Avaria, maybe gripping the axe too tightly, or letting her rage cloud her mind, swings wildly with the axe. Rous 4, dodges to the side just in time. But before it's completely free of the blade, something intervenes. A wave hits the ship and it rocks just a little harder in the opposite direction and the giant rat stumbles backwards straight into Avaria's blade.
Rous 4 falls to the ground, beheaded, courtesy of a divine blessing.

One of the giant rodents turns its head slightly at Marin’s insult. The words are incomprehensible but there’s something about the tone and rhythm that catch the rat’s attention.

The rodent squeals, giving a sharp squeak of pain as the harmonic insult lodges in its brain. But the effect is momentary and it turns towards Ula, looking for the rodent equivalent of revenge.
Rous 1 and Rous 2 but dart in and bite at Ula, looking for gaps in the armor for tasty, exposed, dwarven skin. When one goes low, the other goes high, making it difficult for Ula to defend against both.
Rous 1 Bite: Attack: 17 Damage: 4
Rous 2 Bite: Attack: 16 Damage: 4
The other remaining rodent, Rous 5, notices its two companions don’t seem to have their hearts in the fight. Maybe they just need to be lead by example. Rous 5 darts forward to bite at the hairy dog-wolf-person in front of it.
Avaria is taken a back at how the remaining rats hit both Ula and herself with ease. She moves to flank Rous 5 with Ula, regrips her greataxe and swings, hoping to take another out of combat.
Ula plants her shield down to block the runty rat, but the larger one gives her a decent nip.”Agh!… How did they get this big anyway?!… Ouch! Hey cut it out!…”.

Just when Rous 1 thought it had found a piece of juicy dwarf to gnaw on, the pain in its head distracted it enough for Ula to get her shield in the way, but still exposing herself to the other rat.
Despite Rous 5 keeping a watchful eye on Avaria, it’s still not quick enough to avoid the fast, powerful sweep of the axe. Rous 5 suddenly finds itself cut in half, lifeless.
Just as the giant rat rights itself after banging into Ula’s shield, it again feels the vibrations of Marrin’s voice in its head.
The second round of insults proves too much for the rat. It will never get to know the taste of dwarf. Rous 1 collapses to the ground, blood oozing from its ears.
One angry giant rat remains getting ready to bite at Ula again.
Just as the final giant rat opens it’s jaws to bite at Ula again, a dagger flicks out, catching it straight down the throat. It’s last thoughts are of anger at having followed the lead rat on to this ship before it hangs lifeless against the wall.
Before Ula can even get one swing in with her hammer, all the giant rats lay dead around her.
Ethlehyn watches the battle unfold around her, axes and hammers swinging. It’s all she can do to stay on her feet while the vile ship rocks back and forth under her feet.
And just like that it’s over… the danger is past and the five of them stand amidst the ruined gore of bisected and bloated giant rat - HURK!

Ula shakes the dead biting one free, blocks that other one with her shield, then spins and clubs one rat corpse on the head and kicks another half-a-rat corpse across the hold. “Get them off me… Agh! Get off me you filthy rats!…”, she calls at the scattering and ‘fleeing’ corpses.
"Well done everyone! Ula, you're fine. Here let me."
She moves the rat and cleans up Ethel's vomit.
"Let's make sure this place is cleared and best we clean up those impressively large droppings. I can take care of that last bit, Jan can you give me a hand with that?"
She wiggles her fingers magically to show what she means.
"Ethel... Well just keep sitting there. Oh, Ula and Ava how's your bites? Need me to look at them?"
She'll check if asked and then clean up the likely impressive droppings while making sure there are no more rats.
Janellaewill nod, but her first priority is reclaiming and cleaning her pair of daggers before tucking them away out of sight.
"If that was all of them, I reckon we stay down a bit, and come up looking a bit more rundown and get a bit of sympathy for our efforts, and maybe Marrin stretches that 'off until after lunch' a bit further?"

"Actually, Ula if you're feeling up to it could you ask what Erran wants to do with the remains. If he says anything about taking them up to the galley we toss them overboard ourselves."
Ula gives a serious shudder, “Gods!.. Rats!!…. I know I shouldn’t hate any of the worlds little creatures… but rats really are little SHI-I-‘….. <humph!>… Well, they’re definitely not my favourites”.
She turns to Marrin, “Oh thank you kindly!…”, she pulls the collar of her armour down to show the bite at her neck, but says, “I’m fine, I’m fine.. More of a shock is all”. She gives another involuntary shudder. “I’m made of sturdy stuff”.

"You must be the runt of the litter, look at your tiny little tail."

She also takes a few steps away from Ethel's sick and confides to the two other back liners,
"Hopefully they are concerned about the length of their tails, insults are easier against things that sentient."
