"We can help, but what do we get out of this?" Katryl asks. "Perhaps you could try and find out for us if Sarith is actually in the garden? And if you know where the grick is, would it be possible for us to approach it and make a surprise attack against it?"
"Katryl, from what Basidia and Loobamub are telling us, I fear that a new catastrophe is brewing" Khessa announces, in no uncertain terms. "Something similar to what happened in Sloobludop, so to speak! So I would say, yes, let's divide the tasks: we will try to eliminate as soon as possible that grick alpha nearby that scares you so much. Please provide us with the information you can on this creature and where it is. The idea of ambushing it is a great one".
"But in the meantime, Basidia and Loobamub, please," continues the blonde arcane warrior "try and find out for us if Sarith (our 'softer' friend) is actually in the garden and above all think of a way that allows us to enter said garden! We have to check what is going on there, before the 'wondrous and glorious surprise' - for we are almost certain that powerful Demon Lords are involved... And when they are involved, their surprises bring wonder and glory only to Demon Lords themselves - to others they bring death and horror. We've seen it happen recently, in the underdark. The Demon Lords, for some reason, have greatly increased their influence. And they use it in dangerous and catastrophic ways. The kuo-toa city of Sloobludop no longer exists, thanks to a 'wondrous and glorious surprise' by Demogorgon. I, if I were you, would check what's going on, instead of just waiting for the next 'wondrous and glorious surprise'".
"Will you?"the tall adventurer's blue eyes express deep concern "If it's only the Circle of the Masters that is preparing the surprise, the other circles should be quite able to stop them - thus preventing the utter destruction of Neverlight Grove".
The noble drow couldn't quite comprehend the importance of finding Sarith, a drow yes, but not a noble, just a plain drow of no particular significance. He agreed on the blonde arcane warriors conclusions though, this wondrous and glorious surprise would likely mean the utter corruption of Neverlight Grove, and while he didn't much care for the fungoids the demonic incursion must be thwarted wherever it showed itself or there soon might not be an Underdark for him to rule. The hunt for the aberration should be dealt with swiftly so that attention once more could be given to the real threats to the Myconid settlement.
"The creature resides in a crack along the northern wall, but it moves now and then," Loobamub replies. "As for your friend, Phylo has rejected my advances and interest, so if your friend is in the garden they may still be there. We don't know of the softers leaving recently. Perhaps they are all staying for the upcoming...celebration. The Circle of Masters has been taking all of our carcasses lately too, and sending out workers beyond our borders without telling others," Basidia adds. At the comment or suggestion of the other circles trying to stop the Masterss though, Basidia and the other myconids seem confused.
"We should continue seeing our grove. Perhaps you can find the creature along the way." Basidia begins sauntering off toward the northern cliffs. Water trickling from the walls of this vast cavern are channeled into a crude but effective terraced irrigation system. A thick, sweet smell fills the air from the thousands of fungi of all colors and sizes, many glowing with a strange, inviting light.
"You seem confused..." Khessa notes "What's the problem? Is it your hierarchical system that prevents you from trying to stop the Masters? If so... should a clash of masters start, would you be at least willing to follow Basidia? She is part of of the Circle of Masters, even if Phylo is hiding something from her..."
"And the carcasses, anyway..." the blonde arcane warrior also asks "What are they usually used for? Do you reanimate them as zombies? Can you also do it with the Mound we killed earlier, for example?"
'Perhaps the Demon Lady has in mind to prepare an army of zombies...' thinks, worried, the tall adventure.
When the party arrives near the northern cliffs, Khessa, seeing the thousands of mushrooms of all colors and sizes, comments: "How beautiful those!" pointing to the many glowing with a strange, inviting light "What mushrooms are they? Do they have special properties?"
Well, Khessa is still waiting for the eventual replies to her questions of previous post; but after listening to what her myconid friends can tell her, she also will focus on the hunt.
She will keep Anator hidden on herself (near her neck, hidden by her long blonde curls), instructing him to put his enhanced senses (Blindsight) to good use: should someone approach that Khessa does not see, her brother will warn her telepathically.
As you get up toward the northern face you easily find the Grick waiting between two shallow outcroppings of earthy rock. Off behind it a ways you see a bunch of smaller myconids working on some bizarre looking construction projects. Stool is tailing along and mentions that they usually share everything, including thoughts. But Stool also thinks that if they have something special planned then it should be worth the wait.
Softly Katryl says, "There it is. Let's all get ready and hit it all at once. We'll have surprise and should get a few shots in." She grabs her shotrbow, waiting for the others to be ready.
Khessa prepares to unleash that magical fire she is so proud of against the monster... and to block the advance of the predator of the underdark, as soon as it tries to reach them.
"Whenever you want Katryl" the blonde arcane warrior whispers.
(OOC: @DM: Khessa is still waiting for the eventual replies to her questions of post 2152... Did the myconids reply to her? Or do they choose not to this time?)
As soon as the others seem ready, the noble drow peeks out from his cover and uses the black eldritch rod to swiftly curse the aberration before blasting it with a purple beam of eldritch crackling force.
"Let's hope we can finish this thing off,"Katryl says. She remains still, taking careful aim again at the Grick. (Steady Aim) (Shortbow Attack: 23 Damage: 10 + 8)
Eldeth also attacks once again, ready to retreat if necessary. (Longbow Attack: 15 Damage: 4) (Longbow Attack: 6 Damage: 3)

The noble drow simply nods at the genasi, quietly finding some cover to hide from where he can peek out and blast the aberration.

Your fellow myconids are not sure what these mushrooms are for, remarking that they could be used for decoration perhaps, but they really aren't sure.
