Finishing up in the northernmost room, the party decides to trek back to the spiral stairway and see what lies above. With wariness, and a little trepidation, each of you ascends the stone and metal stair up into the room above.
For Thont:
As you head up the spiral stairs, you hear a sound, very similar to glass scraping against stone coming from the southern tunnel that leads outside. You peek down for your perch to see what could have made such a noise, but the tunnel looks empty. You can see the light of day unobstructed at the end of the white-stone tube and the familiar breeze drifts freely through its confines. Looking back, it seems the rest of your friends have made it to the room above.
For the party:
The stairway opens into a huge dome-like room, likely the interior of the mammoth structure you saw built atop the crumbling glacier. It appears to have, at one time, been a rather impressive library, though it is now mostly destroyed. Bookcases lie overturned in heaps on the floor, broken covers and spines litter the floor, all scorched and charred, while ashen remnants of paper carpet everything like desiccated leaves of an autumn forest. Of note, there is a large pile of bodies, a mix of large game animals like bear and moose combined with the remains of a few walrus-like humanoid shapes. Near the bottom of the pile, a small halfling figure lies crumpled and cold. Atop the pile, wedged in between the bodies of a pair of elk, a strange sword glitters in the light cast by the giant hole in the northeastern side of the arched ceiling. Along the walls, a pair of stone stairs twist around the dome in a helix-like formation, spiraling up to an opening, and likely another room above.

"The mongoose blew out its candle and was asleep in bed before the room went dark." —Llanowar fable
You find that the sword is maybe hard to look directly at. The glinting of the sun off the blade and hilt seems to waver, mirage-like in the air, and leave your eyes, teary and strained when you try to focus on it. It is likely that you'll have to climb the pile of bodies and get closer to learn more.
For Mirabel:
Either that or made of some strange material that is very reflective. It could go either way. You'd have to climb the pile of bodies and get closer to learn more.
“No such thing as an invisible dragon, there’s no such thing as an invisible dragon” Gavin nervously tries to convince himself as he follows the others into the room. He casts guidance on himself for a bonus of 3, and then does an investigation check of the rest of the room apart from the bodies. Investigation: 8

”My friends, I will need some sleep soon if we want to tackle whatever lives here. My soul needs rest if I am to ask Tempus for more favor. I am concerned he will not answer my prayers.”
((Crack team of investigators we have here today!))
For Gavin:
The room looks trashed. There are scorch marks on the very stone of the floor and charring on all the remains of the wooden shelves and tables. What bits of legible paper you find among the ashes resembles the silvered circular script you've seen elsewhere in this place, though none of it is really decipherable in this state.
For Peren:
The sword is quite a sight to behold...if you could keep your eyes on it for very long. The hilt is made of a silvery metal that leads to a crystalline blade that refracts and reflects the light of the sun in an odd way. There's almost a shimmer about it that resembles a sort of heat mirage in the air that wavers around the clear blade. If not magical, this is quite an odd weapon.

I scramble to to meet everyone and share what I heard below, encouraging everyone to stay on guard. I focus on the halfling at the bottom of the pile and try to pull the body free to get a better look.
The halfling looks to be an adult male, perhaps thirty or so years of age. He is dressed like a tracker or woodsman with a torn pack still strapped to his back. It looks like he was crushed to death, his chest compressed beyond the breaking point. Searching through his pockets you find a small pouch of coins, maybe 10 gold in total, and a familiar looking metal disk.
For Gavin:
That sword is very magical.....like very very magical. There is also a source of great power up above you that you can somewhat feel on the edges of your magical senses.
The sword is a long sword, so it could be used one or two handed.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
((Not sure who else can use that sword other than Kathra and I))
I whisper to everyone “stay here a moment” with a raised hand. I do my best stealth approach up the stairs just enough to view what is giving off the magical aura (as well as anything else) and then I come back down and tell the others what I’ve seen
Stealth (at disadvantage due to hvy armor) 12
((At least I am getting all my crappy rolls out of the way before fighting anything))
There is some serious magic coursing through this crystal long-sword to make it give off that weird mirage-like aura effect around it. You feel that it would take some study ((effectively, attuning to it)) to unlock the mysteries of its true nature and potential ((that or cast Identify)).
Rather unstealithy, you ascend the outer helix stairs to their joining point along the southern ceiling. The stairs empty out into a smaller, circular room, probably thirty feet around. The walls are made of a clearish crystal, thicker than glass, that look out across the valley below. You see all kinds of mirrored baubles and lenses hanging from rafters in the ceiling as well as large tube-like structures with reflective glass inserts set to various angles skyward towards slats in the ceiling that look to be operable with various pulleys around the room. Dominating center of the room is a large crystal tube that seethes with mystical energy. An audible hum can be heard from it as multicolor light dances within. From your spot at the top of the stairs you see a set of cracks or gashes in the crystal.

It's not that Kathra minds being in what is clearly some creature's lair (indeed, it's a fine place for an ambush), it's just that she'd like to know more about the creature before ambushing it. She searches the room looking specifically for more signs of what manner of creature this could be (and whether or not she can find any more of those clear dragon scales that Mirabel is convinced aren't from a creature).
Something large has clearly been in and out of here in the last several days. While you don't see any tracks among all the ruin and garbage on the floor, this pile of frozen animal and people bodies didn't just stack itself here in the room....right? As you poke around the "food pile" as it were, you find another of those crystalline scales. Looking it over, you see no reason it couldn't have come from a living creature, though you are not familiar with any sort of dragon lacking color or being crystalline in appearance.

Peren will investigate the pile and the sword
Investigation = 8
Well that was terrible
Kathra grips her axe tightly and seems, if not nervous, at least a little extra on edge.
"We've walked into something's lair. Something big and dangerous and, from the looks of this pile, fairly hungry. Wonderful."
Striding forward, she takes a look at the sword.
Investigation: 6
((Apparently you can stick the pointy end into something to hurt it?))
"There is absolutely no way that sword is not magical."
Arcana: 4
Probably.

((Can I pick up the sword and bring it down and show it to everyone else))
Peren thinks this is unusual that the room has been destroyed but the sword was left, it may be a bad idea to touch it
Peren finds it hard to not pick up shinny things
((You can totally pick it up. It wouldn't take much to pull it out from in between the two frozen elk bodies.))
Ok, Peren will pull the sword out of the pile and bring it down
((I just hope this sword is not what caused all of this destruction, but Peren would have to do it))
I scramble to to meet everyone and share what I heard below, encouraging everyone to stay on guard. I focus on the halfling at the bottom of the pile and try to pull the body free to get a better look.

I am going to take 10 min and cast ritual version of detect magic and look around the room and sword Peren is carrying.
