"Some of your details are rather creative," Sam grumbles to Gewyn but in a cheerful tone. He makes no effort to correct the details to the crowd at large.
"I'd be getting on much better with a drink in my hand!" Sam says in a tone as loud as he imagines Gewyn would hope for from him and at least loud enough to be heard over a crowd. "And one for Ebb as well. He just took down the strongman two out of three contests!"
"You think that was creative?"Gewyn says to Sam a bit lower. "If this task force is a success and we go public then by the time that story makes its way back round to us, the wolf will be as large as a house and you'll have chased it off with a dismissive grunt." Gewyn stokes the cheers of the crowd for Sam and Ebb before patting them both on the back, grabbing another drink and melding into the crowd.
A minute later, he reemerges next to Elthana. He takes her empty mug from her and hands her his newly acquired full one. "You know, keep standing so still and you'll stick out. And not in the fun way like I do,"He teases with a wink. "The drink will help. At any rate, feel free to join Sam and Ebb in the eye of the storm. Wouldn't hurt for us all to be seen together at some point. You know, plant the seeds for when our team is formally recognized. Or stay here and enjoy from afar. Your choice. Have you seen Nef and their person? I lost track of them."
As Gewyn appears next to Elthana, she gives him a genuine smile. "You're enjoying yourself, aren't you? Yeah, I uh.. am not sure how to handle myself in a situation like this. This is completely new to me, as is this," she raises her empty mug as he takes it from her and hands her the new one. "Another? I'm not so sure that's a good idea, but it you say it'll help.. well bottoms up as they say." She empties half in one go, and then answers Gewyn's question, "Vin and the dog are over talking to the guards, hopefully not getting themselves into trouble. I uh, might actually try one of these games. Try not to stick out as you say? I'll be right back."
She hands Gewyn her half empty mug and slinks off to the monks and their aerial sticks. Once told of the rules, she leaps to the top of the first and lands on the second rod quite easily, takes a moment and lands squarely on the third, doesn't move once she is on it. She takes a quick breath, remembering what happened to Vin and leaps for the final fourth pole. She barely keeps her balance, but lands it. She lets out the breath she had been holding..
Gewyn holds both cups and grins at Elthana as she turns to leave. "Well if you're going to get noticed, let it be for doing something awesome!"he calls after her. Then he takes a deep breath, holding still a mug in each hand, and lets out a long sigh. He tilts his head back to feel cool air on his face and look at the stars.
Enjoying myself. Sure.
He lowers his gaze again to watch Elthana prepare to take on the challenge. She mounts the first pole. Then Gewyn glances back over at the rowdy crowd he'd left behind. If he stayed away much longer, it would probably start to lose momentum and energy as they wondered where he'd gone. It would break apart.
What if I let it, this time. The crowd has served their purpose to me. I don't need to go back over there...
Gewyn whistles and shouts as Elthana sticks her landing on the second pole.
The people will find other entertainment. I don't need to go back over there...
He clinks the mugs together and hollers encouragement as Elthana takes the third pole.
The girl will forget about me in a week. I don't need to...
He cheers and pushes to the front of the crowd. Handing the half-full mug to Elthana as she dismounts, he says, "Well it at least seems the drink didn't hurt. That was some showing!" Lowering to a more conversational tone, continues to speak."Though if you are fairly new to this type of beverage, there's no shame in sipping at a normal pace. You don't need to be a superhuman at everything," he chuckles. "But!" He blows a quick note on his pipes."On that note, I have some fans to be getting back to."
Watching from their table on the edge of the open air tavern. Vin and Nef watch as Elthana does what Vin couldn't even while drunk. Vin just simply claps for her. Nef looks to Vin and puts their head in his lap. The boy looks disheartened and a bit glad his allies haven't seen him. He pets Nef gently as the dog tries to comfort him. Vin gets up and heads towards the tavern building. His dog following on his side but looking back at the fun and entertainment the others are having. Their red eyes glowing with anger as they look at Elthana. The pair leave the circus area and head to the building marked as an inn. Vin doesn't go into the building though and instead goes around it looking for a way up to the roof of the building. They find a stack of crates on the backside and with care climb up them and onto the roof of the building.
The sound and bustle of the circus in the short distance he can hear the revelry out there. Now on the roof on the building Vin can see over the entire thing. A good view if not a bit of the ways out. He can't make out the fortune teller's place as that's on the far side of the circus but he can see the tabaxi monks in the air on their polls. He can see the tent holding the drinks and acting as an outside tavern and maybe can even hear Gewyn singing. He can see the people wondering around and talking in delight but not their words. Just an auditory sense of happiness from everyone. Vin looks down at Nef pacing in circles down below and looking worried. Vin smiles and uses the summoning trick they showed him. The hound vanishing from sight down below only to appear on the roof with the young man. They spin in a circles next to him until settling on a spot to lay down next to Vin. The half-elf lays back placing their head on her and looking up at the night sky above.
"I don't know Nef. Maybe I'm not ready. I know you keep saying I'll be great someday but... tonight I don't feel it. Everyone else is so much more amazing then me." Vin continues to lay atop the building's roof seeming deep in thought.
Elthana notes the impressed looks between the tabaxi monks and is praised heavily as she receives her prize, the crowd it seems had been waiting all night for someone to complete the challenge and they cheer uproariously as they watch.
The bar begins thinning out and as Vin watches people slowly returning from the circus back to their homes and some to the inn he notes how chilled the air becomes especially up high, the early hours of the morning will soon be passed and sunrise will surely come faster than anyone would have hoped after the frivolity of the evening's entertainment.
At the bar, Gewyn and Sam note that the more inebriated patrons have now cleared out, only to be replaced by the majority of the performers themselves as they've trickled in once done packing up. As Elthana returns, she sees that across the other side of the circus the Fortune tellers have remained open, despite the lack of a large crowd, however it does occur to her that they seemed quite odd to begin with.
The party at the bar see Ebb seeming to make his way over to the small tellers tent, but they see no current sign of Vin, Nef, Gara, or Walker.
Elthana smiles as Gewyn congratulates her and returns her mug to her. She clinks it against his as she has seen countless others do and just takes a sip the next time, trying that approach instead. "Thanks Gewyn, that was actually.... fun? Alright, you get back to those fans of yours, they won't know what to do without you."
After taking a quick look around, she heads to the bar to join Gewyn and Sam, watching as Ebb makes his way over to the still open fortune tellers tent. She then turns to Sam, "Vin was over at the guards earlier, but I don't see him now. Do either of you know where the boy and his dog went? Speaking of, did Gara or Walker come to the festival or did they stay back with the carriage the entire time?"
Sam asks early on about the whereabout of Vin and Neferox but wouldn't show any particular concern if nobody was aware of exactly where they were. There was festivities around, after all... Or perhaps they tired out and went to sleep in the carriage or found their own room or such. They were a kid but not a child, and someone found them adult enough to be declared their champion. Besides, Neferox was something else - That beast wouldn't be quiet if something ill was happening to the kid.
Gara and Walker don't even cross his conscious mind though. They're guarding the carriage and Sam hasn't spared them a thought since.
"Where's he off to then?" Sam asks whoever happens to hear him, giving a wave of his mug to indicate Ebb. "What tent is that?"
Sam makes as if to follow after Ebb to satisfy his curiosity but after a couple four steps he pauses and reaches into his pocket. He stands there for a moment, head cocked like a dog listening to a far off sound you can't even hear. Then Sam looks around almost self consciously and then heads off towards an empty dark spot where perhaps he could get a bit of privacy. He has had a few drinks, what goes in does have to come out eventually...
Shivering Slightly from the chilled night air, tired from the evenings activities, and seeing that the circus activities are calming down. Vin watching the last few people and tried to find their allies. Sam with their big bulk was easy enough to spot on top of the building as seeing who they are talking to the young man notices Elthana as well. Gewyn seems to be with them as well but he doesn't notice or see Ebb, Walker or Gara. Thinking on it, Gara said that he and walker would be staying with the carriage. Vin hops down from the roof, being careful so as not to hurt himself. Nef who was about to doze off in the cool night air wakes immediate as Vin moves down. The hound leaping down without any issue at all.
Vin makes his way to the last food stall before they close up completely. "Hey there! Sorry about the last minute purchase. What do you have left that is sweet and tasty? I think a coupe of my friends couldn't make it and I wanted to bring them something back." Whatever the vendor recommends Vin gets two. He would have the vendor put the delicious snacks in a small travel box and would also get something circus themed for a drink. Ordering two of the drinks as well and making sure they were easy to travel with Vin makes his way towards where the carriage is.
Vin isn't sure who of the two will still be up but Vin figured it wasn't fair to make the guards do all the watch with just the two of them. Vin didn't feel they needed to watch the carriage but they said they were going to so Vin got them these snacks and drinks from the circus so they didn't feel forgotten. He figured one of them was probably up doing their guard duty and the other resting. Vin was going to give them both some food and drink and offer to take a watch as well so they could be rested. If one is awake Vin will greet them with a soft voice hoping not to wake the other if they are nearby. If they are both resting Vin will just leave the boxes and drinks next to each of them and try not to wake them up. Neferox seems to just following in his wake and keeping an alert eye out for signs of danger.
As the night gets on, Gewyn feels the appropriate time to make his exit is nigh. He watches Ebb leave, and then Sam. He plays one final slow song on his bird pipes, with the band's singer accompanying him, and at last links arms with a swaying Darla, waves to the dwindling crowd and says, "Good morrow."To Darla he turns and quietly says, "What say we get you home?"And together they walk off.
Vin finds a vendor packing up the last of their wears but easily persuades the vendor to sell him some of the slightly stale sweet breads. The drinks are more of an issue, with no way to return the mugs, the vendor offers for vin to buy a couple of wineskins instead, filled with some kind of sweet and fruity juice, for the inconvenience the vendor throws in a couple more sweet breads if Vin wants to take the offer.
Gewyn learns that Darla is actually not from around here and is going back to the Inn too, as they swagger off in that direction they pass Sam and Elthana still at the bar, Gewyn remembers through his ever so slight drunken haze, that Sam and Ebb secured some rooms at the start of the night.
Elthana watches Ebb and Sam wander off a bit and as she looks around for Vin, notices Gewyn walking towards the inn with his new lady friend. Figuring he can handle himself, she smiles to herself, this is definitely new territory for her, what has she gotten herself into?
She starts walking towards the Inn, keeping a keen eye out as she goes, taking her time as she is also waiting for Ebb and Sam to head back. Wanting to know where everyone is before settling herself for the night. Thinking on that, she isn't sure what her plan is. A bed would be nice, but she could handle the chilly night air if need be.
(bit of posting at same time… but Sam didn’t go to fortune tellers with Ebb. Was going to, veered off to bio instead, then back to main group) “Half yas can stay with me, the other half can wait on Ebb. We both got rooms that’ll fit us combined,” Sam says with just a slight tell of the drink on his speech.
“You’ll be staying with Ebb if you’re bringing a guest,” Sam insists, turning to Gewyn. “Alls I want to hear on my room is snoring!”
Sam does give a thought to the whereabouts of Ebb and the kid and the beast but with Gewyn needing Ebb for a room, and the drink making him sleepier than he was, Sam figures it’ll sort itself out.
Gewyn and Darla head into Darla's room at the inn, and Gewyn closes the door behind him. Some soft soothing singing can be heard inside, and some quiet words from Gewyn, muffled by the walls. Mere minutes after going in, Gewyn emerges from the room alone. Still looking composed and unruffled despite the drink, he slowly, slowly closes the door behind him, lifting it a bit to keep the hinges from squeaking, as if trying very hard not to wake the occupant.
Elthana sees him coming out, stuffing a piece of paper into his pocket, and he flags her down saying, "I don't suppose you know which rooms are ours? I'm about ready for bed"
Half way to the teller Ebb’s hand goes to the keys. He stops and turns back and makes his way towards Vin who he sees buying some goods from a vendor. He walks heavy footed to let himself be know and also give the young man and his companion some extra personal space. “Hey Vin, can you take the keys back for me? I forgot to hand them off and I’m on my way to the tellers tent before heading back” ebb leaves the keys with his teammate and heads to the teller

Elthana heads into the Inn and as she gets the lay of the land, she watches as Gewyn emerges from a room by himself... she raises an eyebrow, "Um, what happened to your lady friend? If you're alone now, you can join me in Sam's room, this way." as they walk, she looks at him expectantly, waiting for an answer.
Half way to the teller Ebb’s hand goes to the keys. He stops and turns back and makes his way towards Vin who he sees buying some goods from a vendor. "Yeah, sure thing Ebb!" Vin takes the keys before he headed for the inn to climb onto the roof. A bit unsure what they are for but figuring they must be for a room in the inn.

Vin greeted the elder guard Gara when he went to find them. After giving him a box of sweet bread and a wineskin of some fruity drink he talks with him a bit and ultimately hand Gara the second box and drink to give to Walker later. Vin never ends up going to the inn and instead grabs a small nap in which he gets a good hour rest. Not enough for the day but he knows there's a lot ofntraveling ahead of them. Instead he helps Gara and walker get some meaningful rest as they were taking turns watching the carriage. Vin agreed to take the last watch that night and takes a seat on top of the carriage after being woken up by Gara.
Vin takes the place Gara was and ends up on top of the carriage to keep watch. A yawn signaling the beginning of the duty as Gara goes to get some rest. Nef wonders up to join Vin on the carriage and the two keep a vigil in the cool crisp night. About halfway through as Vin yawns again he says to Nef "I hope the ride is smooth tomorrow. I'm definitely going to be tired." The dog looks back at Vin and gives a small ruff of acknowledgment and seems to poke Vin with their nose. "Haha, no. I said I'd keep watch. I know you can handle it but I said I would." Vin continues his watch until someone wakes up, tries to find him or something happens
Gewyn waves his hand dismissively and replies, "Oh, Darla's had a lot to drink and a long night. I mean, so have I, but I've a constitution for such a lifestyle. Either way, we had a fun night of dancing, but the only thing she should be doing now is sleeping. Tomorrow's hangover will be not be kind to her, and I reckon she'll be hitting the road almost as early as we will." He chuckles at Elthana's expression. "What? Whoever said being a bard and a gentleman had to be mutually exclusive."
"But I think I'm about due for some beauty sleep about now too, thank you. This one?"he asks, nodding at the door Elthana indicates after they'd walked a bit. Once in the room, he immediately snaps his fingers to light the room's candles, kicks off his boots in the direction of one of the beds, walks over and flops down on top of the covers. One forearm drapes across his face, and he dangles a leg off the side. He lies there silently, feeling the alcohol buzzing in his head, trying to let his thoughts drift. After a few moments, he rolls his head to the side, uncovering one eye which regards Elthana. "So... How about you? Hear any interesting stories tonight?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Sam grumbles and turns to his other side, trying not to lose his hold on sleep as he says "Put those out" and pulls the questionable blanket up over his head.
(Eh, 50/50 Sam falls back to sleep and snoring or just snores and listens to the others chatter... odds he's actually asleep, even's just trying to be but actually listening. 15 - Suppose I could have just rolled a D2 but *shrug*. But yeah, that's about all Sam is doing, sleeping or trying to sleep.)
"Well, I don't know many bards, so I suppose I'll take your word on it that you can also be a gentleman." Elthana looks at him a bit skeptically, but doesn't question it any further. Once the two men settle in their beds, she sits on hers and starts thinking back on the day. Just as she starts, her thoughts are interrupted as Gewyn starts asking her questions. She gives an audible sigh, but turns to him nonetheless.
"Interesting stories? Unfortunately no. Talked to one about Hokum, but nothing solid at all, just a warning it isn't a place you return from basically. Did get my fortune read, I'm not sure if that was actually something or a waste of gold yet. But it was my first time at a festival, as I'm sure you realized, so just processing all of that." she pauses for a bit, then she moves more of her body to face him, "Other than regaling your fans with your stories, did you hear any interesting stories tonight?"

"Yeah, sure thing Ebb!" Vin takes the keys before he headed for the inn to climb onto the roof. A bit unsure what they are for but figuring they must be for a room in the inn.
-=Present=-
Vin greeted the elder guard Gara when he went to find them.
This one?" he asks, nodding at the door Elthana indicates after they'd walked a bit.
