk of taking the bars off your hands is more than fair. I am but one dwarf who is trying to find lost pieces of my culture's history and have no ill intentions or mean you all any harm. Anyone in town can attest to my reputation as a respectable and honest dwarf—I can assure you of that. I gave you the details ahead of time because I am no petty thief nor bandit and I figured we could simply help each other.
Not to mention, I have to guide you there as well, and your group could simply kill me after getting there for all I know, so suggestions of you or myself being harmed are unnecessary. I have not even seen what you claim you have in your possession yet, only a description. Can we start there at least? That is if you're still interested."

Sarros leans over to the Dwarf Realgar upon hearing about these rumours and how the conversation’s going.
”I understand your desire to re-unite with your people’s artefacts, and would be glad to help investigate. I have no Dwarven bars, but I can use my Elven knowledge of the arcane to keep us both safe. As well as anyone else who decides to join us.” Sarros says, while looking at the group.
Softening, she puts her hands up. "I think you'll do. You sound like you're on the level, like most dwarves. I don't think there's anything wrong with that. Gotta know who you're working with, ya know?" Motioning to Biscuit, "Hey, Biscuit. If you would, please bring a single of the bars so that our new friend here can take a look." Turning back, she orders another ale for the dwarf , slides it over, and suggests, "To new beginnings."
Realgâr says to Zephyros, "I, uh, see...he certainly doesn't translate much though."
Realgâr says to Sarros, "You would offer to help as well? That is very kind of you my half-elf friend, and quite admirable as well." He seems to study you for a moment, "yes...you seem up to the task and do not feel to be the immoral type. My gut is usually right, I welcome your help friend. I'm sure we will need knowledge of the arcane arts if we mean to investigate."
Biscuit runs off to retrieve a bar.
After Ban's reply, he says to you all. "Oh it is no problem, I understand the need to make sure who know who you do business with are reputable. I'm glad we came to an understanding. You all seem like the group I have been waiting for all this time. If you have what your friend is retrieving then we have a deal as far as I'm concerned."
A few minutes later as you're continuing with small talk, Biscuit returns with Og and a rectangular object wrapped in a cloth. He places it in front of Realgâr and discreetly unveils it.
The dwarf says as he appraises it, "By Moradin's beard, I never thought I would see one of these. This is indeed one of the lost treasures of the Wheel Clan, a dwarven kingdom far to the east of here. You say you have more of these? I won't ask how you got them, but if you have all of them then the dwarves there will consider you all true friends and honorary members of their kingdom—an honor very rarely granted and very sacred to them."
Biscuit wraps up the bar and returns it to the ship with Og following.
Realgâr then stands up on the bar stool, his coins in his beards clattering on the bar as he stands on the chair, "My name is Realgâr Rubyrump. Dwarven archaeologist, at your service. I am very thankful for your help. May luck and fortune find us all! To new beginnings!" He downs the ale ordered by Ban.
He sits back down and says, "Do any of you know more about the Wheel Clan by chance? They're quite famous, as far as dwarves are considered anyway. In any case, the cave system is about a day's travel from here so I recommend leaving as soon as you're ready. I'm happy to answer any other questions that you may have and I can leave whenever you all wish."

Realgâr says to Zephyros, "Well...I don't exactly know you well. Perhaps if you proved yourself worthy then I would consider it."

Zephyros will continue to drink the brandy and share it with anyone who want some! Seeing as they will probably head out tomorrow!
Felix Windfall(Human-V Lv.7 Rogue) killed in ToA, Vallan Houndstrider (Halfling Ghostwise Lv.1 Fighter) in DiASoftening, she puts her hands up.
It is currently early afternoon and there are a few shops in Kerbin if you need to make any purchases as far as weapons or supplies are concerned. Just list what you purchase and its cost from the PHB.

The Wheel Clan? Ban will tilt her head slightly and ponder what she may know about the dwarven clan. She pats down her pouches, taking mental inventory.
