Following the tunnel back around to the new cavern. This cavern is one enormous pit that reeks of death and decomposed flesh. The glow of faerzress is everywhere, seeming to flow like fog around dark shapes shambling across the pit floor. A single derro watches from atop a 15-foot-high ledge. A crack in the southeast wall of the pit leads to a narrow tunnel and is flanked by mounds of fungi and offal.
"This doesn't look promising," Katryl says quietly. "Seems we've been attacked most places, and this just looks bad. Do you suppose there's a chance we could sneak through unmolested?"
"But this place reeks of death and decomposed flesh..." notes Khessa "I think I'd like to stay, if I was a lonesome undead hand... Sneak if you like, but to surprise-attack the derro. This is a place we must search..."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"I don't mind disintegrating another one of those raving lunatics..."The noble drow starts, looking up at the derro while speaking quietly. "...but I will not disgrace myself searching that pit, even if the ring is magical." Traydark then steps into the shadows, keeping an eye on the derro, ready to attack.

"Deal!" whispers Khessa, smiling at the drow warlock "You do the disintegrating, I'll do the searching after".
'Also because I still have my faithful butler who can move or turn decomposed remains in my place...' thinks to herself the blonde arcane warrior.
Motioning to ready Katryl and Eldeth for an attack on the lone offal guarding derro, the noble drow places his Hex on the derro and unleashes a purple beam of eldritch crackling force against it.
Eldritch Blast: 18 Another roll if considered hidden: 16 Force: 4 Necrotic: 4

He then takes cover again if possible.
'He is so cute, when he disintegrates derro for me...' thinks Khessa, telepathically speaking to Rumpadump, as she sees Traydark present his favorite greeting to the pit owner 'Isn't he?'
Katryl and Eldeth had prepared their bows to fire upon the derro. But as Traydark's shot hits and the derro falls into the pit, they both hold their shots. (Presuming he dropped out of sight.) "Just a single shot finished him off? Strange, but I'd not think he'd survive the fall," Katryl comments. "Guess it's time for you to check for severed hands now Khessa."
There is a crawling claw among the zombies shuffling around in the pit, the butler brings the wriggly hand up to you though without much issue. On it is an obsidian ring.
"Finally."The noble drow scoffs as the undead hand with the obsidian ring floats up towards the blonde arcane warrior. "Can we out of these tunnels now and set that ambush for our quarry, or was there anyone who wanted to put their sanity to the test on that mesa to see if they can locate the mad derro?" He adds, looking with disgust on the wiggling hand.
Khessa observes the hand in fascination: what magical force was able to animate it, when the rest of its body is already dead? And... how does she decide where to go? He's chosen a place that seems appropriate to her, so maybe she's guided by some sort of logic... But how much is she able to understand? She tries to wave at it and see if the hand responds with movement that have a meaning. She also notes her considerations and eventual result of the experiment in her patented armored spellbook.
Meanwhile, the blonde arcane warrior replies to Traydark: "Thank you, dear," she smiles "but I still have enough sanity left to not be eager to lose some of it... Plus, as I said earlier, I noticed that it took a great deal of strength of will, to focus properly... I think Silas may be the one of us most likely to succeed. However, Droki apparently doesn't fear the sides effects of the failures (perhaps because in fact he has already lost all of his sanity) so I'm convinced that it will be enough for us to lurk in the mesa, hidden with illusions or invisibility near the entrance. He doesn't know that those who buy names from him are no longer able to do so. So he will return, to discover new names. Once he enters, we will block the entrance. There's no other way out. So he'll be ours, no matter how fast his boots allow him to run".
Ebzer smiles grimly. "I look forward to our next 'discussion' with the mad fella. I think we owe him our thanks for the merry chase he's led us, and I aim to show 'im just how grateful I am..."
"Yes, finally got the hand. You'll handle carrying it Khessa?" Katryl immediately readies to leave this chamber. "Now let's get to the mess and finally end all this!"
It's about that time that you see a tiny figure appear in the pit between the offal mounds from a crack in the wall, suddenly unshrinking and heading towards you with an all too familiar tentacled hat.

Ok, so it should fit in the enlarged backpack. If nothing more of interest... there are other ways our? Or must simply go back?
You are in the room on the top right. The only way out is going back the way you came.
(I believe the rooms left are the two in the upper center, Khessa can pick one :-)
Ok, let's try the northermost one first. It should also ne the nearer, from the obelisk's room.

The derro falls over into the pit with a quiet raspy cough.

"Oh, well?" Khessa raises an eyebrow, suspicipus and unconvinced "That was it? So easy? Hmmm..."
"Anyway," she looks around, trying to detect eventual other enemies or dangers "I'll also do my part..."
And she sends her faithful butler to move the remnants, looking for a hand with a ring... expecially if said hand is self-moving.
