Gnome's OOTA Story Thread [CLOSED]

The noble drow groans as the drow girl stupidly runs towards her doom. He was surprised to somehow find himself feeling responsible for her. "Take out those pesky spiders first, then we'll fight the worm." He calls out in a grim tone. Traydark then moves closer to the closest spider, swiftly cursing it before unleashing two purple beams of eldritch crackling force against it.

The zhentarim mercenaries follow suit and fire their crossbows against the giant spiders.

The two spiders suddenly drop from their high perch, landing with a sickening crunch on the ground below, dead.

Lulu and Khessa are able to safely make it down with the worm egg.

Khessa wastes non time in running to Hanne's help, urging party members: "Come on, let's help Hanne, before she gets herself killed!"

The blonde arcane warrior leads the Infantry: "Bad4sses, with me! And remember: drow are allies, this time!"

'Or at least I hope...' she adds mentally.

I assume Khessa and the Infantry, by dashing, can reach her and form a line between her and the worm, right? During the next rounds, Khessa plans to attack from range, together with the infantry, unless there is some important change in the situation - like Hanne's mom getting eaten, for example... or like the worm getting so wounded that charging and attacking it in melee can finish it off. ]]

The noble drow wastes no time as the giant spiders drop dead out of their webs, moving closer to the enormous purple worm, placing his hex on it before unleashing two purple beams of eldritch crackling force against it.

Horkas urges Skitter to follow Hanne, able to keep up but not spending effort to try and catch up...not with a giant worm in the cavern! His full attention was now on the biggest threat - and the purple worm qualified, both figuratively and literally! He unleashed another fire bolt at the monster and continues approaching. (Attack: 12 Fire damage: 11)

The constructs stay near their master, and as soon as they are all in range for melee, the claws, and fists, and magical warhammers come out!

Lulu realizes she has quite the knack for getting stuck in creature goop--be it ooze, slime, webbing, or otherwise--and keeps a firm hold on the egg as Khessa cuts her free. She follows as they leap off the clutch of eggs, feeling arrows and beams of eldritch energy flying past towards the spiders.

"We got it, love," she yells back to Katryl as her feet touch the ground.

From there, she's torn about what action to take next. Both her hands are needed to keep hold of the egg, meaning she can neither cast nor wield a weapon, rendering her little more than an egg sitter. Given the gravity of the fight, healing will likely be needed, so she attempts to take the leftover webbing and create a sort of makeshift BabyBjorn baby wrap to carry the egg in (if possible lol! I think I'm two rounds behind on posts/actions she can take compared to what everyone else has done, so hopefully it can count for this!). 

(Sure, just make a survival check to see how well it turns out.)

"Hoo! Still got it!" she delights to no one in particular. That midwifery apprenticeship in her sixties was worth it, after all!

With her egg-baby strapped in, Lulu sprints to her usual position in the midguard, preparing to attack or lend aid depending on which is most needed. 

As the spiders are taken out and then Lulu confirms she has the egg, Katryl heads along full speed after Hanne. (And I guess we're somehow already in range? I'll just go along with everyone else...)  She uses her Insightful Fighting ability to try to study the creature. (Insight: 24 vs. worm's deception)

Khessa urges the Gauntlet Infantry to pepper the big target with bolts: "Come on! This one is no different than that big cylinder of flesh we put to flight before! Let's give it the same treatment! When we're done with it, that creature must consider to move on to a vegetarian diet!"

And as the snaps of the heavy crossbow strings begin to resonate, the blonde arcane warrior concentrates and hurls a mote of magical fire against the Purple Worm.

The drow engage with the worm, and with your support, the already injured worm is felled quickly, the massive creature slumping lifeless on the cavern floor. Hanne rushes over to her mother where there is a happy, but subdued and respectful reunion. The rest of the drow return to a relaxed but guarded position. Hanne's mother, Zhora, comes to thank you afterward, for bringing her daughter back to her as a couple drow ascend to begin freeing a couple of eggs of their own.

"You can thank us by giving us some information." The noble drow says with a firm but polite tone. "We need to know how we will reach the part of Wormwrithings called the Vast Oblivium. Also as a personal favour, you could perhaps tell me how Menzoberranzan is faring these times, particularly the house of Duskryn." Traydark says calmly, not about to divulge who he is at this point.

Zhora gives Traydark precise directions down to the foot (or close anyway) from where they are standing. It will take about a day and a half from where you are now. But she doesn't know a lot about Menzoberranzan since they have been traveling for several weeks currently, but it was still in shatters when she left.

Grateful and admittedly even surprised the drow huntress would know what they needed, Traydark gives her a polite bow. "Thank you Zhora of house Mizzrym, I wish you safe travels back to your home, and maybe we will meet again." He says, knowing the expedition most likely will have to visit the City of Spiders eventually. Unless there are other business to finish between the two parties, Traydark is ready to proceed towards the Vast Oblivium.
