Drezmir, deciding to ignore the whispers for now turns to the barkeeper with a smile and extends his hand in greeting. "Well hello, yes we are looking for rooms as my friend here asked." He pauses, remembering that Arthur's group was a part of the Shining Guild, "Huh, what a coincidence! We met a few members of this guild on our way here. Arthur and his group. They helped us...er...or we helped them, deal with some mountain bandits as well as a couple false dragons."He hesitates, realizing that once more he let that slip when perhaps it wasn't the greatest idea. Oh well, they should be scheduling an appointment with the Vintsvents soon, and they should be well on their way to making a name for themselves by the time they actually speak to them. "Oh... perhaps I spoke to fast. Forgive me, but... I know how rumors spread and I don't want to insight fear or anything..." He shakes his head, stopping himself when he realized he'd been about to dive into an explanation as to why they were here and what the dragons had been and...well to much to give away.
He gives an awkward chuckle, "Sorry, I have a bad habit of talking to much. I can see you are busy, so for now we'll just settle for answers about rooms and those runes over there."He nods to Jess and to the board before saying, "I know a few of us have some things to attend to, but perhaps we will come back for drinks later."
(OOC: So this guild doubles as a tavern, but does that include an inn? Just want to make sure we are asking for rooms here and not where to find rooms elsewhere. lol)
Jess notices some sort of evocation runes, refined into raw elemental energy. Wind? It appeared to harness powerful winds? There were also draconian runes upon the boards. The innkeeper had looked to Flynn with a wide smile.
"Ahh you wanna know about the rooms? Five silver a room per night, but it comes with room service food and drink! Course for guild members that have completed a job within the week that fee is waived! The names Flynn, Flynn Shootingstar and you don't know about Sky Riding? It's something the new dragon hunters are trying. Now you know.. Crafty dragons can fly and breathe upon you. Or fly down and carry you off! Sky Riding.. Harness's the powerful gust of wind from their bodies and uses it to surf upon the air. So those who use blades can break the distance! It's very difficult but incredibly useful when against massive flying titans!!"
Flynn had looked to Drezmir his smile a bit brighter than when he had talked to Jess before.
"Hello! My you are more friendly than most adventurer's the air of a noble! Most cut straight to the point and just try to gain info or a quest. Such a breath of fresh air I must admit! We may be sword arms but must we act in such a manner? It's not often I get to hear other's share with me for a change!"
He had listened to Drezmir speak of his time with Arthur's group he had let out a light chuckle.
"Arthur's group? He may be a son of a noble but no one has ever called them that before. Normally others refer to them as Kirai's group. That is certainly... a first? Many prefer to talk to Kirai if they can or Leonard for that matter! I'll tell you Leo's smart like Kirai but he manages to stay personable like sir Arthur a good kid!"
Drezmir had apologized about possibly inciting fear and Flynn's expression had only softened further.
"You truly are thoughtful aren't you? It's hard to imagine you on the battlefield with such a gentle soul. Ahh, if Radiant city can't handle a few words than perhaps we deserve to falter! Heh, feel free to ask whatever you need. Do not apologize for making such pleasant conversation as I've said it's a nice change of pace from my usual patrons. If you're interested in gaining yourself a board I can make a word for you to rent one or a few for you're party. I warn you, one must be in good shape to use such a board. Either strong of body or at least light on their feet. If you do return for drinks sir noble, the first for you is on the house."
OOC Cool sounds good! But Corvus sadly heard more than his pet had haha
Air of a noble? Drez isn't sure how to take that. He gives an awkward chuckle and rubs the back of his neck absentmindedly. That is, until Leonard is mentioned. At that he goes a little somber, and then even more so when it seems Flynn doesn't think much of the false dragons. In truth, it wasn't the mention of the false dragons that Drez was worried about, it was what the false dragons signified--and the possibility that the Vintsvents are involved. That was where the fear could really come from, but dare he say that to this innkeeper?
After a moment he musters his smile again and says, "Oh, thanks. I'm glad you feel that way. It's a pleasure to meet you Flynn." He extends a hand, and says, "I am Drezmir..."He briefly wonders if he should include that he is a knight of Glazing winds, but decides he'd rather not encourage the fellow calling him a noble or 'sir'.
He chuckles, "Well, I suppose that makes sense. I just think of Arthur when I think of the group he's with because I spent more time with him then I did the rest of them. Our parties split up to help each other out, and Kirai wasn't with their group when we met in the first place."
"Ah, so that's what those boards are for," Drez says, making the connection between the boards and the sky surfing Flynn had mentioned earlier. "Well, considering we might be facing more dragons in the future I'd say it would be worth our while to learn something like that. It also sounds like a fun challenge! Perhaps after we've figured out our appointment details we can rent a few boards." He smiles at his comrades, hoping that at least some of them would be willing to try with him.
Gentle soul? Hard to imagine him on the battlefield? Drez had never really considered what he would do with himself if he had not been chosen for his destiny. Would he have chosen a life of fighting? He can't really imagine his life any other way...can he? Briefly, he considers what he would have done differently if he didn't have a demon waiting to fight him... But, there is no point in following that train of thought, everyone has destiny to follow and he is proud of his. When Flynn calls him 'sir noble' it draws another awkward chuckle from him. He nearly objected to the title, even though it seemed Flynn wasn't using it literally. But, he supposed he'd better get used to the idea since he was a noble of sorts thanks to becoming a knight of Glazing Winds. "Oh, well, thanks friend! We'll surely return." He pulls out his coin pouch and grimaces...he used up most of his gold on the sending stones, and only has five silver left. He knows everyone else will be able to pay for their own rooms but still... maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea to get involved with this guild... but at the same time they can't exactly go around tying themselves to places. Can he even rightly join the guild since he's not a citizen of Radiance? Hesitating, he chuckles and says, "We'll be needing a place to stay for the night, so I think we can safely say that well be back."
He goes quiet for a moment before saying hesitantly, "I... don't know if I should be the one to tell you this, but... Well, it seems you know Arthur and his friends pretty well so I think you have a right to know. ...Leonard didn't make it out of the battle with the false dragons. He fought valiantly, as did they all. I...wish I could tell you more, but I was...well, occupied with my own battle..." He trails off, feeling a little guilty and hoping he isn't making a mistake by bringing this up. "It uh... well that loss hit their group pretty hard. They seem alright though, and they went to Glazing Winds to see what they can do there."
Trying to choose his next words carefully he says, "Kirai was...well he and his group were tracking a woman who was behind the creation of the false dragons. It just so happened that she was connected to a mystery our group is trying to solve as well...which is linked to something that happened recently in Glazing Winds. I... would tell you more about that, but I don't think its my place to... its not my story to tell." He pauses, then smiles saying, "Well, I suppose I can say that Gwen is now in command of the town, and she has claimed the Dawnblade." Pausing again, and lets out a breath, "There I go again, getting side tracked. Anyways, we've actually come here to seek audience with the Vintsvents. You wouldn't happen to have any advice on how to go about doing that? I...uh...well, you can probably tell that most of us aren't from Radiance."
Corvus listens to Flynn explain what the boards were for and how much rooms would cost. They weren't guild members, but they had certainly done the job of one. He stays silent on that matter though, hoping that maybe Drezmir would unintentionally get their fee waived. If not, he would pay for his own room and hope no one asks to share one with him.
Those boards were interesting, he'd never heard of surfing on the wind. However, they were useless to him, he can fly on his own. As he thinks this he unconsciously ruffles his wings. Crow returns to him, and to his irritation, the little dragon hadn't found out anything useful. Instructing the creature to inconspicuously watch the hooded figures, he turns to Jess while Drezmir continues to talk with Flynn. "Those men in the corner," He whispers, "They are clearly watching us. We should figure out why. I would think the Vintsvents would have hired more inconspicuous spies, but I don't know of any other groups who would be interested in us. ...Unless of course that eledrin isn't connected to them."
Jess stands encouragingly at Drez's side as he speaks for the group. She rests her hand on his arm and says, "Speak well." Giving him guidance in case it is needed during his interaction with Flynn.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
(Only just now noticed Corvus whispering to Jess)
Jess takes in what Corvus has to say, murmurs a short prayer to nature to give her intuition (guidance), (guidance on Drezmir ended if happening concurrently), then she says to Corvus,
“Watch my back.”
She catches Juzi’s eye and gestures for him to follow her. Then she confidently walks over to the group of watchers and addresses them.
“Hello, my name is Jess. My friends and I noticed that you were taking some interest in us. May I be of some assistance to you?”
As she interacts with these folk she will attempt to discern their intentions and the truthfulness of what they say, if possible.
Corvus’ head flinches slightly like one might do when a fly buzzes in one’s ear. Ignoring the comment for the moment he nods to Jess and wordlessly instructs Crow to follow her. The little Dragon flaps its wings then lands on the genasi’s shoulder.
As Jess walks over to meet the hooded figures, Corvus turns to address Kocino. “They may be in charge or they may not be. Based on the information we found, I’m sure they were the ones pulling his strings. However, that doesn’t make them the puppet master. So yes, they are likely pawns in a greater plan, but they are this city’s military force, which means they have a lot of power here.”
Juzi had remained quiet as he seemed quite pole-axed from being inside a building such as this. He hadn't been in any buildings where the noisy people lived for as far back as he could remember (though he occasionally got flashes of memories from when he was little...). He had heard some of the exchange between this 'Flynn' and his newfound friends. Nothing had particularly except talk of the boards. Juzi went wide-eyed at the thought of flying. He pouted a little as he came to the conclusion that Juzi probably just didn't understand what was actually being said. Flying?? That was way too big!
With a quiet and accepting sigh, Juzi turned away from looking at the boards and saw Jess gesture to him. Perking up immediately, he half hopped to her side and then met her pace, ready for anything.
The armored bartender had slowly curled his lips into a smile as Drezmir talked of Arthur.
"Ahh I suppose that makes sense, Kirai is a fine leader but a poor people person I'm afraid."
His smile had begun to erupt into a hearty laughter as his blue eyes began brighten looking toward Drezmir.
"You'll enjoy the challenge my friend, the boards require the presence of a large flying winged beast, to "surf" upon the winds that are created so to speak. We do have a training ground that replicates those winds however!"
He nods at Drezmir upon the mention of the rooms, he seemed serious about Drezmir having a free first night. However his smile would not last as news of Leonard left Drezmir's lips left out in the open air. One could see the wind fall from the sails of Flynn, his smile slowly fading into a neutral expression and his eyes showing a tinge of pain.
"I see.. Leonard... Before you could even learn how to use frost maiden.. Poor kid. You say you know his friends? You seem to have fought hard by his side. There is a blade.. At his home, one I was only meant to have guards watch until his return but.. Well... could you hold onto it? At least until his friends decide what to do with it? I don't want to risk anything happening to it. I know it's a poor favor to ask a stranger... Had you asked about the blade I wouldn't have trusted this news but.. You seemed more interested in the boy than the blade it seems. Ahh the women Kirai hunts? I know little of her.. But he does ask me for plenty of information surrounding that woman. I have my suspicions of whom she may be but nothing concrete yet"
He nods upon the news of Kirai setting forth and Gwen taking charge. He seems oddly confused by this but it's when he mentions her wielding the Dawnblade his jaw completely drops.
"What..? What of Simon? In charge? Ahh, I know money was tight in Glazing Winds last I checked. That is..Certainly news not all nobles would be happy to hear the sudden change of heir's in the Dawnblades so I'd be careful who you alert this too. As for an audience? The fastest way is having a knight agree to go with you! Or you could head to the castle and ask the front guard to schedule an appointment but if you do not have any status I'm afraid that will take some time...They are holding a rather important meeting today as well. Were I still a knight of Radiance I would offer you my aid but sadly I am no longer."
As Corvus had sent his little dragon to keep an eye on the cloaked men and women they had looked to Drezmir and to Corvus before looking to Jess and Sy. Even pondering a look to Juzi and Kocino before standing up they had begun to slowly make their leave from the guild. They seem to stand up after seeing Kocino's somatic components for a spell? (Hand gestures)
However they were stopped by Jess, they had all given a slight start a stop. They however were deathly silent, as quiet as the grave. This odd interaction had grabbed the looks of a few passerby's. Jess had done another cast of guidance. The somatic and verbal aspects make a few of these patrons nervous but those more versed in magic don't seem to worried by her spell. However the brutes unaware of her spell were staring at her from different angles of the bar. Her and these strange cloaked figures now in the spotlight. From her insight she only had stiffness and silent cloaked figured to gain from but even that alone itself could be a clue to the insightful Jess. The fact they didn't wanna speak? Held themselves on guard? Ready to strike at a moments notice? Something about these figures clearly wasn't friendly. She gets the feeling that if this weren't a public place? This would have already turned into a brawl of sorts
Normally, the mention of some mysterious weapon would have interested Corvus, but he has far to many other things on his mind to be distracted by such a thing. However, Corvus's attention quickly turns to Flynn when the knight mentions the woman Kirai hunts. There is a slight look of disappointment when the man says he knows little of her, but the birdman speaks up nonetheless. "Please, tell us your suspicions good sir. Anything can help in this hunt. Kirai is not the only one who has a quarrel with that woman." He has to stop himself from scraping his claws together at the thought of that woman and that demon. With the news of Leonard's death out, he is careful to keep his tone nonthreatening though he cannot keep the bitterness out of his voice. "I would also like to see her downfall, I have good reason to believe she is in league with an even greater foe and if she is not stopped, Leonard will not be her last victim."
He seems like he would say more, but his attention is drawn back to Jess as the room falls silent. Seeing the tension, he turns from Flynn and glides up beside Jess, positioning himself opposite of Juzi. "We do not wish for confrontation. Especially not here." He says smoothly, "But you are clearly interested in us. You cannot blame us for wanting to know why." Though he remains in a nonthreatening posture, he has a dangerous look in his deep red eyes, and the clinking of his metal talons sound from within his sleeve.
Sy stares back at the cloaked people through unfathomable eyes through his plague doctor’s mask. He just sits there, staring. The fiend in his bagpipes also begin staring, with glowing red eyes that looked like it was stitched into the pattern of the instrument. It wasn’t, just the eyes of a fiend with every growing power.
Drez is caught a little off guard when Flynn asks him and his company to look after this...sword. "Are you sure? I mean... I am honored that you would entrust this to us, but... I'm not sure how long we are going to stay here in the capitol...and I'm not sure the blade will be any safer with us then where it is." He pauses, shaking his head, "What am I saying? If you wish for us to guard it, I will guard it with my life. If fate is in our favor, we would like to meet up with Kirai's group again, so perhaps we can deliver it to them when that time comes." He hesitates, "If... you wish, I may be able to get into contact with them via sending stones. Perhaps not directly, but last I heard they were helping Gwen... uh, well... regardless I think I can get a message to them. The last thing I would want would be to spirit that sword away only to have them show up sometimes after we left to find out that we've taken it." If Flynn is willing to give them a free room for the night, then protecting this blade is the least he can do in return.
After a moment he says, "If you would excuse my asking... Kirai wasn't very forthcoming with information about that woman, so if you have any information--anything at all--that you think could help us take her down, then it would be very much appreciated. Kirai isn't the only person she's hurt. And..." He pauses again, having been taken by surprise by Flynn's reaction to his explanation about Gwen. "Well, lets just say she had something to do with why Simon is no longer in charge of Glazing Winds."
"Thanks for the warning, about watching who I tell about... Glazing winds. I'll keep that in mind," he gives an awkward chuckle. "You can probably tell I'm rather ignorant about... well nobility. I was never involved in politics...at least not directly... not that I know of anyways." He frowns, a few thoughts crossing his mind--most of which had never occurred to him before. But he pushes those aside and continues, answering Flynn about the audience with the Vintsvents, "Well... thanks anyways." He rubs the back of his neck again, feeling a little awkward as he asks, "I don't suppose a newly knighted knight of Glazing Winds would count? I...well, happen to be just that. Not that I'm entirely used to or comfortable with the idea of this... minor noble business, but if it could help get us an audience then I suppose I'll have to learn to play the part." He looks down for a moment, wishing desperately that Gilded had been able to stay with them for this. The paladin was both a citizen of Radiance, and seemed far more capable of... well whatever it is they are trying to do here.
Surprised by Jess’ bold approach to the hooded men, Kocino sits back and watches the interaction. He looks over each of the hooded figures and gives them a polite wave.
Jess waits for a response from the hooded ones. She also notices how many in the tavern show displeasure at the display of magic.
How many are in this group of hooded silent ones? Can she tell anything about them, see their faces, tell their build, carrying weapons, stuff like that?
The man had looked to Corvus surprised by his sudden burst of speech, he offered a slight grin to him.
"Well.. I could send you somewhere who may know her better than I.. If my theory holds water. Though it's only a lead I would charge you 15 gold pieces, I charge anyone who comes here asking questions. I do collect information after all. However if you'd share with me who you all are.. Names and titles and what you're up to? Well.. If the info is juicy enough to sell than I'll tell you for free friend."
He says this until Corvus had claimed that Leo was "Her" victim. His smirk had turned rather contemplative as he gave a low sigh.
"Ahh.. I can't tell if you're being sincere or simply turning advantage of a useful situation friend. I've seen many who made progress over the death of others.. Though I can't ponder what you gain from finding her? Besides a bounty perhaps.. but still... If you traveled beside them perhaps I am being paranoid."
Flynn looks over to see Corvus and Jess had come into some sort of staring match. Sy had even stared at these cloaked figures. Flynn kept an eye on them before continuing his conversation with Drezmir now in a hushed whisper.
I am grateful.. That you would guard it, I will tell you of that woman. Since you are doing me a favor.. I believe she may be Ayumi Akarui the fallen noble. I'll mark on you're map the Akarui residence it's the radiant district not too far from the castle. The head of the house may be able to share more.. If that is indeed her."
He leans in nodding closer to Drezmir before whispering in his ear to his offer of getting in contact.
"Letting them know is a good idea but not here.. Those guys seem to have an eye on you.. Be careful they don't follow you. I'm not sure if they are thieves or what but.. I'd hate to see a friendly face taken away so soon. I am grateful, in you're debt honestly you're kindness and consideration is more noble than any actual noble I've met."
He seems in a rush to get Drezmir away from this situation but he stops when he ask about his title and how it can be used to meet the royal family.
Yes.. That would actually work, you'd be able to enter under the guise to pledge yourself to the king and queen. Or perhaps you could think of some other reason I'm sure. Trust me I used to lie a few times to see the queens face myself.. Haha!"
These hooded figures stare down at Corvus, a few them seem to hesitate by Corvus's thousand yard stare but the ones with sterner will had looked his way. Jess with her passive perception can see they have weapons hidden probably small blades. Daggers/Shortswords and such and maybe a hand crossbow? Nothing like a greatsword or even a longsword. They all seem light. Though as she waits for a response from them she will find herself wanting as they offer nothing. Looking to the robed in the lead nudges for the others to follow with a hand gesture. As he begins to walk past Corvus and Jess with the others offering only silence to his remark. Patrons at the bar seem.. Nervous to see such a thing transpire but only for a moment before they begin to resume drinking and laughing.
Corvus does not move as the hooded figures brush past him. However, his burning gaze follows them until they pass behind him.
(If they continue out the door despite Jess blowing the hood off...)
Corvus waits until they leave, then commands Crow to follow them then report back. (He can telepathically communicate with him for one mile after that Crow will have to just come back and tell him after following...assuming they don't spot and kill him.)
Stealth for Crow: 17 + 4 = 21
Perception for Crow: 3 + 3 = 6
(If the hooded people leave)
Once the group leaves, Corvus turns back to Flynn. He is not fond of paying for information, especially if that information wasn't guaranteed to be useful. He's not fond of the possibility of someone buying information about him either, not that his name would mean much to most people. "The only thing I will gain from that woman's death, is peace of mind and a fraction of vengeance. Like I said before, I have reason to believe she is working with an even greater evil." He closes his eyes, calming his emotions, "I did not know him very well, but I respected Leonard. He was a good fighter, fighting for a worthy cause." His voice is sincere and he clenches both fists, causing a muffled scraping noise to sound from his metal grip. He opens his eyes and looks at Flynn. "I am hunting this woman, because she is the first lead I've had in years. She may lead me to the one I am hunting. This is the closest I've been to finding that bloody demon that I've ever been. That is why I am here. My name is Corvus Blackwing, and I am here seeking vengeance. That is all."
Drezmir nods slowly, taking in Flynns words and pulling out the map for him to mark the location. "Thank you, this... this is really helpful," he says doing his best not to glance at the figures that Jess and Corvus are dealing with. "Does Kirai know of this? Or have you not had the chance to tell him?" He decides that if the answer is the latter, he will wait until after they investigate to let Kirai know. No point in letting him know if it hasn't been confirmed, especially when he is to far away to do anything with the information.
"Alright, I'll get the message to them when I'm alone," he adds. He plans to speak to Gwen again as soon as the sending stone is recharged. Perhaps he'll have a room to himself, then he can talk privately about... the other thing as well. "As for the blade..." he whispers, not wanting the people around him to hear. "I'll need to know where...where it is. And... if it would be possible. I would prefer it if either you or someone you trust could accompany me to retrieve it. I don't want your guards thinking I'm a thief."
Pledge himself to the king and queen? Could he even legally do that as a Romalian citizen? Surely not. He hesitates...he'll figure out another excuse. Fate will decide what happens from there. He'll just have to trust in Fulgur and fate. He gives a small laugh at Flynn's remark and says, "Alright. Well that will make this much easier. Thank you. You don't know how much you've just helped us." He smiles widely. If his status as a knight can get them an audience quickly, then perhaps they should take some time to do other things first. He'll have to run this by his comrades once they are ready to head out.
Sy diverts his gaze over to Flynn, before hesitantly saying: “I am Syktyvkyr Kpsyc. My motive here? Aiding the rest of the party on whatever troubles them, and gathering information. Do not be intimidated by my red-eyed gaze, or my many accessories. People passing by may have previously called me ‘He whom brings curiosity’ or ‘He who listens but never speaks’ or ‘The Doctor of Death and Mystery’ due to my appearance and how I act. If you cannot pronounce my name, merely call my Sy. I simply gather information that may be of use to others.” Sy proceeds to look at the bagpipes, and the illusion from a fiend on his bagpipes allows a pair or glowing red eyes to form. The eyes look at Flynn.

Drezmir, deciding to ignore the whispers for now turns to the barkeeper with a smile and extends his hand in greeting. "Well hello, yes we are looking for rooms as my friend here asked." Cool sounds good! But Corvus sadly heard more than his pet had haha
It's an inn/guild/tavern ^~^
Air of a noble? Drez isn't sure how to take that. He gives an awkward chuckle and rubs the back of his neck absentmindedly. That is, until Leonard is mentioned. He briefly wonders if he should include that he is a knight of Glazing winds, but decides he'd rather not encourage the fellow calling him a noble or 'sir'.

Kocino casts Minor Illusion and creates a whisper in Corvus’ ear. “I don’t know the Vintsvents are in charge. They may be pawns in this like Simon.”
Insight 17 + 3 from guidance
Intimidation: 16
Jess will cast gust to blow the hood off the head of the apparent leader.
I simply gather information that may be of use to others.”
Sy proceeds to look at the bagpipes, and the illusion from a fiend on his bagpipes allows a pair or glowing red eyes to form. The eyes look at Flynn.
