Once everything has been secured to the best of their ability, Avaria yawns and stretches. Worry has seeped into her muscles and she feels how tight they are as she tries to stretch them out. She heads over to the windows and looks out, knowing her friends are probably no where near here tonight. She sure hopes they come back in the morning though. If not, looks like a hunting party is in their future.
She sighs, this was not the way things were supposed to go, and now the Hargroves are that much closer. She tries to settle in, sitting down with her back against the wall. "I'll take first watch."
Jan straightens her clothes as she stands up. Having not heard anything from K recently, she's alert and ready for trouble. She grants herself flight before stepping out of the ring (except her finger, which resumes it's place wearing the ring).

Dex/Agility Check (DC 10) to make a seamless transfer of control of the ring from K' to Jan. Being able to fly at the moment does not put Jan in any immediate danger, but since the ring was left behind to be carried by K' it does not automatically stay on Jan's finger. If Jan had not taken it off, it would not have been able to be transported by K'. Jan can fly but there's a chance the ring will be dropped in the midair transfer.
IN THE LODGE:
Geffroi eyes Solomona with suspicion when he requests something sharp. However when Solomona explains what he's up to, the fledgling wizard shrugs and offers a small knife to the monk.
((Perception rolls for Avaria and Vonth (as well as Solomona if they're taking a turn on watch))).
IN THE FOREST:
While Marrin is sluggish to react at the sight of the two half bird / half human woman creatures (one in the branches above Marrin's head, and the other in the next tree over - the two are both about 20' from Marrin and about 15' from each other) the sudden bright light seems to have surprised the pair making them even slower to react to the situation than Marrin is.
Jan pops out of her sanctum, nimbly slips her finger into the ring that K' had been carrying and takes in her surroundings. She finds herself several hundred feet up in the air, and even though it is now full night, the moon and stars show her that she's almost right to the mountains. Looking around, she at best knows she came from somewhere that wasn't the mountains.
Making estimates based on how fast she's seen K' fly before - they're likely anywhere from 50 to 100 miles away from where they started. K' may have flown straight or taking a roundabout flight of the bumblebee route.
In the past, K' has shown an uncanny ability to find his way to and from people. But those times have always been going away from and coming back to Jan. If Jan wants to find her friends again, hopefully the little dust fairy will be able to find the way.
Jan sees no immediate danger, other than being out in the open and in the dark.
IN THE LODGE:
When Solomona rejoins the group with his collection of semi-precious stones, Hammerdasher raises an eyebrow and laughs.
"That's quite the haul, son," Hammerdasher says. "Hopefully our host doesn't come in to give the room the once over in the morning. She'll notice those gone for sure."
If pressed, Hammerdasher, having an eye for gems as well as stonework, would guess the lot is probably worth 800gp.
During the night, Avaria doesn't hear anything out of the ordinary while she's on watch. A breeze makes the windows rattle occasionally but otherwise she makes it through her watch without incident.
Likewise, Ula, who takes watch after Avaria, wakes Vonth up and reports hearing nothing of concern.
During Vonth's stint on watch he does hear movement on the roof above. It sounds like loud scratching, almost like large claws against slate roof tiles. The noise circles directly over his head for a few minutes before heading along the roof towards the south. Then quiet.
In the last hours of the night, Solomona hears a lot of footsteps in the hallway outside the door. Soft steps, scampering about. Then heavy footsteps, the sound of heaving boots and the faint clinking of armour being heard with each step. Quiet for a few moments, then more footsteps of both kinds. At one point some of the scampering steps come right up to the door to the room the party is in then stop. He can hear breathing on the other side of the door. But then footsteps take the breathing away.
But no one tries to enter the room.
Morning has come (unless there was any night time activity anyone wanted to get up to).
Marrin smiles as she sees her new audience is spellbound by her and gives them a diva wave.
To the one in her tree she says, sotto voce,
"You're good, but she is a bit better."
Unsettling words: -4 on her save
Then louder to both,
"Ladies! Am I glad to see you!"
((Charm up cast, targeting both, wisdom save of 16. If she doesn't see a demeanor change, she'll silvery barbs the, hopefully, single successful harpy to force a re-roll.
I also appeal to the DM's grace and benevolence and meekly argue that combat hasn't technically started since no one has attacked anyone yet. Otherwise they get advantage on their rolls.))
((Is there a check Jan could make to recognize any of the stars to get at least somewhat oriented to where on the continent she might be, and what direction is north, etc.?))

Morning has come (unless there was any night time activity anyone wanted to get up to).
Vonth is good with a long rest being had with no other plans for the evening. He performs some evening and morning rituals which he developed in prison which don't seem like much to the others except prayers of one kind or another but in truth allow him to change up his prepared spells a bit. In the morning he goes about untying and freeing the ropes he had set up... He will also try to ritually cast Detect Magic as about the last thing the group does before they exit the rooms, wanting it up as long as possible as they move through the house. He definitely makes sure he gets a good look at the meeting room and this attached room before they leave though.
Being an urban bounty hunter hasn't left Jan with a great appreciation for navigating in the wilds, but maybe she's come across something that caught her interest in her travels. A DC 20 Survival check might give her an idea where she is, or at least a relative idea.
IN THE FOREST
The two bird-women were intent on coming at Marrin, but her light startled and slowed them slightly. Combat has definitely started, just the first blow has not been landed yet.
However, the pair seem unprepared for someone to try their very own tactics on them. Marrin notices the immediate relaxation in their muscles and the return of a neutral, almost pleasant demeanor to the two bird-women. She's pretty sure there's no longer an imminent threat that they'll attack.
IN THE LODGE:
Vonth runs through his ritual just before the party is ready to start their day. Looking through both of the rooms they have claimed for themselves reveals no magic, hidden or otherwise.
He does, however, notice an aura of magic coming from his own gear; from items he had completely forgotten he had. Each of the pipe, the metal bottle, and ring he found in the prison give off faint signatures of magic.
Vonth grunts softly to himself as his suspicions are confirmed... the items taken from Culver carry magic. He makes a mental note to study them when time allows. A small scowl follows. He could have done so the night before, but suspicion had outweighed curiosity then, and the thought never took hold.
Now it will.
He tucks the items more securely into his gear and glances to the others, gauging their readiness... and their belongings. (Anyone else carrying something that has a magical aura?)
“Right then,” Vonth says at last, reluctant but resolute. “Shall we find our host?”
Vonth and Avaria look busy, so Solomona asks Geffroi or Ula if they have a knife he can borrow...
