"Well if we don't have a magical option, then I suggest we split up and search this area." Davis says with a frown. "If it has not been out in the elements long, then it is not likely going to be too far from here." He looks thoughtful for a moment. "If it smells like sea, then I suggest we start the search in that direction."
Durnir frowns. "You aren't trying to trick up into using magic to arrest us, right? Probably not. I do have something... but would only work if the we are looking for something magical. But, Helm can guide us in our search." Durnir will cast guidance on himself as he looks around to see if there is anything unusual as they move closer to the sea.

"Respectfully speaking, but if we wished to arrest you, then we would have done so in the bar." Eirlys chimes in. "We all know someone who has interests in magic, or rumored to. As long as it's used responsibly, then we're willing to look the other way."
At the suggestion, the halfling looks around as they search for where the earring came from. Her focus is on any signs of a struggle, especially for blood. But she keeps her ears open for any strange sounds or voices.

The ever growing document of character concepts can never be too long, can it?
"Exactly." Davis says with a nod to Eirlys comment. "I personally have no problem with magic, if used for good and not evil. Just don't flaunt the use of magic where it can get you into trouble." He follows along, his own powers of investigation not as good as most of the group, so he lets those better at the looking do so while he guards their backs.
Walf sits down with the Magpie, closes his eyes and begins to whisper in druidic into the birds ear, while offering it more from his bug buffet. He begins the 10 minute ritual speak with animals while the others talk.
Walf smiles at Ivy before she follows the insect “Ivy did well! Ivy remember to use all senses! Magpies very smart birds…very smart, yes. Perhaps the bird will fly back to the place ear adornment found….Walf will let her go and see”
The magpie seems content with the snack that has been presented to it. It eyes you curiously, seemingly accustomed to the presence of people.

As you look around, you see that the docks are much less populated then they were a few hours ago, most folks likely having turned in for the evening. The sun is now mostly tucked beyond the horizon, a slivering half-circle still visible. The sky takes on various colors ranging from yellow to purple - all things considered, it has been a beautiful day. Looking out to sea, you see some ships near the shore, likely the last of those that will reach the dock today. You don't see anything troublesome - this place seems to retain a relative level of peace.

As you look around, you come to the same visual conclusion as Davis does - There doesn't appear to be anyone worrying around, no guards stomping across the boardwalk toward an unseen source of this earring. The docks are relatively quiet, save for the constant sounds of gulls overhead. Additionally, there are distant and undiscernible conversations taking place out on some of the ships as workers repair, stock, and tend to their ships as needed.
Walf sits down with the Magpie, closes his eyes and begins to whisper in druidic into the birds ear, while offering it more from his bug buffet. He begins the 10 minute ritual speak with animals while the others talk.
After Eirlys and Davis move towards the harbor, Khione doubles back and approaches both Ivy and Adaban. "I now realize I hadn't mentioned it before, but my name is Khione," She said, her unblinking gaze moving back and forth between the two figures like a swaying pendulum. "My companions are going to the sea to figure out the truth behind your reptilian friend's find. They're mercenaries, so you can understand their... Let's say need to do the supposed "right thing" at all costs. However, I wish to head further into town to garner some information on my own. Would either of you care to accompany me?" It didn't take long for Khione to figure out that both Ivy and Adaban had quite the knack of getting into trouble with their unawareness of society in the Crosslands. However, having such brash, impulsive people leading the way would mean she could remain hidden in the shadows with all eyes on her companions instead of on her. It was then only a matter of which people around were willing to talk.
"Much gratitude Khione. It is good to be useful, but one wonders if wise to separate in such a place of hostility?" Though he questions the safety of splitting up, Adaban bows his assent to go with Khione.
Ivy had perked from Walf’s praise, their hips wiggling a little from the joy. They were pretty good with their sniffer! They nod to themself with pride. But Walf was very smart too, communicating with the source. The bird!
Ivy was listening too. While Walf focused on the bird, Ivy tried to keep up with people communication. But there was something about the things they said that made them uncomfortable. Every time they were ‘reassured’, she’d shift a little from that discomfort. It wasn’t necessarily the individual making Ivy uncomfortable… just the choice of words. Their eyes bounce around from Durnir to Eirlys, to Davis, to Walf, to Khione, then Adaban and back to Walf for a moment. They’d then glance back to Khione, then move rest on Adaban before landing back on Khione. “No thank you.” Ivy would shift uncomfortably before taking a seat at Walf’s feet. “I’d like to stay here with Walf.” She wanted to stay close to him, but also wanted to hear what the bird had to share.
"Very well. If anything goes amiss here, please come and get us. We won't go far." Khione said to Ivy, before turning her full attention to Adaban. "Splitting up allows us to cover more ground, gather more information. Eiryls and Davis are quite capable, I have no doubt they'll be fine. Plus, the rest of your companions are staying here, so there's plenty of eyes to guard backs." She explained, tilting her head slightly. "Would you like to lead the way, then?"
Walf sits down with the Magpie, closes his eyes and begins to whisper in druidic into the birds ear, while offering it more from his bug buffet. He begins the 10 minute ritual speak with animals while the others talk.
As the 10 minutes comes to an end, you feel a surge of magic flow from your own source into the magpie. Not only do you feel as though the spell is successful, you begin to detect the thoughts of the bird. First, you feel it content - it seems as though the deal you’ve made has proved fair to the magpie. It is also unusually calm, unlike many of the birds and creatures of Es’Verdai-el which would still hold a level of uncertainty about the presences of humankind.
"North. Rocks. Sea. Wood. People. Dead people. Shiny."
You feel its emotions changing from content and calm to excited and greedy. To curiosity, then fear. From fear, to anxiety, stress. Then finally, to calm and hungry. The magpie takes out another crunchy bug and eats it up.
Ivy looks up to Walk from where they sit, wide eyed and proud smile when he addresses them. She understood him, but has not yet attuned to the intricate language of nature quite yet. They shake their head no to Walf’s question. “I think I felt flits of their emotion this time though.” She’d beam, believing that their time spent with Walf is bringing them closer to their connection with Druidic ways. Ivy then nods in agreement that the bird must have been helpful. She trusted Walf’s wisdom. “Is our friend someone’s? Or a bystander?” Their head tilts in curiosity at the little birdy enjoying Walf’s offerings. She was curious if it was wild or tamed. Would it guide them back to the source? Or would they be escorting it back safely home?
Walf still speaking in Druidic "This little fella said to travel north to the rocks near the sea. There's wood there where dead people are. It sounds like a ship has wrecked. Perhaps we head there with this little guy. He is quite tame for a bird. However, when you commune with nature and understand the ebb and flow of how it works, animals sense this. He may just sense my calm and nurturing demeanor.....or it is my jar of bugs" Walf laughs and gets up to walk north with Ivy but stops a moment and see everyone else has left. Walf continues to speak naturally in Druidic instead of his broken common "Where has Durnir run off to? The peculiar one called Adaban has also disappeared? Did the others take them for their crimes or have they all gone looking for the owner to this?" Walf shakes his head and mutters to Ivy again "So impatient..."
Durnir watches as Adaban goes off with Khione. He will say as they leave "Oy, be careful. Also, Khione, he could probably use some clothes."
He will wander a little ways, but keep Ivy and Walf within eye sight. He didn't want to spook the bird. Walf and his birds... They are useful though. He will scope the area out, but it seems to be fairly peaceful.
As Walf gets up and starts walking north, he will catch up "Who did you say was impatient, ya old lizard? Did you expect me to sit right next to you as you chat with all the wildlife? The bird say anything interesting? Is it just gonna follow you around like those other ones back home now? I don't think those three will arrest us. They probably would have already."

The bird tilts its head, mimicking Walf, "Where?"
