"I had hoped to ambush him, catch him unawares so that we could subdue him before he got the chance to use his magic," Drezmir says. "But I don't think that's an option anymore. Still..." His tone grows firm, "I do not wish to kill him unless there is no other choice. Attack with force if he is prepared for us. We don't want to give him the chance to hit us with his spells. If we must knock him out, so be it. However, give me a chance to speak with him. Even if...if I cannot sway him, perhaps we can learn something about who he's been working with."
"I think that choice may be made for us when Robin gets the door open." Gilded says as he watches Robin work "Simon will either attack us all immediately, or he will not. If he does not, then we will have our chance at talking."
"Yes," Drezmir nods to Gilded. "Though, I was assuming we would wait until after we subdued him to try to talk. If he tries to talk to us now, it will likely be to manipulate us. All I'm asking is that we don't immediately try to kill him regardless of what happens. Even if we have to knock him out first, I still want a chance to talk him down from the path he's chosen."
"I do not know how smart it is to not use all of our forces." Gilded says to Drezmir. "It sounds noble to say we wont kill him, but since only those up front can use the side of our blades, and then without any magic to try and knock him out. What if we need the help of those behind us?"
(OOC: Trying to make sure the Drez knows only meelee attacks without magic can be non-lethal, according to the PHB, are we playing that way?)
Vex looks to the other door and says to the rest: ”What about the one that leads to the hall to another door that supposedly leads to the other door by the location where Simon is? If the time comes and we need to attack, we can break down the other door into that room and he won’t be able to get all of us, he’ll be surrounded! Otherwise if this ends peacefully, we do not need to do that.. Should we do that just in case?”
(OOC: Yeah, he's kind of assuming that no matter what he says everyone is going to just rush in a beat this guy up. He's pretty much just asking that we stop before he dies. But, then again, he doesn't have a huge understanding of magic because he isn't really a magic user, and he hasn't had much experience with magic users, so he might not really know those limitations.)
"I understand this," he says slowly. "However, I also suspect that Simon is going to be far more difficult to kill then any of opponent we have faced together thus far. I have a feeling he can take a couple hits from our ranged magic users. It may even be essential that they attack, since I doubt that just us melee fighters will be able to take him down alone. If we must down him, I'm sure at least one of you healers can do something to ensure he survives. If not, hopefully someone can stabilize him. I'd prefer to disarm him with non-lethal force, but I have a feeling that since our cover has been blown, that won't be an option." He lets out a long breath, "I suppose whatever happens happens. Either we'll get to talk to him, or we won't. I just want to make sure that we at least try our best to do the right thing here."
(Oh, I didn't see Vex's post before I posted mine.)
Drezmir looks to Vex, "That is a good idea. But do we have time to do that?" He think for a moment, "We also don't know if there are more enemies in that room. We can't really afford to get into another fight before facing Simon. However, I am willing to take the risk if it gives us the advantage."He looks to Gilded, "What do you think?"
Gilded thinks for a moment, then says. "I think it would divide us up into 4 different groups to cover all of the doors." Im not sure we would be very efficient that way, not to mention we don't know what is in the way between here and those other 3 doors."
“I like Vex’s idea, but let’s simplify it, only open this right-hand door into the hall, then approach Simon’s room from both the north and the east. That way we are divided into 2 groups which may lessen the effectiveness of his spells. I do fear that it will take too long to get around to that third direction as well.”
“Assuming the hallway is clear… There’s also the risk of being flanked by who-knows-what in those other rooms behind us if we do that. So, it may be best to just enter this way go for it.”
"I agree, four groups would be spreading us rather thin, and we don't know who else could be waiting in all those other rooms. We can't afford to be attacked while engaged in combat with Simon. If we are going to do this, we should only split into two groups."
Gilded nods, not bad, but think about what could go wrong. "Who would be the 2 groups, and are you sure you can get the other door open without killing someone I mean?" He grins at Vex.
(Back at the last thing Drezmir said about the power thing)
Corvus gives Drezmir a curious look, but says nothing.
The Aarakocra listen's the the other's discuss the plan then looks at the map, "I agree with Vex and Jess, though I think the best option would be to go through here." He points to room 0 and room 14. "Like Jess says, we risk running into more threats, however, I believe it might be best to eliminate those threats before we attack Simon. The last thing we need is to ignore them, then end up having them ambush us while we are in the middle of fighting Simon."
”Well, that is an option. However in that case, that raises another possibility.” Vex says before pointing to room number nine. “Room number nine. Then he is surrounded from both sides, and I don’t think he can shoot a spell behind him and in front of him at the same time.”

This is what I see at this point with everyone's postion.. Let me know if I have someone wrong.
(Looks right to me!)
Jess recalls,
“The captured guard indicated that Simon is just in the next room. So what’s our strategy? Engage in conversation, or attack with deadly force?”

Gilded pulls out his map and looks real quick. "Simon is in room 11, and there are 4 doors, which are you suggesting we try to get to? All of them?"
“That is an option, going in room 9 and 14. We will have to decide. What do the rest of you think?”
Gilded thinks for a moment, then says. "I think it would divide us up into 4 different groups to cover all of the doors." Im not sure we would be very efficient that way, not to mention we don't know what is in the way between here and those other 3 doors."
