Avaria lets out a satisfied grunt as the soldier in front of her falls, then moves on to the remaining one in front of her. She finds herself vaguely aware of the smoke that is burning her throat and of the commotion going on behind her, but this soldier first. (attacking recklessly again)
Vonth, his strength emboldened by the helpful healing hand from Ula, once more wades into the fray against the soldiers. He notes the one yelling about his armor feeling like it’s on fire - a gift from Soren - and decides that one is the most vulnerable of the soldiers.
His blade connects again, and again but while the soldier is badly injured, he still stands ready to fight. ((Divine Favor damage included)).
Solomona bounces into action next to the goliath, taking aim at the next soldier in line. Some how, this laid back beach bum, twists and heaves his enormous bulk into a series of graceful, flowing movements, almost too quick to see.
Two fists and a foot land hard against the second soldier in line. The only thing preventing the other foot from landing was the soldier stumbling under the weight of the three hits.
By the doorway, Jan announces her presence in a shower of gear and weapons. She suspected she might not be in a convenient position to exit her ring and does manage to orient herself to land on her feet without damage. But appearing on the ceiling did catch her by surprise and all of the gear she had collected for her friends crashes down on to the floor around her.
Avaria continues her work on the western set of soldiers, now down to a single member. She connects quickly with her sword, but the growing smoke throws off her aim, and the soldier is able to whip his shield around to just deflect the second blow to the side.
—-------------------------------------
Marrin/Jarrin is still up ((will give until later tomorrow before botting Marrin for this round))
Marrin/Jarrin’s insults cause the ‘hot’ soldier visible pain, though not as much as the pain from his still hot armor. Soren gives a nod in that direction and the soldier shouts in pain. Vonth smells burning flesh.
The ‘hot’ soldier looks for a way to retreat to, but now there are visible flames burning at the entrance to the kitchen from the mess hall. With that way barred him, he turns back and slashes out at Vonth twice, hoping against hope that he can carve a path of escape through the goliath.
However, he’s in near panic mode, and his first blow comes closer to hitting himself than it does Vonth. The second one does little better and Vonth is able to push the blade aside with his own.
The soldier in front of Avaria can see the crazed look in Avaria’s eyes and he looks for a means to retreat as well but with the fire cutting him off, he presses forward as well. He also seems to be on the edge of panic with his first blow coming nowhere near Avaria. But he does better with the second and connects with the shifter (24 to hit for 12 slashing - 6 after being halved from her rage).
After taking a foot and two fists to the face, Solomona’s opponent strikes back as best he can with two quick strikes of his sword (17 to hit for 8, 19 to hit for 6, both slashing).
The final soldier of the four still standing tries to take the chaos in and choose the most dangerous of opponents. However, everyone they’re in combat with has delivered serious damage and instead he focuses on how they can break out of this room. Solomona is closest to the eastern wall and the ovens. If they can clear a path there, they can try to break for the northern exit.
He lunges forward with two quick strikes of his own. The smoke and heat of his one companion causes his first strike to miss wildly. But the second finds the monk square in the arm (23 to hit for 9 slashing damage).
With the fire and smoke pushing into the kitchen, Ula and Geffroi start grabbing equipment and gear and go through the northern doorway.
Hammerdasher shouts loudly as he finds himself without a weapon of any kind, so he disengages and heads for the doorway as well, following closely behind Ula, and Geffroi.
Soren stabs out with his longsword at the still overheated soldier. He just barely clips the man, but as he was already near death, that’s all it takes to drop him to the floor.
—---------------------------------------------
Three soldiers remain - one squared off against Avaria on the western side of the kitchen. Two facing Vonth, Solomona, and Soren (whom Vonth and Solomona know as one of the new guards - a half-elf).
The rest of the center of the kitchen is covered in blood and dead bodies.
Fire now obscures the entrance to the mess hall. Ula, Hammerdasher and Geffroi have managed to get all of the equipment Jan rescued out of the kitchen and into the hallway.
M-anellae has a momentary pause about casting in front of outsiders, but realizes there's no time for such concerns. She sends a bolt each at the two most injured of the Hargrove soldiers.

Solomona's face darkens as he takes wounds from the guards. With a much less jovial voice, he lashes out again at the guard(s) in front of him, his punches punctuated with the words: I - DON'T - LIKE - SWORDS!
Jan, and whatever face she’s currently wearing, tries to make sense of the chaos and who is friend and who is foe. The direction people are facing is about all she has to go on when it comes to the goliath and the rotund human. The hanging pots and pans, the movement of those fighting and the growing smoke in the room all make sighting on the soldiers on the other side of the kitchen a challenge, and both of her bolts of energy go well wide of their targets.
Solomona swings his girth round on the soldier who hit him and raps him twice, hard, in the face. The black clad soldier reels back on his heels momentarily, blood gushing from his nose. While he’s been hurt, there’s a lot of fight left in him.
Marrin decides the soldier facing Avaria is in the worst shape, probably because of the multiple sword wounds and blood seeping out from the joints of his armor. The words cause him to wince visibly, and his skin grows a little paler.
—------------------------------------------
Avaria and Vonth are up.
Three soldiers still stand - one in front of Avaria, and two up against Vonth, Solomona and Soren.
Vonth kept his attention on the soldiers in front of him—immediate threats, blades meant for his blood. But a sudden clatter by the doorway cut through the rhythm of battle. Weapons. Packs. Loose gear crashing to the floor as if dumped from nowhere.
He noted it. Filed it away.
Then a sword nearly found his ribs, and that was warning enough. Distraction killed.
Shouts rang through the kitchen. He ignored them all. Words in a fight were usually worthless.
One voice was not.
“New people, out, if you want.”
Vonth did not know the speaker. He did not care. The words were clear. And they named exactly what he wanted—not an end to the fight, but an end to the prison.
Two soldiers still blocked him. They could not simply be walked away from.
Vonth feinted with his longsword, then shifted his weight and drove a hard kick into the nearest soldier’s leg and hip. He intended to shove one soldier into the other. To create enough room to escape unmolested.
He turned, seized Solomona by the arm, and growled the only word that mattered.
“Out.”
Vonth didn’t drag him. Didn't pull. He would not force Solomona out, only encourage by word and deed that both should run away from the clash and toward whatever chance of escape waited beyond the burning chaos of the kitchen.

Action: Attack/Shove - Athletics check (dirty) 20. Soldier contests with an Athletics or Dex check of their own. If I succeed the target is pushed back 5' away from Vonth.
Bonus Action: none to speak of...
Movement: Away from soldiers and towards the northern(?) door the others are retreating out of. While, of course, looking over his shoulder to see what the soldiers and Solomona are doing... Hopefully Vonth is only subject to one Opportunity Attack by being successful in shoving the other soldier back out of melee range.
Reaction: Brace - If someone Vonth can see moves into combat range with him (if a soldier gives chase, for example) then Vonth can spend a Superiority Die to make an attack on that creature... 11to hit for 16 total damage (weapon dam+superiority die+Divine Favor) if this comes into play. Probably does not hit if it does though.
Unfortunately for Vonth, the soldier he shoves is solid on his feet and ready for the push. He's clearly fought in close combat before and while Vonth is able to rock him a little because of his strength the black armoured soldiers holds his ground (Athletics 22).
Avaria only has eyes for the soldier in front of her and continues to attack recklessly.
Attack 1: 27, Damage 15+ 2 Attack 2: miss, though I'm hoping the first attack did him in? If not, she's still standing there.
If he did go down...
With the immediate threat no longer in front of her, the smoke and fire finally starts to register and her friends words slowly pierce her rage. She turns and seeing that her friends are getting out, she follows, her back towards the northern door as she backs towards it, staring down the remaining two soldiers, beckoning them to attack her with a smirk and curling her fingers with a c'mon gesture.
The soldier Vonth attempted to push back, slashes out at the goliath as he retreats, catching a shoulder as he does (16 to hit for 5 slashing). The black armoured companion next to him also lunges forward, but the smoke in his eyes and blood on the floor make it hard to stay focused and that blow goes wide.
Vonth continues on to the doorway to the kitchen, looking over his shoulder as he does, he sees the shifter (Avaria) still in combat and Solomona still facing two determined looking soldiers.
Avaria deals what, even through her amplified anger, she thought should have been a final killing blow. And while the soldier looks like a strong breeze could finish him off, he is still on his feet.
But while he’s still standing, the fight isn’t there. The heavily wounded soldier disengages from Avaria and moves across the kitchen to support the other two soldiers facing Solomona. While he doesn’t move in to engage the monk, he does cover the flank of the other two.
The two, sensing the desperation of the situation and seeing the big goliath retreat are intent on getting out of here two. But there are still two opponents in front of them - Solomona and Soren. They each pick one and do their best to carve an escape route through them.
A longsword slashes out at Solomona twice, but only finds flesh once (22 to hit for 9 slashing). The monk is able to push the second strike to the side with the back of his forearm.
The other soldier is far too panicked by the impending fire and how much smoke already fills the kitchen. Both his blows directed at Soren, the half-elf guard, go wide.
Soren claps the rotund monk on the shoulder and suggests “That fire’s coming this way. We should be going the other.”
He disengages from the soldiers and moves towards the doorway as well.

The party is up.
Three soldiers are clumped together on the eastern side of the kitchen with only Solomona in front of them. The front two still have a lot of strength and fight in them but the one behind doesn’t look like much of a threat anymore.
Avaria stands by herself on the western side of the kitchen.
Vonth is at the doorway now (as is Soren). Jan and Marrin/Jarrin flank the doorway.
The rest (Ula, Geffroi, and Hammerdasher) are out in the hallway somewhere.
Flames now burn the wooden doorframe of the doorway between the kitchen and the mess hall. The kitchen is full of smoke. The prison itself is made of stone, but there are a lot of wooden framing and supports that provide plenty of fuel for the fire.
Jan (wearing Marrin's face while Marrin is wearing Jan's face) tries to get her bearings a bit better, calling out mentally to K to precede the others invisibly and let her know if there is any trouble coming from other directions.
((Is Avaria cut off from the others by the soldiers?))
Jan will send a bolt at the one that Ava nearly finished off, and another that just slashed the rotund prisoner.

This time Jan manages to focus better and both energy bolts find their targets. Avaria's opponent crumples to the ground, a dark 'burn' across his face and down his torso. One more dead to add to the pile around Avaria.
Avaria has a clear path to the exit and no opponents within melee range anymore.
Jan's other bolt catches the other soldier, causing him to wince in pain.
Vonth gets half way to the doorway but he looks around and sees that Solomona has not retreated yet. His stony expression doesn't change but the big goliath moves back to support the monk, waiting to see if he strategically withdraws or not.
The dusty fairy drops off the ceiling, flys a quick circle around Jan's head, then pops invisible again and heads out into the hallway.
