An expression of genuine concern on his face, Adaban walks hurriedly to Durnir and begins to inspect him for signs of the stone curse (having no idea what to look for). "A curse upon Durnir? One must know! Her sanctuary is safe?" He indicates the ring he had given Durnir earlier.
Durnir goes to dodge out of the way, stumbles and gets hit by it instead. "Beardless bastard! Okay, uhh, what was that, oh good job Ivy! Umm, yea that looks like a skull. I'd say that's where the necrotic energy was probably coming from. Yea, good idea Walf, we shouldn't touch it." As Adaban comes up to him "Um, thanks for the concern. Yea, your shrinking ring is safe. I don't think I'm cursed. Am I? Well, no sense in staying here now. Unless anyone else wants to go around. As for me, I want to go sit by a fire somewhere! Or, I could spend another 10 mins trying to look for magic again?"
Durnir will start heading back to shore, unless anyone asks him to look for magic stuff again.
Ivy gives a little wiggle of their hips from their success and Durnir's praise. "Is this like a new pet to carry around." She holds the dark rock in front of them, still in their spectral hand. "So..." She blinks. "What's considered touching?" They look around. "I can't just waltz around with a magic hand holding a black pet skull around here, right?" Ivy's head tilts. "Is 'bagging' it any different than holding it with a glove?" She meanders closer to Walf. "And who's carrying us back?" Ivy gestures with their magic hand holding the skull, then grins.
Ivy hops onto Walf’s back, holding on tight without choking their mentor, and concentrating on their magical hand to safely hold onto the skull for now. “We agreed no skull touching. Safety first!” She chimes in reminder. If Adaban has a spectral hand himself, or another safe way to transport it, Ivy would then obediently hand it over as per Walf’s instructions.
(OOC:Being familiar with the stone curse, from having identified it before, can Ivy tell if Durnir’s affected? Can she check if Adaban hasn’t/doesn’t? Can she/others inspect the skull further, in a safe manner, to determine any better way to carry/transport it?)
Durnir says to everyone "Will you all stop fussing over me, it just bounced off the armor! I think I'm fine."
As they get ready to go, he says to Adaban "Be careful with that thing." He'll mumble to himself as he casts Guidance "Helm, a little guidance would be nice." Then he will head back to shore.

There is no obvious indicator that Durnir has been affected.
I don't think you'd be able to tell if Adaban had a better way to carry it just by looking at him. Really though, he arrived on the shore naked and it wearing the clothes that the party provided him, and doesn't really have any other posessions iirc lol.
The skull can be inspected further. The identify spell would be the best way to learn its properties, or you can identify through means of being in direct contact with the object for an hour (lol)
Adaban grabs a gaffing hook from the side rail of the ship and offers to take the object via hanging it from the hook. "One has a way. Given such a journey to this place, One will take it away and rest."
(( If allowed to carry the object via the gaffing hook, he would literally disappear with it, vanishing into thin air. He and the item would materialize within the ring-space where he will place the item within a piece of pottery or urn. He will then take his four-hour rest and reappear once done. ))
(( If not offered the object, he would shrug, then take a moment to go back to the Captain's quarters to take anything of noteworthy value, such as charts, books, maps, chests, valuables, etc. He would only take what was immediately visible and not look too long, as the others are eager to go. Passive Investigation = 13. He would go back a few times if needed to quickly place items on the deck. Once done, he would grab hold of the collected items then disappear for rest. ))
(Scenario 1) Durnir looks skeptical. "I think having Ivy floating it would be better.....ELF WHISKERS! WHERE DID YOU GO?"
(Scenario 2) Durnir starts tapping his feet as Adaban goes back for more stuff. "We don't have a lot of time. How are you going to carry that all. I can take some of it but don't expect me to.... ELF WHISKERS! WHERE DID YOU GO?"
After some thorough inspection, and memory sift, Ivy shares. “The ‘touching’ seems specific to skin.” She nods with confirmation. “Please handle with care Adaban.” She relinquishes the item to Adaban for safe keeping.
Without further ado, Ivy bobs along, humming Walf’s tune along with him.
(Ivy’s reluctance wasn’t out of lack of trust, but simply out of care to not infect their friends. Adaban’s care for his magical ring has been more than enough of a demonstration to Ivy that he’d be most careful.)
(The skull can be safely handled with a gloved hand and stored in a container.)

Heading back into the captain's quarters, you find debris and trinkets scattered through the room, but some of the larger furnishings are still in place. You see a waterlogged bed; the bedding moving slightly with the water, a table with Navigator's Tools; the remnants of a map that couldn't last in this watery prison, and a large chest; a padlock keeping it tightly closed.

The chest clearly has some weight to it but being underwater makes it a lot easier to move than it would otherwise. You're able to pull it back up out to the part of the deck that is above the water.
Walf watches Ivy's spectral hand grab the object "Hmm Walf think friends not touch object...maybe look with eyes not with hands"

Walf nods at Durnir "Walf agree. Safer on shore then water trapped ship. Walf good swimmer. Walf no save all friends when ship go to bottom"

just an unstable unicorn.
Walf motions to hop aboard that he’d help Ivy across. He then points to his nose and says“Maybe someone take skull?”
Adaban nods. "One can. Safe to keep."

Walf will swim back helping Ivy after everyone else jumps in.
(Everyone will be able to make it back to shore without issue, but let me know if there is anything else you'd like to do before returning.

"Quite the cache. You want to take a look inside then?"
