"Thank you Banyan for your help, and no, there are no hard feelings. " Fro looks at the remaining group. "I do not need the dagger, if one of you guys need it, take it."
Faloniir clasps Banyan's forearm and nods as he says, "Thank you for all of your help thus far. Good luck to you." He'll then offer the dagger to Cyro. If Cyro declines it, Falonirr will take it.
Cyro takes the dagger, as it is a neat and good weapon. Finely polished, he likes it. “Thank you Faloniir. And Elro, I will only ask for these things. A chain shirt and a shield.”
Elro hands over the vial, wrapped in a heavy wool cloth, to Cyro. He sizes you up and rubs his chin:
"Hmm, mail and shield at your size is an interesting challenge... I'll see what I can do."
Cyro, you see that the vial is a glass or glass-like material of beautiful blue with no discernable lid, stopper, or other opening. It catches the light and sends refracted light sparkling on the walls and floor. Up close you see a faint network of fine cracks in the glass.
(A chain shirt. Different from chainmail because no disadvantage on stealth and 15 ac +2 ac from shield. That’s why I chose it. Cheap in terms of armour and effective.)
Faloniir is ready to head out when the morning comes. He will spend the rest of the day checking his gear, checking off a mental list of necessary supplies, and discussing with Elro what he's learned in greater detail.
Elro explains that his contact in Syrinlya is a young dwarf names Orvo Mustave. He has run several excursions with Urgon in the past. "He learned from the best," he says with a sad sort of smile. Elro has been in communication with the young dwarf, and Orvo is willing and eager to help you in your quest to navigate the Eiselcross, find the Salsvault, and obtain the cure -- for a price.
"Orvo has a good heart, but he is young and lusts after riches. He's hoping to incidentally find some nice treasure at the Salsvault. I hope you can see it his way; to him it's win-win. I just wanted to be honest with you about the situation."
Furthermore, Elro explains that there is someone in Syrinlya known as "The Buyer". He has a magical chest that can teleport items across long distances, including to an outpost near Palebank Village. "You bring the cure back to Syrinlya, then you can have it sent here more quickly and securely than a return voyage by sea." It was via these magic chests that Elro was able to have such quick correspondence with Orvo Mustave.

DAY TWO since being exposed to the powder in Hulil's thrown vial
Next morning, Elro takes you to the ship waiting in Palebank Village's small harbor. He introduces you to the Captain, named Credo Hightower, a stoutly built water genasi with swirling green skin and eyes like stormclouds. You learn that the journey to Syrinlya will take approximately 9 days.
Captain Hightower says: "Elro has paid for yer passage, includin' meals. Now, we're a friendly bunch, and don't mind swappin' stories and such, and if any of ye have the knack of storytellin', well, it can go a long way to ease the passin' of time. We just ask that ye let the crew do their job, don't be interferin' when they're busy, stay belowdecks when the seas are rough, and don't make a ruckus. Then we'll get along jus' fine!"
Elro informs Cyro: "Your request took some doing but the blacksmith was able to quickly make some modifications to a small chain shirt that he had on hand." He hands you the shirt and a shield. Then it's goodbyes as you board the ship. Elro wishes you gods-speed.
You notice that you are not the only passengers to board the ship this morning. A few others are embarking, most notably a pair of goliath men that tower over everyone else. They have frowning faces, enormous weapons slung over their backs (one a great sword and the other a great axe), and they carry a lot of luggage between them. Fro, you notice dark tattoos covering their skin, but in unfamiliar patterns, signaling to you that they originate far from your own family's location.
Captain Hightower shows you your quarters, which are admittedly pretty tight. The three of you are expected to share a tight cabin, with Faloniir getting to sleep on a bunkbed while a sort of hammock has been modified to accommodate Fro's dimensions. Fro in the hammock can't help but take up most of the free space of the cabin. Cyro gets to share the other bunk with all your gear.
Fro notices the other Goliaths and makes a note to talk to them later. As her and her comrades are settling into their very tight space, she wonders aloud. "I wonder how much faster this boat may get us to Syrinlya if he somehow thought he also had the disease."
Faloniir will nod to Captain Hightower, "Permission to come aboard Captain?" He'll listen as the Captain lays out his expectations and says, "I can do that, no problem. If you need help with anything I can follow directions really well too. I'd rather my time be productive if possible." In the cabin, Faloniir will say to Fro and Cyro, "I won't need a bunk as I don't require sleep. I just need four hours to meditate in peace. If we can work out a time where I can do that while you two are either sleeping or elsewhere, you can use the bunk assigned to me for whatever purpose you wish." He'll stow his gear on the top bunk, allowing Cyro to have full use of the bottom bunk.
The ship departs! The weather is quite cold, made worse by the sea spray which tends to harden into ice on whatever surface it can. Part of the sailors’ duties is to knock the ice off of ropes and sails, and sweep it away. At times the deck can be a treacherous slippery place. But later in the day the seas calm and the sea spray is less of an issue.
That first night the 2 Goliath passengers are at dinner with you and a few other passengers. They’ve brought a lot of hard liquor with them, which they drink freely, and they become loud and obnoxious. They’re the two biggest people on board (perhaps excepting Fro) and they know it. They talk in loud voices, brag about their mercenary exploits which include killing people, make rude jokes, and sing loud drinking songs together.
Fro walks over and sits down with the 2 goliaths. "Hello my fellow mountain men." She says with a smile. "What brings you 2 onto this ship to nowhere?"
The pair of goliaths eye Fro appreciatively and welcome her at the table. One pushes a mug in her direction, the other un stoppers his ceramic decanter and pours into the mug a liquid looking like dirty water. It’s what they’ve been drinking. In the same motion he tops off his own mug and his partner’s. As he does so, he speaks,
“I’m Icewalker. This is Wolfhunter. Drink this, it’s our own brew.”
Icewalker is tall even for a goliath, with a downturned mouth that makes him appear to be scowling, even when he laughs. Wolfhunter is thicker, muscles rippling with every movement, and his arms are criss-crossed with scars.
Faloniir gets barely a glance, and no mug offered.
After another drink, Wolfhunter looks at Fro and says,
“We are same as you, going to earn coin. Scouting, bodyguarding, whatever silly explorers need.”
Hearing this, Cyro speaks with the goliaths. “Actually, we are going for scientific research. It is very important, to cure a disease. But it’s nice to know you two are willing to do what it takes for these explorers.” Cyro is so short (even for a gnome) that his eyes barely go past the height of the table, even on the chair.

"I am ready to leave as soon as the boat is."
Faloniir hands Elro the following list:
Arrows x 60 for 3gp
Hammer x 1 for 1gp
Crowbar x 1 for 2gp
Ball Bearings (Bag of 1,000) x 3 for 3gp
Caltrops (Bag of 20) x 3 for 3gp
Ram, Portable x 1 for 4gp
16gp in total.

Faloniir: Elro obtains your items for you, free of charge, his pleasure.
It's a free day for you guys in the town, if there's anything you'd like to do. The boat departs at first light next the morning.
Cyro takes the dagger, as it is a neat and good weapon. Finely polished, he likes it. “Thank you Faloniir. And Elro, I will only ask for these things. A chain shirt and a shield.”
The other vial, Cyro will investigate it in hopes of getting closer to a cure. Investigation: 7

(I say 15 ac because the 13 + Dex bonus it says to add; which is maximum of 2; and shield for 17 total AC)
