You all see a new swirling portal begin to form where the sword had once been, and your bodies inexplicably drawn towards it. The mists swirl around you and you find yourselves in a different part of the maze. The voice laughs again and the lights continue to flash from somewhere in the middle of the maze.
(Everyone make a WIS saving throw, then roll a plain straight d20)
Rai and Ferro take 5 psychic damage as you are pulled through the mists to the new part of the maze.
It takes a while this time to make your way through the maze, as the spirit visages you see now and then do nothing to assuage your fears. Eventually though you break into a wide clearing, where Jhaal sits on an enormous pile of gold, gems, artifacts, books and such, taken from every corner of the globe. In addition, there are golden likenesses of his wife and children, which you see him talking to as if they were real. "Children! My beautiful children! See how you shine like your mother!" But then the sight begins to change, blood running out from Jhaal and down over the treasures, the golden family melting away as he reaches for them, a look of terror and pain on his face.
It all melts into mist as an enormous dragon takes its place, letting out another fierce roar and looks down at you all. "What are you doing here!?" He bellows out with a misty breath.
Ruby looks up in awe at the dragon. She has heard about them of corse but this is her first time seeing one. She composes herself and speaks.
”There is a magical fog destroying the town and all the people within. We came here to determine the cause and put an end to it. You may call me Ruby, what may I call you and how did you end up here?”
"I am Ephialtes, protector of the Dreamkin! This man stole their chest and I am here to make them and everyone pay!"You can tell he is very angry and on the verge of lashing out at you regardless.
"Oh great protector of the Dreamkin, we wish only to aid you and right a wrong. What the people here did was evil, they have shown great disrespect and disregard to your kin. At great peril, we entered the villian's home, found the gemstones to your chest, and restored them to the chest. Please tell us, what else can we do to help Dreamkin and right the wrong?"
The dragon reaches back and pulls out the figure of Jhaal Skhalhammer, looking unconscious, and dangling him out in front of the group. "His blood. The debt is his blood. Kill him yourselves or I will."
Ferro squirms a bit. He had always been careful throughout his career to avoid assassination jobs. Taking someone’s stuff seemed a lot less bad than taking someone’s life. But if it were Jhaal or Ferro… that decision was actually pretty easy.
Getting an idea, and deciding to push his luck a little bit, Ferro humbly grovels before the great Dreamkin and pleads,
“Oh magnificent one, what if we were to kill him slowly? Take him back to our world, throw him in a prison cell, let him rot out the rest of his days in boredom and regret? Would that not be a punishment more fitting than simply putting him out of his misery here and now so quickly?”
”I agree with Belko, this man endangered countless innocent lives out of pure greed. If his death will put and end to the threat against them then so be it! Count him as good as dead Ephialtes!”
Belko Survival: 9

Did the treasure disappear into mist too??
Ferro will kneel before the dragon and say,
"Oh great protector of the Dreamkin, we wish only to aid you and right a wrong. What the people here did was evil, they have shown great disrespect and disregard to your kin. At great peril, we entered the villian's home, found the gemstones to your chest, and restored them to the chest. Please tell us, what else can we do to help Dreamkin and right the wrong?"
(Make a CHA check against the dragon. Make a Perception check for the treasure.)
Charisma check 18
Perception check 9
The treasures all appear to be gone.
The dragon reaches back and pulls out the figure of Jhaal Skhalhammer, looking unconscious, and dangling him out in front of the group. "His blood. The debt is his blood. Kill him yourselves or I will."
Belko raised an eyebrow, " Ah. So if we kill this man then everyone else will be safe?"
" I've no great objections, he's a terrible husband and father and as erstwhile ruler of this region he should be the one to take responsibility."
" And we've read the book that he had. We know Ephialtes speaks true. Jhaal knew exactly what he was doing and acted out of self interest."
He smiled a tight smile, " Any objections my comrades?"

Ruby looks to her companions.
”I agree with Belko, this man endangered countless innocent lives out of pure greed. If his death will put and end to the threat against them then so be it! Count him as good as dead Ephialtes!”
The dragon roars at Ferro, "No! Do not try my patience! His blood...or yours!"
Ferro gulps.
“Alright, his blood it is.”
He eyes his companions, watching for one of them to do the deed. He will avert his gaze when it looks like they’ll do so.
Ruby ask the dragon. A thought entering her head.
"One question for you. If you have had him here and are able to kill him why have you not done so yourself?"
