Bombil tries to listen to the whispers to see if there's any words he can make out. He's also looking into the tone of the whispers to see if he can get a sense of what mindset the whisperers are in.
With a frown, de Brézé steps back from the arm and looks around, staying alert. "We really can't draw a conclusion from such little data," he states, "but it is possible that the creature was that desperate to be rid of the ring. We should be careful - it may be cursed."
"I hear voicing down this adjacent tunnel. Lets investigate" If there are not objections Thorin makes his way to the murmuring voices as a stealthy as possible.
{With a 14 Kaliden can recall a disease known as Slimy Doom but it's unlikely that it could be the reason behind the limb being removed although it could explain the amount of blood. The bite looks to be that of a human... although there is a slight chance that it could have been a ghoul or maybe a ghast .}
Bombil
{With a 4 Bombil can't really make out most of what is being said but the one thing that he could pick up on was the word, 'trespassers'. And with another 4 it is almost impossible to make out the tone but he could guess that they might not be in the greatest of moods.}
{With a 27 Thorin is able to sneak up on the pair without being detected by them. As he gets closer to them he can see that the voices belong to two tired looking guards.}
"It's bad enough that, that ass Lowclaw is crawling around down here with the rest of the rats. If you ask me, the captain should have come down himself to deal with them, I just want to spend time with my wife and daughter." The guard closest to the opening of the tunnel said with a very soft sigh. The other guard looked at them and shrugged slightly before looking down at the ground for a couple seconds.
"You honestly think I really want to be down here any longer than I have to be? As long as we find those two young men that wandered down before Lowclaw or one of those undead monstrosities gets to them first... although we might be to late."
Softly, the fighter crouches beside the gruesome trophy. He lowers his pack, rummages for a moment, and produces a rag covered in splotches of color. If no one objects, he carefully cuts the ring finger from the rest of the hand. "The good cleric may be able to sense if it's evil," he says, carefully wrapping the digit, "but he seems to have wandered off." He tucks it in his pack and shoulders it again. "We should probably catch up." He takes up the rearguard, letting the others in front.
Standing near the severed arm still, hearing Nicolas oblivious to my presence, I say, “I’m not certain but those bites could’ve been caused by either a ghast or a ghoul, and for the record I wasn’t trained in a temple. I got my training on battlefields. I can detect evil but it’s not normally a blessing I pray for.”
The fighter makes a mental note. "Magic is hardly my forté, but there's something odd about this ring," he reasons. "Correct me if I'm wrong, master dwarf, but the band seems like a fine piece of work. Particularly fine. Maybe not worthy of a black opal, but at least a black pearl. But jet? It may as well be a lump of coal," he opines. He turns to the dwarf. "What do you think?"
(Edit: Good point, HunterO; de Brézé may not know magic, but he is educated. Arcana: 3)
Thorn sneaks back and reports what he found. "It was some local guards sent to look for the boy like use. So far they had no luck. Once your done with the ring lets move on"
{With a 16 Nicolas recalls having either seen or read about rings similar to the one they had found, they are known as rings of resistance and the gem in the ring has some correlation to what kind of damage the wearer becomes resistant to. Nicolas might not remember all of the combinations of gems and resistances he does recall that jet has something to do with Necrotic damage.}

TLDR: Just take the freakin' ring, dammit!
Nicolas de Brézé
"Death," de Brézé murmurs to himself. Louder, he explains, "Jet is associated with death or mourning. So..."He pauses long enough to retrieve the ring from his pack. "In a setting like this likely means a ring of resistance - to necrotic damage." He offers it to Thorn. "If you're going to take point like that, you might need this."
As the group continued down the tunnel the strange cry got louder. As they went deeper into the tunnel it began to widen and the few and far between torches had been lit but unlike the ones closer near the entrances of the tunnels these ones had a unique looking purple flame.

Kaliden Two-Stones
I look at the bitten dismembered arm if possible I try to recall a disease or creature which may account for this particular trauma.

Tagreth's attention turns to that of the ring when Nicolas mentions that it might be cursed.
"Perhaps you are right, my friend. Although, if we carefully collect it, I could perhaps invesigate the ring at a later point."

“May I have a look?” Using my limited arcana 19 “Yes it is a very unassuming item.”
Thorn sneaks back and reports what he found. "It was some local guards sent to look for the boy like use. So far they had no luck. Once your done with the ring lets move on"
"If they were looking for the boy too, did they have any leads?" asks Bombil to Thorin.

Thorin puts on the ring and begins heading down the tunnel "Alright lets go and watch out or whatever bit that arm"
Bombil follows suit, twiddling a dagger in his free hand as he goes along.

Tagreth shrugs his shoulders at his companion deducing the ring's true purpose. He then follows after him, with Ratchet following close behind.
