While everyone is sorting their selves out cat approaches the elves "Could I get some bearclaws and coffee sugar and cream for everyone at my table."

She whispers "And some dog-bone shaped pastries for my friend over there." She points at Piers with a smile.

She straight forwardly asks ."How's business? There's some beautiful estates around here, it should be good" 

She offhandedly, on purpose, points at the Grailhunds estate.

Drux goes in with Cat. “I’ll try what she’s having.  It usually a sweet tooth kind of dragon but, I’ll see what your enthusiasm is about.”

Piers looks everything being really curious ."This is a barista?And what exactly serve apart from those pastries? " (now all its being left is to go to a fantasy nightclub lol) He goes to the  counter and asks for two bagels and a peppermint tea

before kess suddently disappears, lore manages to see trough her eyes. the sprite was close to a robed man using a stone mask that resembled a vampire. you could also see that he had only one arm. "i appreciate the kindness of retrieving the stone for us. as promised: your family shall be spared from the bloodshed that it's yet to come." he comments, as the crow appears on his shoulder, looking at Kess with a glowing eye that looks like a rock. the crow whispers something at the robed man's ears, and then he grabs a small, iron jail from his robes. after this, a sigil appeared inside the cage, and everything goes black.

the barista elf smiles happily, as she nods "allright! bearclaws and coffee sugar coming right up. . ." she comments, before giving an awkward smile at cat's comment on piers "i am sorry, we don't have any dog-boned shaped food. one minute, please." she says, before going to the kitchen. after a few minutes, she comes back with your order, delivering it to your table "it has been good! our cafe is the most desired in waterdeep, i must say~" she says, proudly. before going back to the kitchen and delivering the rest of the orders

As everything goes black, Lore is staggered and opens his eyes instantly, his face pale. He sends Kess back to her dimension, then -- when they are in a a secluded spot in the cafe -- calls her back to him, suggesting she become invisible instantly.

(( @DM: Is this the crow we have seen before? Did he get a look at the prisoner? Did he see the stone that was mentioned? Can I assume he took in the surrounds that were previously described? ))

Cat oblivious to what's going on comes back to the table and puts the pastries and coffee on it.

"Lore you look like you've seen a ghost, something wrong?"

She says as she sits down and starts munching, not having had breakfast.

Lore nods quickly, "It's Kess...she may be dead. I think it's the necromancer." He seems preoccupied, though thankfull that dismissing a familiar has no range limit. "I'm trying to send her somewhere safe then recall her...but if that doesn't work, I'll need to re-summon back at the inn -- or here in private."

Cat gives a look of shock "Thant jerk again?" she starts sipping the coffee

Piers is shocked."shiver me timbers as a friend used to say!I said we need allies didn't I?If they are connected to those rich people then is worse than we thought "

( it looks similar, but you can tell it's slightly different, mostly due to the glowing eye. and yes, kess managed to see the man you where looking for. he is a human with a tatoo of a winged snake on his neck. he is bleeding a lot due to laceration wounds on his body, signals of torture. and unfortunately no, kess didn't manage to see any stone.)

kess scretches his arms, yawning as she became invisible instantly "wow! what's the matter? i just woke up!" she says in an annoyed tone. "hey, where are we? didn't we where just on the tavern?" she says, looking around surprised. looking closely, she does not have any wound on her body. (with a DC: 10 perception check you can see that there is a small symbol on her chest, almost hidden by her clothes. the symbol is the same as the one that appeared inside the cage)

Lore frowns, makes her visible once more and points at the mark, "What and where did you get that? Show me the whole thing."

He knows it's the same mark as the cage, but he has no idea what it means or where it might come from ((Arcana 3)), so he turns to the others. "Does this mean anything to any of you? It was on the cage that trapped her."

When they have seen the mark (( which for modesty's sake, perhaps he can draw )), he says to Kess, "I'm sorry...but I'll call you back soon." Then he sends her back to her home dimension.

Finally, he stands and turns to the others. "We ought to leave. Now. By the back entrance."

"Nope, maybe a curse?"

She nods her head "Yes I think we should." having already paid(@DM, how much with tip?) she gathers the goods she asks the elves "Do you have a doggy bag and a back door?" 

Drux arcana 8 

Piers eagerly says" Let me see I might have seen this symbol before" (Arcana natural 1 (rolled in log) )

"huh? what?" she comments, looking at her chest "hey! i don't know! it suddently appeared?" she says, confused. she looks at lore very confused before returning to her dimension

Drux after inspecting the symbol, can recognize it as a symbol often used to Charm spells. more commonly found in Memory-altering ones.

. . .while piers thinks it's some kind of horrible curse that will permanently kill kess in a few days.

( the whole meal costs 10GP. this is a "noble" estate, so naturally the prices are a bit high )

"thank you for the preference~" the elf says, quickly collecting the money "uhum, we do." she says, grabbing a bag from behind the counter and giving to Cat "and yea? we do have a back door, also." the elf then points at a door on the opposite side of the entrance "is something wrong? you're all acting. . .a bit weird."

Cat shrugs as she thinks quickly

"I just saw an old boyfriend who turned out to be awfully creepy, you know the totally all hands type, and move in with you come down the street! I just recently got away from him, you know and moved in with my friends here. So we need to totally get away without being seen! Or he'll will totally try and take advantage of me and try to move in with us!"

She pays the ten gold and slides an extra five.

Seeming to have recently come out of a state of near shock, Lore looks around, clearly disconcerted. He tries to use his genuine distress to his advantage, "Yes, yes, a dreadful situation," he says.

Piers nods as he is eating in haste his bagel.He takes out from his pouch what he has to pay and leave them on the counter. He thanks the elf for the quality of their food and service and then is prepared to leave 

“Piers, I’m sorry. I, *pause* I recognize that. It must be something Cat’s ex is using to track us.” 

Spinning around on the elf, Drux says, “We must leave, quickly. And you should lock up for the day.” 

And without skipping a beat he moves towards the door the elf pointed at.

”Let’s get!”

Once everyone is out of earshot of the elf and making our way, Drux would pull them aside and tel them what he knows about the symbol.
