OOC Mordred would probably not follow Kashika even if it was effective XD He'd probably split off a bit if they all followed her (Looking for healing potions we can PM what he could buy or not buy) Than caught back up with the group ^^
(Alright, If anyone followed Mordred let me know. Either way you would have met up at the edge of town then continued into the twilight. Go ahead and PM me what you wanted to buy, either in the group PM or the private chat. This goes for any of you who wanted to buy more.)
Mordred is unable to notice anything abnormal. He hears the wind pick up slightly, but his isn't anything uncommon. He knows all to well that the dreaded sandstorms strike suddenly and without warning.
Zalten, on the other hand, begins to hear a strange, high pitched buzzing noise. With his darkvision, he can make out several tiny black spots in the distance. They are slightly to the right of the path.
Zalten motions frantically to everyone around him and whispers "Quiet. I can hear some buzzing off in the distance and there are some small black objects out to the right of the path." I assume those are the bugs Kashika was talking about. Mordred, Kashika, Tamara, assuming those are what I think they are, do you think we can get past them without them being alerted to our presense?
"Agreed, there is no reason to act stuck up like that. Noble or not were all the same flesh and blood yes?"
Mordred lets out a light chuckle when Nygil tells him about being able to spell. Though he was curious about him telling the difference, where he was from Cleric's had commanded more respect. They hadn't chosen the oath or taken the blade.. Rather the divines had chosen them to be blessed. A cleric was seen closer to the gods they had worshipped.
"You can tell the difference? Is it because a paladin isn't as close to divine? As a cleric would be?"
Mordred had shook his head at Nygil's questions.
"The one's I've seen have only done minor damage, they are easy to get lost in though without proper eye wear. As for currency gold and silver hold the same worth as back home it would appear.. Hmm..? Oh... The purple worm.. Yeah those are extremely dangerous. If we can we should avoid fighting one, if we come across two of them than we've no chance of winning even with all our efforts combined. Though even with one.. We could face losses and I'd rather avoid los-- .. I mean we'd should avoid facing any loss if possible."
Nygil shrugs, "I suppose...mostly."He doesn't elaborate on that statement, but when Mordred asks how he can tell the difference he says, "Yes, from my experience clerics are more...priestly I suppose. Whereas you paladins tend to be more...knightly? Its difficult to explain, but I'm sure you understand... unless I'm making assumptions based on my own experience. I've met plenty of both thanks to my upbringing, but I've really only been exposed to those within my home city."
He listens carefully as Mordred answers his questions about the sandstorm...and seems a little disappointed that the storms aren't as devastating as he had hoped. "Ah, pity...well, not really, but... never mind." He shakes his head, "Have you fought the worm before? Or are you just going off of legends. Either way I would love to meet one in battle, sounds like quite the challenge indeed."
When offered the gear free of charge, Nygil accepts it without question. Either the seller could tell he was nobility...or the dragon had done something to ensure they would get whatever gear they needed...that was a tactic he was familiar with. Either way, it doesn't matter to him.
More priestly? Was Mordred truly more distant from his god? Because he was a paladin? He felt far from the warmth of his god and his light but in his life he never felt farther than any of the clerics. Not in his heart or in his soul before, but maybe they all had a point. Maybe Mordred wasn't as close as he thought he was. It's than Nygil ask Mordred if he fought the worm, the group had begun to travel but Mordred continued speaking with the elf. He had found himself in silence at the question about the worm.
"Well.. Yeah I-"
Before he could respond Zalten had told everyone "Quiet." Though Mordred seemed rather combative before he was rather understanding of requiring sudden silence. Plus as simple as it was Mordred had already held trust to Zalten due to the stories of Assimar before, he had never met an Assimar that was not wise or kind hearted. One could say Mordred had admired the celestial beings even if he wouldn't admit it out loud.
"Like any living creature they can be snuck past but... I'm afraid to admit that in my armor I'm not incredibly stealthy. Still I'll give it my best shot if that is the approach we'll take."
OOC Are stealth checks group based? (Half gotta pass but fail or pass as a group?) Or they individual based?
Mordred has +0 modifier and disadvantage with his current armor XD

Rethan takes his own set of desert gear, but doesn't buy anything else while at the shop. He follows the group as they leave the city towards the Twilight. As they go, he makes his way up to walk with the former champions (the two with the group at least).
"So from the sounds of it, you guys have been here a while and have attempted this before," he says. "I believe I heard you say", he gestures to the tiny kobold, "that most of your party last time was eaten by insects before even making it through the Twilight?" He then turns to the other former champion. "What about you? How did your attempt go wrong?"
"Is there anything else we should know before we start?" he inquires of them both.
Perception check as they reach the Twilight: 13
As they reach the edge of town, he mutters a few words under his breath and a black cat fades into view at his feet. "Meet Midnight. He can help scout ahead if we want."
(A certain number of you has to fail in order to alert them. So yeah, it's as a group.)
You aren't close enough to them to tell exactly what they are or how many of them are out there. Your going to have to get closer. From what Zalten can tell, they are not moving in your direction...yet.
Rethan also doesn't notice anything. In fact he almost stumbles into Mordred when the paladin calls for the party to stop.
(Also, i think you mean Kashika. I could be wrong though, so ignore me if you are actually talking to Tamara. Kashika is the Kobold, Tamara is the Human. )
"Buzzing you say?" Nygil says to Zalten. "I don't hear anything. ...besides, if its just a few bugs I'm sure we can handle it. Right everyone?" He looks to his companions, expecting some sort of affirmation. "But, if stealth is needed, I should be fine. Still, if not all of us are confident on that front, perhaps we should simply attack. Surprise the enemy and take them out before they have time to react." He punches his fist, clearly overeager to hit something.
Mordred closes his eyes trying his best to hear the buzzing but even if he can't hear anything he will take Rethan's word at face value. Nygil looked rather eager to jump head first into battle. Although Mordred would never shy away from a fight he wasn't eager to put everybody into danger. Including Nygil himself even if he seemed eager to hop right on in.
"Don't underestimate them simply because they are insects, in swarms they are dangerous. That being said if we take the threat seriously we might be able to wipe them out quickly with swift aggression. That being said if you'd rather attempt to sneak by that is a valid course of action too."
He reached to his side drawing a long blade, the hilt had an insignia with wings upon it. The shield's holy symbol had shown the same wings but in a yellow hue. Mordred had stepped to the front of the party. In case they would attack or in case they would be caught by these swarming beast. He wouldn't say it out loud but he was ready to take on the brunt of whatever danger lied ahead.
(Also, i think you mean Kashika. I could be wrong though, so ignore me if you are actually talking to Tamara. Kashika is the Kobold, Tamara is the Human. )
(Both :p. Asked kashika about her former team being eaten by insects, then asked Tamara what happened on their attempt)

(Ah that makes sense)
(Gonna wait until everyone has had the chance to roll stealth before i say what happens. Sounds like you might be changing the plan anyways ;D )
Zalten turns to the group and says "If we feel simply attacking is our best bet, I'm certainly willing to do that. I understand sneaking past may not be easy for those of us that are in heavier armor. We should at least try to get some more info on how many of these things there are though before we act. I should be able to say hidden, but if they see me... well, I trust you all will have my back and I should be able to get away from them quickly"
With that, he pulls the head of his tattered cloak over his head and begins moving towards the group. I assume given he could see them with darkvision the distance is 60ft or less, so he'll keep moving until he can get a clearer picture of how many of them there are, but he will not go any further than half of the distance to them.

Jumble sighs as the group prepares to sneak past the unknown entities. "You're up, Ichabod," he whispers, mentally commanding his familiar to circle three or four stories high, then to fly toward the other side of the entities, both as a scout, and if needed, a distraction.
The bard then hunkers down and attempts sneaking past with the rest of his party.

Oh no the nat 1!
