Ula hears Jan, disengages and pulls back to join the others.
Using that as a cue, Jan lets two more blasts of energy fly and connects with both. One looks to collapse from the impact, but a moment later it rises back up. Both are hanging together by a thread.
Once Ula escapes she moves her spiritual hammer over to the tree blight and smashes it down on the sickly bark, connecting once.
Avaria runs over to where her handaxes lay, pulling one out of the skull of the zombie and scrunching up her face at what remains on her weapon. Doing her best to ignore it, she hurls them at the zombies engaged with Ula.

Avaria watches her two axes strike true. One zombie collapses and lies still, dead forever now, a noxious cloud of green vapour rising up. The other takes just as much damage and looks like it's about to give up what little life it has left but it turns out to not be quite so easy to kill. It stands, now looking at Avaria, an axe sticking into the side of its skull, green wisps of poisonous gas leaking out.
Marrin's choice of tree themed insults seems to do the trick. If a rotting tree can look more depressed than it already does, this one manages it. She can't see any traces of fear, but the rotting tree blight is definitely moving away from Marrin.
The tree blight fleeing, leaves Ethel's spectral claw swiping at empty air.
Soren whistles a short note this time and you can all here a high pitched crashing sound. While unpleasant, it doesn't cause any pain to you. But you can all see that it causes the tree blight to vibrate with pain.
QuietWalnut lifts up another piece of tower debris and hurls it at the fleeing blight. It slams into the side of the diseased tree, knocking bark and black ichor flying.
The lone zombie is able to make it to Ula, where it slams it's two clumsy arms at her. But given it's barely hanging together, it can't muster the coordination to get ahold of Ula. Both blows miss completely.
She must be exhausted after all this spellcasting. Despite the massive, lumbering target, Ethel is unable to connect once again with her cantrip as the undead tree flees the battlefield.

Jan catches the last zombie and puts it down for good, gas spewing upwards just as Ula gets out of the way.
The spiritual hammer chases after the fleeing tree, but the movement of both makes it hard to connect and the ghost like mallet finds itself bouncing off the diseased bark.
Is that more movement in the trees the group hears? Something similar to the crashing noise QuietWalnut made on her way back to the group.
As the tree blight moves away, Marrin sees, with some satisfaction, that even a pun with the right amount of venom woven through it can cause some damage. The tree blight shudders, and some diseased bark falls off to the ground. The creature looks like one good push would put it down for good.
Happy that the zombies and their noxious gases have been taken out of the situation, Ava runs over and grabs her two handaxes back. Ignoring the condition they are currently in, she hurls them at the remaining tree blight.
Avaria's first axe hits home and the tree blight shudders and collapses. Its fall causes the second axe to miss and to fly into the trees.
Straight from where the second axe went, another diseased tree, covered in black ichor emerges from the woods. This must be one of the ones that went after QuietWalnut, Hammerdasher and Geffroi.
It comes straight at Avaria, but it seems that's just because that's the direction it was already heading. It doesn't appear to focus on the shifter. Before it can take in its surroundings and potentially attack, a huge boulder comes flying over the tops of the trees and smashes into this tree blight, pinning it to the ground. More of the black, necrotic sap gushes out onto the ground. The blight struggles briefly then goes still.
From the direction of the boulder, the trees part to the side, allowing another familiar face to emerge.
"You have been successful," Ironroot says, gesturing a massive limb at the rubble of the tower. "Well done."
He looks at the rubble a moment longer then around the clearing.
"Doubtful, I'm afraid," Ethel replies to Ironroot.
"He - or it - was able to trick us, disguising itself as a prisoner. We barely survived his attack. On the bright side," she says, gesturing at the ruined tower, "we were able to bring his house crashing down. Before the end, I saw him put on what I believe to be a helmet to aid in teleportation. I am quite sure he fled via magic before the tower came down."
She frowns. "He could be half a world away, or still somewhere close by. In either case, his base is destroyed and his undead broken. I trust this is enough to limit the harm he is able to do to your forest. For now."
***
"Oh," Ethel adds. "It had an unusual looking, spined direwolf trapped inside a magic mirror. The wolf was released during the battle and fled into the forest. If that creature is friend or foe, you should be aware that it has escaped."

Avaria retrieves her handaxes, takes the time necessary if the one that flew part Ironroot was hard to find. Grabbing a handful of leaves she uses them to wipe off all the yuck that the zombies left behind on her weapons. Once satisfied, she then uses a cloth before securing them away.
Once finished, she walks back to the rest, but is unsure what to add. She doesn't feel good about failing their goal of ridding this forest of the Rot Man, but how do they find him?
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Not wanting to put off making amends and have it become more awkward, Jan approaches Soren.
"I'm sorry Soren. The accusation of you being a dragon cultist had me a bit spooked, and I sought to show you both I meant it when trying to get you both to stand down."
She watches his face when she mentions 'dragon cultist'.
