Grigor takes a minute and goes to Xorin "Did you notice that just as we needed a pearl, a person passing by who does have that? And he exactly needed your knife? Isn't that strange? I'm beginning to think that this labyrinth can do more than just change in appearance. As if he would adapt to the people himself. Recognise your feelings and needs react to them... this time positively. But we should be careful what we think and want. Not that this Labirynth can use that against us, too. As a Wizard yourself, what is your feeling about that?"
Your chance encounter with the Ancient overburdened Dwarf now over you all move forward. You tread along the broken path as it winds its way back and forth, up and down, through the fields for sparse trees and high grass. For a moment you fancy you are following the trail of some huge serpent that passed this way and age ago, dropping its stone like scales as it went.
All is quiet, you are accompanied by the whisper of the breeze as it makes it way over the grass and through the trees. Nothing comes to challenge you, no deviations from your current path are noted. In time the Great wall that has been visible since leaving the Dark wood looms higher and a more detail begins to show.
The Path leads to a smallish clearing of dry dirt and broken cobble. In the middle of the clearing bubbles a fountain and on the opposite side are two large reinforced wooden doors that are about thirty feet apart. Each door has a large grotesque bronze face with a huge ring dangling from it. One face holds the ring in its mouth the other has the ends of the ring disappear into either ear.
The clearing is bounded on three sides by high grass and one the great stone wall.
Ayrlin checks the clearing searching for any enemy that could be hiidden in the vicinity or in the fountain.
Perception. 20.
If everything is clear he will enter it and after inspecting the fountain he will go to the door with the metal ring in its mouth and inspect it looking for traps.
You move forward cautiously scanning the fringes of the square and carefully inspecting the fountain and the cleared area around it.
The fountain is of circular stone construction its walls are three feet high and it is about ten feet across. Water bubbles out of two buckets supported on the ends of a pole that sits across the shoulders of a rather ugly looking squat gnomish figure at the top of a pillar in the fountains middle. The figures face is tired with has a look of long exerted effort on its face.
The water looks clear and cool and refreshing, and many coins sparkle in the low light at the bottom of the pool.
As you move about the clearing Ayrlin moves closer to the two doors to give them a good looking over. After a minute of two a loud "Hurumpf" is heard from the door on the left. Ayrlin's attention focuses on the large brass face of the knocker. It looks back at Ayrlin and says "Didn't your mother tell you it's rude to stare!"
Kasandra leans into a combat stance, but eases up a little when the talking door doesn't immediately attack them. "Talking door, what is behind you?" She says looking at the wooden face.
Is this the door with the ring in its mouth or in its ears?

Braddik watches over the fountain area and those inspecting it while Kassandra and Ayrlin have words with the talking door. Looking into the pool itself, he tries to make out some of the markings on the coins to gauge their age and nativity.
Xorin approaches the fountain cautiously. "Hmm, cool and inviting. Probably dangerous." he turns his attention to the figure in the middle of the fountain, giving it a momentary visual inspection, "He looks like he could use a break."

"No boom today. Boom tomorrow. There's always a boom tomorrow" "No power in the 'verse can stop me"
Ayrlina and Kasandra both address the talking door. The knocker with the ring in its ears was the one that spoke to Ayrlin and if looked back at both of them in irritation.
"No good, can't hear you!" it sniffed loudly, "Goodness me, strangers coming up and talking to me without so much as an introduction, Humpff."
The second knocker the one on the left, began to mumble something around the ring in its mouth, although it had the volume and enthusiasm in its speech, the ring made it quite unintelligible.
At the same time Braddik and Xorin inspected the fountain, Braddik observed the same spread of cultural styles and ages that had been found in the other detritus of the eons this Labyrinth must have existed. He even noted a few coins minted within the kingdom that contained this structure form the last fifty years or so.
Xorin's close examination of the figure at the center of the fountain and subsequent comment provoked no animated response like the doors a few years away. Though he did for a mere moment catch a glimpse of pleasure on the face of the figure for his show of empathy.
"Sorry good Sir, it's the first time I've spoken to... someone like you... " he says as he brabs the ring in the other's one mouth, trying to remove it so the other handler can talk. " I am Ayrlin Patheir and me and my companions are trying to reach the castle." he says
Ayrlin gently pulls the ring form the left knockers mouth, it heaves a huge sigh of relief, "Oh goodness thank you, so nice to have that thing out of my mouth after so long!"
The knocker on the right stares with a horrified expression, "What have you done you ninny, he never shuts up!" The knocker rolls its eyes and laughs, "It's a good thing I am deaf, Ha!"
The left knocker says, "Don't mind him, all bark no bite. Ayrlin is it? Well, it has been quite some time since I have spoken to...anyone!"
Then it looks at Grigor, "No need to be shy my young friend, come up close and have a good look. Crazy you say, hehe, well I could tell you a story of two. The things I have seen. People think being a door is all opening and closing, keeping things in or out. Well, try standing here for as long as I have and see what passes through yourself. Why it's enough to put you off your hinges..."

Corvus tries hard not to stare at the goings on at the wall. He drags his mystified attention away and keeps scanning the grass perimeter of the clearing for danger.
"I can't wait to get back to a place where a door is a door and nothing more..." he grabs his holy symbol, "Torm preserve us from this fey twisted place."
Seeing no takers, Xorin puts the pearl away securely and collects his things so they can continue forward with the rest.
