Breenie had no trouble dealing with the Pegasus that carried her throughout the day. The flying part, that was more unnerving, at least at first. Although she clung tightly to a fistful of the Pegasus's mane for a time, eventually Breenie grew accustomed enough to the thrill in the pit of her stomach and the vision of the ground so far below that she could sit upright, in the same way that she'd have ridden a horse. As clear air streamed through her hair, she breathed deeply.
Then the Pegasi landed. With less grace than before, Breenie dismounted, stumbling a bit as her legs adjusted to standing on firm ground. She watched the Pegasi flying away, until they were small shapes on the horizon. Then, with a sigh, she turned and looked east.
Breenie exchanged a look of sympathetic agreement with Teric. "I suppose it could always be worse." Immediately, Breenie frowned and shook her head. "That's just tempting fate. Forget I said that."
Breenie took a few steps east along the path ahead of the others. Although there seemed little chance of finding any cover, she dropped into a hopefully-stealthy stance and scanned the area, looking for signs of possible trouble in the immediate vicinity.

Speaking quietly, Breenie added, "So what do we know about Xak Tsaroth? Other than that it's that way?"
As soon as his Pegasus lands, Maisor practically throws himself to the ground and scrambles to get away as quickly as possible. With a comfortable distance between him and his ride, Maisor stands and dusts off his jacket, looking around to see if anyone is looking at him.
Goldmoon smiles and says "Thank you". Riverwind was magically carried and right now appears to be petrified. As Breenie moves up the path a bit into the swamp. She sees that scum covers the swamp water as far she can see in the twilight. The sour metallic smell fills her nose and the scent starts to fill the evening air.

"It seems our time of ease is over and we face danger again." Huff Lorival as she dismounts awkwardly from the scary horse with wings. She waves an relieved goodbye to the creature and says, "Thank you dear."
Looking at the swamp ahead she hikes up her robes and reties her belt showing a bit of booted ankle. "I hope we don't have to deal with another boat...or Dragon, yes, definitely no Dragons!"
She checks her gear and tries to blend into the smelly background.
"I am not completely opposed to pushing on and traveling into the night..." Turning his head he gives a wary look to the swamp just ahead and the apparent trail. "But are we confident we can maintain our path in the darkness. That swamp look pretty gloomy."

As the party sets up camp for the night, Breenie volunteers herself for first watch. "Lorival will watch with me," Breenie quickly adds, giving her old friend no time to object.
As Breenie and Lorival settle in for their watch, Breenie lowers her voice and says, "I wanted to ask you about something." When Lorival is, as always, kindly encouraging, Breenie confides in her friend. "While I was traveling over the last couple of years, I met someone who taught me some magic. Not a lot! Just a few little tricks."
To demonstrate, Breenie plucks a small bit of debris from the ground and reaches into a small pouch on her belt. Crumbling a bit of moss between her fingers, she whispers a few words and the bit of debris glows with light. Breenie smiles hesitantly at Lorival, obviously pleased to know this tiny bit of magic. But then Breenie's smile fades again.
"It's just a little magic, though. They won't come and make me go to study at a tower, will they?"
Teclis raises his hand for the second watch...volunteering to take his watch alone...

Setting up his bedroll a bit away from everyone else and laying on his back looking up into the sky, Teclis thinks to himself "why am I still here...what possible difference does my presence have with them? Staring at the stars reflecting on the words of the forest master...
"Being a hero for those that don’t trust you is hard. To survive the coming darkness you will need to set aside old hatreds."
Looking at the blank spots where the "Queen of Darkness" and "The Valiant Warrior" once were Teclis mutters out loud "A bit easier said than done." Looking around quickly ... as he said this a bit louder than he meant to.
With a curious and slightly concerned look, remembering the hi jinks they got up to when they were younger, Lorival nods, smiles, and takes first watch with Breenie.
Later she listens to her friend, and watches the work of minor magic.
"Your execution and control is very good for one not Tower trained, but I would not worry overly much about the tower whisking you away, though they could mind..." She chuckles, "...they really could. The three orders are not much concerned with minor magics like that. It's only when you wish to practise the more powerful spells and have the ability to harness large amounts of arcane energies that they take a real interest."
She frowns, "Though mind you there are wizards out there who are not tower trained as well so the net has holes in it," she laughs.
"I mean if they wanted everyone who can use magic then the Tower would be full of elves and bards! Can you imagine Maisor in a library with dusty tomes and stern teachers in black robes..." She could not help herself and laughed out loud. Quickly covering her mouth to stifle the sound.
It was good to talk with Breenie, and the small moment eased the long days of travel and hardship before.
Maisor offers to take last watch with Killian. When the human nudges him awake hours later, Maisor sits up suddenly, placing a hand to his dagger before realizing it's a friend. Sheepishly, he half smiles and pushes his hair out of his eyes with the hand. "Sorry," he mumbles. He sits up properly and looks around to see Teclis settling in to meditate. He watches the elf for a minute or so and then half crawls over to sit beside Killian. "I can't believe all that's happened in the past week," Maisor admits. "I really wasn't looking forward to being back in Solace. I mean, I wanted to be there for my mother, but I wasn't looking forward to the old life again. I've gotten very used to ... well," he says, speaking with a big grin, "Traveling with orcs is quite the adventure!" he whispers with excitement. Killian looks at him with silent eyebrows lifted, and Maisor continues, more solemnly. "To suddenly be on the run and in danger at every turn. I ... " He looks at Killian appreciatively, then places a hand on the fighter's shoulder, "I'm glad you're here. Your calm steadiness has always been a reminder to me to consider all the angles and to look before I leap. If I have to fight for my life, I'm glad you're by my side."
Hearing Lorival's reassurances, Breene felt silly but also relieved.
Of course they don't care about my little magic tricks.
Despite feeling silly, however, Breenie didn't feel embarrassed. Lorival had always been able to point out foolish behavior in such a way that she never sounded like she was mocking or reprimanding. For the remainder of the watch, in quiet voices while also keeping watch, Breenie traded stories with Lorival, telling her friend a few stories about the Kender woman that Breenie had traveled with for part of the past three years and listening eagerly to whatever stories and/or gossip Lorival cared to share.
//Perception roll in my previous post. Just adding a smidge more flavor to the RP exchange. Also, I will be out of town the next three days. Between phone and laptop, I should still be able to keep up. If you need to NPC Breenie to keep her with the group, however, I'm cool with that.
Teclis nods his head in thanks to Teric. Reaching into his pack he pulls out a deck of cards and motions for Teric … to see if he's interested in passing the time playing. It's an old Silvanesti card game named "Life and Death"
Life and Death
A simple card game that Teclis use to play when out w/his Soldiers guarding the Silvanesti border. Used to pass the time.
A wide grin crosses Teric's face when Teclis produces the deck. Happy for a distraction from thoughts of what they had been through the past few days, but even more pleased to see a less serious side from the quiet elf. He eagerly takes instruction to learn the game, holding no ill will as he loses repeatedly in the process. Late into their watch, with the relative importance of each card established, Teric teaches Teclis "The Beholders Eye". A ridiculous game involving drawing a random card, sticking it to your forehead, and then betting on whether your card is higher than your opponents. After a few rounds he explains it is a much more enjoyable game when one is good and drunk.

Killian is going to check on Riverwind first then see if they can find a way to move him without hurting him further.
He hears Breenie ask the question about Xak Tsaroth and smiles at her ruefully. "I was never a good study."
Turning to Goldmoon he asks " If Xak Tsaroth is where your answers lie we need to take that path."

Killian will bed down as soon as he can. He has learned early in his adventuring life to take rest when it s provided.
"I 'll take the last watch." He says to the group.
Besides he has much to think about and for him it takes longer than most.
