“I’m sure we’ll be fine, just fine. Still, maybe would be best to keep your weapons nearby… just a precaution really… Can you go and fetch them?”
With further needling you can pry from the captain that he’s worried that this area is rumored to be inhabited by a sea monster, but it shouldn’t be a problem as long as there’s some wind and the ship is proceeding through the area at a reasonable clip.
Fro will go get her weapons and keep them on her. If she sees the other goliaths, she will tell them what the captain said. Probably good to have in a fight with monsters.. lol
The captain nods absent-mindedly. "Yes, yes, we have oars. Just pray we do not have to use them. We will see in the morning what the weather brings."
DAY EIGHT since being exposed to the powder in Hulil's thrown vial
DAY SEVEN of the sea voyage
The sea is eerily quiet as the sun rises. No wind. The sails hang limply. The captain orders the oars brought out, and that rowing commence. He also asks that you stand on the main deck with your weapons handy. "Just in case," he says.
There’s enough rigging for everyone to have a spot. The race is to go up and then down. At a signal from the first mate, you all leap onto your section and begin to climb. Fro is in the lead, with Cyro and Faloniir making a good showing of it, and Icewalker and Wolfhunter’s practice has obviously paid off as they are neck and neck with Fro.
Faloniir, as you reach the top of your rigging there’s something you notice out of the corner of your eye. You turn to look starboard and are surprised to see an eyeball blinking at you. The eyeball is about the size of a small melon, 20 feet up in the air, about 20 feet off the starboard bow, supported in the air by a long sinuous eyestalk coming out of the water. Looking down into the waters below, you get the impression of a large, indistinct shape under the water.
Fro touches back down on the main deck just a hair faster than the other two goliaths, just in time to see several thin, sinuous, weaving tentacles rise up out of the water on either side of the ship, then curve in, lunging at several sailors. The crew erupts in panicked shouting!
((I’ll need to make a longer post when able, just now’s not a good time, hopefully soon))
There are three tentacles, each has grabbed a sailor, wrapping them around the middle! The sailors struggle mightily but can't get loose. Other sailors are running around shouting, it's pure chaos. Captain Hightower is shouting orders but his voice is hoarse with strain and can't be heard over the chaos.
Icewalker is quick to act, taking up his axe, running to the nearest tentacle, and cleaving it right through. Purplish liquid spills out as the tentacle remnant slides writhing back into the ocean, while the severed end falls limply off the sailor. You see blood around the sailor's middle where he was grabbed. A moment later the sailor's eyes roll back and he collapses to the deck.
Fro is quick to follow, similarly slicing one of the other tentacles cleanly, though the sailor it had grabbed has a similar reaction to the first.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Initiative: 3 Cyro will attack with both shortswords. (Bonus action for two weapon fighting, and he has that as fighting style.) To hit 1:16 to hit 2: 25 Damage 1:9 Damage 2: 4
Cyro hits the deck, grabs his weapons, and rushes the last tentacle, slicing it up before it can withdraw its captive. Slicing seems pretty effective against these tentacles.
((I was using the same initiative from the rigging race but rerolling is fine too, I’m not picky))
The captain furls his map and smiles weakly.

Faloniir will say, "I don't suppose you have any oars on board? I've heard of ships keeping some handy in case they're stuck in the doldrums."
Fro will go get her weapons and keep them on her. If she sees the other goliaths, she will tell them what the captain said. Probably good to have in a fight with monsters.. lol

Cyro listens and grabs his bow and puts his shortswords in his belt. He nocks an arrow, and prepares for any enemy.
Fro is on deck as well.
The other goliaths pace as well, weapons strapped to their backs. Their faces betray no emotion.
Rigging climb is a race and we will make 3 rolls: roll initiative, athletics check, and acrobatics check.
Faloniir initiative: 13
Acrobatics: 8
Athletics: 20
Initiative: 4 Athletics: 9 Acrobatics: 16
Initiative: 9
Athletics: 20
Acrobatics: 20
(OOC: do Cyro and I get disadvantage or anything from our sickness on the race? You said we lost 5 movement)
What will you do for Tug of War.. same as arm wrestling?

Fro, yes you’re a little slower, and Cyro too, than you normally would be, but you really had a great roll so you’re still doing great!
Faloniir will yell, "AVAST!" hoping to get everyone to stop and listen. He'll then point and shout, "There's something to starboard, a large creature!"
Fro hears Faloniir yell, she thinks 'Hes cheering me on, great guy.' and continues to climb as hard as she can.

(OOC: no prob..)
Initiative: 15
Fro grabs her axe, that she laying close. And charges at on of the tentacles, slicing down on it.
"AAArrrrgggg, something to fight." Fro feels much better releasing some aggression she has held since learning she was sick.
To hit: 16 Damage: 5
Bonus action. Fro will go into a rage
