Our son is twelve. Thankfully, he's still a sweet guy, hugs me every day and is not yet too cool for me. Probably just a matter of time, though!
Sorry, didn't end up having much time today, but thanks again @Bushawk. Good stuff. I'll DM you some ideas later - take 'em or leave 'em.
Aino tries to connect back to her elven family and the old reclusive hermit and mentor who taught her Bladesinging. None of them will have her. She is too far gone, regardless of how loyal she is to her friends or her goodness towards the helpless, she is irredeemably evil to her enemies.
"Do you remember where the heart is, Aino?" her father asks sadly.
"Yes, father," she nods. Aino does remember. "That is where I stick the pointy end of my blade."
@Bushawk - I dropped you a long note in our PM (the one you started labeled 'Ray of Enfeeblement') with some ideas on ways to work with rules sticklers like me so that everyone is all right with things - just from my experiences in this and other campaigns. No obligation to read, but I thought you might be interested.
I want to stress again that I enjoyed this campaign and really appreciated your DM'ing!
Casey thanks the group for closing the portal and letting her get back inside. Looking around at the destruction, she says “Death be tellin me this ain’t over- Void plans to collapse everythin, and we’ve gots to be ready. Death says Void’s got a new champion, gonna destroy the city and kill all the heroes, so he kin open the void portal again, and this time all will be lost.. the magic o’ the void is as it eats, it grows more n more powerful. We’ve gots to stop it fer good. Death thinks we’ve gots three days to get ready, then somethin big is gonna attack the city. He don’t know where, but he heard from some of the souls void kilt that it’s comin.”
The characters have 3 days following the last battle to equip, rest, cast spells, and meet each other(post any RP and etc). The third day dawns with a blood-red sky, every cloud shaped like skulls and clawed skeletal hands. The general public is in total panic, some fleeing, some hiding, some committing crimes of wanton recklessness- the end of the world is here seems to be the general belief. The last copper themselves are mostly seen as heroes- but a more skeptical (or disgruntled) minority have blamed the party itself for bringing the destruction of the VOid on. Some have turned to worship of the void, dressing in black and praying for the end…
Casey looks at the sky and whistles..:”Red sky In Morn, sailors take warn…” she says.
There is a horrific noise, like a discordant horn so loud as to leave the entire city’s ears ringing- those close to the sound have blood coming from their ears, as The bloody sky seems to split open, and a gargantuan beast falls to the farm fields to the east of the city, crushing a barn as it does.
the creature, the Void Champion, is A horrific scaly biped, fifty feet tall and seventy feet long, weighing hundreds of tons. It carries itself like a bird of prey, leaning forward and using its powerful lashing tail for balance. It moves with incredible speed, grabbing and swallowing whole cattle, villagers, and smashing whole buildings as it approaches the city. The civilians, even the city guard, are fleeing in total panic.
Yes you can pretty much get whatever you want, but no more than one more legendary item. The powers that be see the party as the only hope, so are willing to give them anything they can get their hands on.
feel free to do other preparations (but no meta gaming based on the creature- just use what casey said death told you.
it’s a classic DND monster, but (spoiler alert) I’m giving it some extra stuff so it won’t be too easy.
On day 2 a short stocky human approaches the party. He has an unkempt beard and short brown hair. Most of his body is covered in tattoos. He is wearing the garb of one of the Syndicate assassins.
Names Jarn Henfa. I'm a wet worker for the family. I'm working with you lot now. To be the strongest must learn from then kill the strongest. Anyways what's coming Capt says its big and killing it make me the strongest.
Thanks @Tesservett. I did level Aino up earlier, but I have limited time this weekend, so I'm just going to give her the same gear and prep she had at the beginning of @Bushawk's final fight, including the scrolls and potions. Legendary Ring of Three Wishes has 2 charges left.
Also due to time constraints, let's say Aino's prep is also the same as before (see post 1512) EXCEPT the 9th level spell she casts on herself:
Of course Aino now has 9th level spells. There is something absolutely amazing a normal bladesinger can do at 17th level: the Shapechange which lets her turn into a creature of Challenge Rating equal to her level or below while keeping her features (like bladesinging benefits and spells). You don't get the creature's legendary actions, but you do get the creatures legendary resistances. So at 20th level, she can turn into an Ancient Brass Dragon, then use an action later to turn into an Ancient White Dragon (back to full HP), then a Planetar and then a Marilith and so on. Just continuing to rotate through high CR creatures and adding all her wizard and bladesinging benefits on top of each one, regaining full creature HP every time.
But to do that, she must have seen all these creatures, which she hasn't in this storyline (a normal 20th level character might have). Well, I guess she's seen the equivalent of a Pit Fiend but that's only one - the whole fun is rotating between many. So let's play it clean and skip that. Instead, she casts Foresight on herself. Advantage on everything and all attacks against her are at disadvantage. 8 hour duration, no concentration needed.
Aino Initiative: 14
Aino looks with suspicion towards Jarn at first, but given what they are facing, she decides not to worry about it. "At this point, any ally is a good ally, whatever your motivation is. Let's do this."
Does Casey use her Inspiring Leader feat and also cast Aid as she has been?

Yes- casey will do her usual prep, with some additions from her high level.
Forgot to add Aino's concentration spell. She reads the scroll of Illusory Dragon and concentrates on it.
A huge, shadowy dragon appears 120' up. Aino's allies can see that it is an illusion, though it's still on the scary side.

Jarn will drink the potions and that's about all he can do lol
Sorry away for the weekend will be able to post an update on prep tonight or tomorrow morning
does everyone take a potion of heroism to get bless? I ask because I was probably gonna do that again so Storm can focus on other spells
