Gloix going through the next obstacle is not a pretty thing. He is banged and batted and is forced to retreat and reattempt multiple times before finally making his way through looking dazed, disheveled and a little winded.
(One of these days I'll figure out how people edit posts without it flagging the warning. Just added in attempt 3 after failing the 2nd to not spam the board.
And DM picked up on the Bardic Inspiration . didn't roll because it wasn't needed. Just needed the 1)
Zaius realizes too late that the pole is covered by a thick coating of grease as he loses his grip and slides back to the bottom. He grimaces in disgust and tries again to reach the top and ring the bell. Athletics: 12.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Zaius almost slips off the pole, and only his natural glide reaction saves him from taking a little falling damage; Roy isn't so lucky and is knocked off the swinging rope by a mace and takes 2 bludgeoning damage. But both succeed on their respective second tries, as does Gloix on his third. Meanwhile Rel makes it through both the last two obstacles.
[Let's wrap this up. I'll take one more Athletics roll for the last stage from Gloix and Roy: beat 7 and you succeed, otherwise you'll still succeed but take 2 damage in the process. Then it's on to the next activity, I think you still have the ship inspection and the spelljammer basic training to go?]
Zaius claps his hands and tries to encourage Gloix as he completes the last obstacle, trying to help by pointing out the grease and calling out suggestions on the best way to make it up to the bell on top.
Gloix moves forward through the last obstacle and its only through Zaius' help that he spots the grease spot and skirts around it to avoid slipping. "Thank you!" his voice calls in Zaius' head as he makes it past. "I.. did not do well"
Though it may have taken a few tries on some of the challenges, you've all completed the assault course with only a few minor bruises to show for it! Will you next head up a couple of levels to the Spelljammer Nexus for basic training for those of you joining that branch, or all the way up to the Sky Dock to inspect a real spelljamming vessel?
You make your way all the way to the top of the island; reaching the top level, a security checkpoint waves you through after seeing your blue helmets, onto a busy docking area with many different kinds of ship arriving, departing, taking on or unloading cargo. Most carry the flag of the Spelljamemer Fleet, but there are a spattering of other flags, presumably independent merchants or passenger vessels.
Two gnomes, both with walnut-colored skin and carefully groomed long black hair in tidy buns, and wearing meticulously maintained uniforms with white gloves, are talking quietly near a moored ship. Slender with large bulges near the bow, and large ventral and tail fins, the vessel appears to have been modelled after a hammerhead shark. Noticing your arrival, one of the gnomes flashes a huge grin that highlights a red scar down her cheek, and calls out, "Aha, our latest batch of recruits, now the fun part begins. It's time to learn your way around—"
"—a spelljamming ship," the second cuts in, with a more serious expression. "Pay attention, because when you're away from port knowing your boat is the number one thing that will keep you alive. My name is Kip, and this is my my sister—"
"—Pik! Don't mind my brother too much. Come, come aboard and let's start the tour!"
Rel eagerly follows the gnomes, eyes wide as he tries to take in every detail, memorizing them for the song he will write later about his first day in the Academy.
“Name is Zaius”he nods to the two gnomes as he follows them aboard the ship with the others “why does this look like a shark? They got those in the astral sea?”

(let's stick together as long as possible so Rel votes ship inspection next)
Xavier looks at the group, then shrugs. "I really don't have much choice huh? Let's go look at ships"
Gloix nods in agreement to Xavier, pointing toward sthe direction of the Sky Dock. Or at least where he thinks it is
