Peren agrees, Rhudall was a good companion, and wishes we could have known him long enough to learn more about his culture or at least where he came from
A couple of days worth of travel goes by, almost in a haze. You all take this time to sort of decompress, and come to terms with your most recent adventure, all the strange, wondrous, and in some cases, terrifying things and people you met along the way, and what you are going to tell the people of Refuge when you finally arrive. From the destruction caused by Jokun during your fight, it makes perfect sense that the draconic monster would have the power to level the Lliiran temple, should it have been motivated. You're guessing it accounted for at least a few of the strange lights reported in the sky as well. The carved walrus tusk you have seems a good match for the wounds found on the lost travelers, though how you plan on spinning that tale is up for grabs. You are relatively certain that with the strange errant magical device at the top of the strange structure no longer accidentally shooting energy out across the valley, the random out-of-season avalanches will settle down. Your one hindsight regret is that Helpington will be keeping one of your Climbing Gear deposits, as what remains of that set of gear is buried at the bottom of an avalanche and you really didn't have it in you spend days trying to find and dig it out again.
As you round the last bend and exit through the long mountain tunnel, you see Refuge, as charming and peaceful as it was before, minus the now mostly excavated remains of their destroyed temple. The faint sweet smell of stone-fruit drifts along the soft breeze.

"The mongoose blew out its candle and was asleep in bed before the room went dark." —Llanowar fable
Kathra hesitates briefly as the party nears the town outskirts. It had been nice, up there on the mountain. Well, once they'd killed the dragon anyway. The complete loss of the walrus folk and all they possessed was a bit of a bitter blow, considering that she still has a bunch of weird constellation tattoos and, presumably, nobody living who can explain what the hell it was they encountered up on the mountain. Her clan elders certainly will probably be at a loss.
Additionally, something is still nagging her. Where the hell had that building come from, anyway? What had started the glacier's thaw?
“What do you say we go and have a hot meal and a flagon of...anything.” Gavin poses the most important question of the day, Merric’s or the Inn?”
On the days journey back. Gavin implored his friends not paint the walrus folk as dangerous creatures. They may be back someday, and this town shouldn’t be frightened of them based on our dealings with Rhudall. As far as we know they kept that thing busy enough to keep the rest of the town safe from further attacks.
You wander through the main street and turn down the road to the ever-welcome sight of the Davy Lamp. Passing through the doors, you catch Armond's attention and flash him the sign for food and a stiff drink. As you find a table to slouch around and set down your packs and bags, you notice that the ten or so other townsfolk who were in the establishment already seem to be watching you and quickly whispering among each-other. Armond taps out the menu order on the metal plate by the kitchen window and pulls out five tankard glasses. After filling them with a reddish spicy sweet wine that you vaguely remember was made from the local stone-fruit crop, he brings them over to your table and doles out the round. "So, my friends....." he says, as the whispers die down and the furtive stares from the others are briefly cast aside, ".....before we locals burst from suspense....is there any news?" At that a few held breaths escape their owners. You can tell that there has been quite a bit of hope pinned on your little adventure.
“Armond, good to see you again” as Gavin takes a long drink off the tankard. “I would love to give you some information of what happened up there, but we have an obligation to the people who compensate us for our services...how much is the meal and drink going to cost us today I wonder? I may even be willing to part with a one of a kind souvenir from a beast no one has ever heard of” as Gavin briefly flashes one of the many crystal scales he retrieved.
"Sod that!" Armond replies with a toothy grin. "If your news is that good, food and drinks are on me tonight!" Looking over his shoulder he barks out an order at two of the folks near the door. "Kelem! Barry! Go get Ol' Merric and bring him here. These fine folks have news to share!" Both men bolt out the door and you can see them run up the street towards the manor house.
It's not long after your food arrives, a platter of smoked fish and some sort of delicious smelling vegetable stew and well as fresh rolls and a plate of sliced stone-fruit, that Elder Merric enters the Davy Lamp with his son Grassly a shadow-step behind. Both wander over to your table and Merric sits in an unoccupied chair while Grassly stands tall behind his father, slightly to the left. More townsfolk filter in behind and soon the whole of the Davy Lamp is a bit more crowded than it used to be. Clearing his throat to hush the murmur of the crowd, Merric looks to you all and says "I hear that you are back, and have quite a story to share....and hopefully proof to show of its veracity."
"We found what killed your people. Killed it back." Kathra pulls a scale out of her pack. "A crystalline dragon from some other plane, we think. There was a structure that seemed connected to it all too. Some kind of technology or magic I've never seen before." She gestures to her celestial tattoos. "Gave me some souvenirs."
Gavin adds “Any normal dwarf would have been disentegrated by what did that to her, let alone a human. Kathra here is one of the toughest people I have ever met. Ithank the gods she is on my side! I know as much about that magic up there as I do about stone fruit, but it was different and came from another place. In fact my new friend here Gugnir laid the killing blow against the crystal dragon, after the rest of these brave souls weakened it.” as he waves towards his friends and then holds up the sword for all to see. “I imagine this sword came from the same distant...uhhhh...world.” He glances to Maribel to help with his explanation.
Peren says “we met a man that was half Walrus named Rhudall and he helped kill the dragon. Sorry to say he did not make it back with us, he died making sure we got out of there as the building was collapsing.”
The crystalline sword glowing with a shimmering light draws a lot of attention. Also the mention of walrus-men causes all manner of murmurs among those assembled.

((So, back to town then?))

((Speaking of town, is that avalanche putting them in danger?))
But yes, I would like to get off this mountain. I think I’ve had enough of the snow for now.
((Nah, the town is a couple of days away from this valley.))
Peren says “Let us leave this cold desolate place and head back to town”

Thont gives thanks for our uneventful journey back...

At least she'd gotten some good fights out of it.

INN. And throw a copper to a boy to fetch Merric. :)
"Whichever one has the stronger drink."
"I wouldn't say no to a warm meal and something alcoholic." Kathra says with a wry grin. "We can talk to Merric later."

There are several oo's and ah's among the crowd as Kathra shows off her silvery constellation tattoos.
