Jan gets overzealous with her daggers and her first blow does little more than gouge out a piece of the railing. The second blow strikes true and the rope falls away into the water.
Ethel rises up out of the water and reaches for the same rope only to find it’s already falling into the water. Under the boat provides more reliable cover, and the fish appear as happy as fish can to see her back under there again.
Avaria, straining with all her might feels something give and the rest of those on deck can feel the Rose Marie actually start to push away from the dock.
Bigge and Hammerdasher get a second pole and push on the dock too but their contribution is negligible compared to Avaria.
Marrin’s magical mind games prove fruitful again. The matriarch of the Hargroves proves no better at withstanding than her husband did. She shrieks in pain and moves quickly to get away from Marrin. With the fire cutting off one direction, she does run after William.
Ula concentrates on her medallion and suddenly a beam of radiant flames rains down from above, but Captain Percival dances to the side at the last second, avoiding any damage. As he does he nearly runs into a spectral hammer, hanging in the air. But he sees that at the last second and it also misses the captain.
A flurry of arrows fires at the boat again as the hobgoblins try to finish what they’ve started before they go after the Hargroves.
Ula, taking advantage of her shield and the partial cover of the railing, turns aside the first arrow that comes her way, but the second catches her under the shield. It digs deep into her side. While she’s still standing, it looks like a strong breeze could knock her over.
The next arrow falls down upon Marrin (24 to hit, 6 damage).
The fourth arrow whistles towards Jan (19 to hit, 5 damage).
The fifth hobgoblin aimed for Bigge, exposed as he was with the pole, but the arrow snaps in the bow.
The final arrow races to Avaria (18 to hit, 5 damage).
A handful of sailors and pirates arrive, but now they’re not sure which ship they’re supposed to help apprehend and they just watch the chaos for a moment.
Captain Percival manages to get ahold of his rope more firmly and the first mate comes over to help. This is the final rope that is still attached to the ship. They heave as hard as they can, and manage to keep the ship within 10’ of the dock.
Ethel swims just under the surface. For a moment, under the water, with the sounds and chaos above her muted and nothing but vacant-eyed fish around her in the dimly lit subsurface world... she is taken aback by the absurdity of it all. Not long ago, she would have been riding in the back of a wagon, trying to balance financial books while her husband made sure to hit every rock on the trail and their children played games and did everything they could to damage as much merchandise as possible. Now... she had turned herself into some sort of half-fish monstrosity and was playing a game of cat-and-mouse with hobgoblin guards and pirates while her new allies and a handful of slaves made a desperate attempt to escape. For a moment, she couldn't reconcile the two lives. Surely this must be a nightmare... or else the other just a pleasant dream....
She grits her teeth and shakes it off. Focus, damn it.
She pops up again on the surface. Seeing yet another rope holding the ship back, she summons the skeletal hand again to do her bidding.

Grunting at the hit, but seeing everyone else on the deck is in way worse shape than she, Avaria pushes again with the pole, willing that boat to get away from the dock.
((Correct on the disadvantage, I'd been thinking they were still just partially covered by the railing - Marrin's attack remains at 24 to hit, but Jan's drops to a 6))
Marrin pops up, hacks at the rope and drops back down. Her eagerness not to be exposed to the rain of hobgoblin arrows meant her concentration was off and she managed to do little more than make a divot in the railing.
Jan however succeeds in severing the final rope before she drops back to the deck.
Ethel, seeing the rope falling into the water moves the hand to go after Percival himself but the big captain stumbles backwards when the rope is cut, moving him out of the way of the spectral hand.
Avaria pushes again against the dock. She doesn't get as much purchase this time, but the combination of the rope being cut and her muscle power, she's able to keep it going in at least the right direction.
With the continued help of Hammerdasher, and now with the last rope cut free, Bigge is able to get perfect leverage and push off from the dock. The Rose Marie is now clearly drifting clear of the pier.
Ula is loathe to use her healing powers on herself, but she realizes if she doesn’t do it now she won’t be around to help anyone later. Hunkered down against the railing, she whispers to herself and a radiant glow covers her skin and some vitality comes back to her face as one of the arrow wounds closes back up.
She then peaks over the edge and guides her floating spiritual hammer to strike at Captain Percival again. But whether because she’s still weak, or because the Captain is just too angry to let himself get hit, the hammer misses again.
Xanthe, hearing the sounds of fighting and the call for help from Marrin, comes out of the forward cabin. She draws a short breath when she sees the dead and wounded scattered about the deck. Noting that Ula has managed to heal herself, she takes several steps towards Hammerdasher and casts her own spell on him, helping the dwarf nearly recover all of his energy.
Seeing the success of their attacks so far, the six hobgoblins unleash another wave of arrows. They sail up and over the railing. Two are aimed in Jan’s general direction, but the first comes no where close and hits the side of the ship. The second comes closer but Jan rolls to the side across the deck and escapes any harm this time.
The third hobgoblin tries to catch the owner of the spiritual hammer but Ula’s quick duck down causes the arrow to fly over her head and out into the harbor. The fourth see Avaria standing there with the pole and can’t resist the target. But again his arrow snaps in two on the bow string causing no harm.
The fifth hobgoblin spots the newcomer to the deck and lets an arrow fly straight at Xanthe. The healer gasps in pain and bends over clutching the arrow that has lodged in her side.
The final hobgoblin lets an arrow race towards Bigge, but it passes by the former quarter master.
Captain Percival sees the ship is starting to drift away. He backs up, takes a quick running start and races to the edge of the dock and leaps for the ship. He slams into the side of the ship and slips down the hull. However, he’s able to get his hands into some of the rigging and clings to the Rose Marie.
The first mate, takes a quick running jump as well and leaps clear over the water and catches the edge of the deck right in the gap of the railing where the gangway had been pulled back from. He scrambles to his feet, drawing a sharp looking scimitar.
Just then, the cook, Jeras, shows up on the dock with two more sailors.
“Hang on, Captain,” Jeras shouts encouragement. But other than that he and the two other sailors look at a loss for what to do.
The captain roars at Jeras and the other two new sailors. "This isn't a circus performance. Get more rope and try to catch the anchor."
Gillian and William Hargrove can be seen at the distant end of the dock; William yelling for a boat. Two hobgoblins stand near by trying to get a rowboat lowered from the ship docked at the end of the wharf. Gillian looks pained and continues off the wharf and towards the warehouse entrance.
Smoke drifts down the dock, but besides a few smoldering hotspots the fire is mostly out.
She'll position herself with Lozredak between her and the archers on the pier, trying to keep the the female hobgoblin as close to the gap in the railing as possible.

Ethel bobs to the surface again.
With the ropes no longer a problem, she turns her ill-intentions toward the hobgoblin archers, looking to thin their numbers or at least discourage them from what is now a pointless endeavor.
Attack: 23 Damage: 1
Then she looks at the Captain, hanging onto the line from the side of the ship. "There's symbolism here, Captain. Your tale will end with you swinging from the end of a rope."
Then she swims back down 15' to the underside of the ship.

Hearing Gillian's offer to the other pirates Marrin shakes her head,
"Your family is falling apart Gillian while you play around here!"
Unsettling words (minus from save): 6
She starts whispering and words twist and warp into something disturbing and unrecognizable before reaching Gillian's ears.
Dissonant whispers (DC 14 wisdom save): 11
As Gillian (hopefully) runs away towards the people coming over to the Rose Marie, Marrin will shout in Gillian's voice,
"No! Not this ship, the one my husband is yelling at you idiots!"
Marrin will stay prone and huddled against the railing.
