Daj and Etrigan, you two notice a couple of curious things as you walk down the hallway some:
- The shadows cast by the party, when observed peripherally, seem to be moving slightly slower than the real counterparts, as if on a time delay of close to 2 seconds. When observed directly though they move in perfect unison
- In the periphery, it seems as though the shadows are getting closer to the party, but when looked at directly they appear to be normal shadows
- While Athyra is holding a weapon in her hand (which does work just fine by the way), her shadowy partner does not carry anything
- At least one of the shadows seems to be...smiling??
"It seems to work just fine." Athrya says to the barbarian, "I've never seen anything like this before!" When Etrigan growls, she asks, "What do you mean Etrigan? What can a shadow do?"As she says this, she looks at the walls to see if there are any arrows stuck there. If there are, she will try to pull those out as well, hoping for some shadow arrows.
"It would depend on the shadow, but our shadows are currently not behaving like shadows should." Etrigan continues, very wary of the nefarious intentions of his shadow.
"Really?" She looks directly at her shadow. After staring at it for a moment, she looks back at Etrigan, "Well, it looks normal to me. Let me know if it tries to kill me or something... Wait a minute." She realizes that it does not carry the shadow bow. "Well I guess this thing is a shadow, so that's not weird i guess."
“I suggest we get some light of our own. If these shadows are dangerous, I would hate for tthe torches to go out as unexpectedly as they were lit.” Daj takes a torch out of his backpack and lights it, holding his hammer in his other hand. After doing so he looks at the shadows again to see if they act any different under this light. investigation: 10
It is not hard to find an arrow suitable to use with the bow, but as soon as you all begin to investigate the curious shadows closer, you see them draw weapons similar to your own. Just as they get ready to attack, Daj lights a torch! The shadows scatter to the edge of the light! And yet, even with this light, if you watch out of the corner of your eyes, they continue to follow you in their odd fashion...
"That's probably a good idea Daj, but I don't actually have a torch," Rohesia says as she sees Daj and Athyra pull them out. "I wasn't really expecting to end up inside the Spire. I was here to climb it!"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Oh, please my dear, allow me to provide you with one, if you are prepared to carry a torch for one such as me Rohesia?" Etrigan says with a grin, quickly producing two torches from his pack, lighting them and offering one of them to the statuesque woman with the ponytail. "I'm looking forward to watch you climb this spire then, as soon as we have dealt with what's below." The demon adds, ready to proceed after Daj's lead.

Once everyone has a torch, Daj sets out cautiously down the hallway, trying to keep an eye on what the shadows are doing, as well as any sign of life ahead.
As you all continue deeper into this chamber, you see a rune spark with a dark arcane flare in the distance (about 60ft away near the exit door). Your body feels shot through with a soul-sucking energy.Everyone make a constitution saving through!Even worse, the beam seems to take up most of the width of the tunnel chamber!
Rohesia takes the torch offered by Etrigan. "Yes, you're quite funny," she says with a sarcastic tone and forced smile. Now equipped with a torch she heads down the hallway after the others.

"Be watchful of your shadows." Etrigan growls, ready to defend himself should his shadow turn agressive against it's master.

“Ah, ok. Might I suggest that we each carry a torch?”
(OOC: Does the torch affect the shadow bow that Athyra has?)
(No it does not affect her shadow weapon. However, after about a minute the weapon vanishes from her grasp.)
(Ok)
"Uh, yeah. I think that is a good idea." Athyra says to Daj. She pulls out a torch of her own and lights it.

Etrigan INT save: 5 not sure if bonus from Daj or maybe advantage due to magic resistance from Zasz.
