Kasbis moves backward up to 30 feet trying to get out of reach of the tendrils, but maintaining line of sight to the creature. He shoots his hand out arcing another bolt of force at the creature, hoping to hit it.

"That thing might come back... Guess there is a monster down here." Duncan says, looking towards where he heard the steps go just a bit ago, adding, "Let's see if we can find what led us to the trap."He then is ready to lead that direction assuming the others want to follow.
You head north and the passage ends at a dead end. There on the ground is a miner with skin that is unnaturally stained black. "So you have beaten the trap. I guess you have some skills. You should leave this place before..." he looks at his hands "Well before you are no longer you"
Kasbis kneels down to inspect the miner, assessing his health, the nature of what has afflicted him, trying to determine what is going on. “What happened to you? What does that .. thing .. do to you?” He stays on guard, ready to fend off any attack from the miner, who may be possessed by some foul spirit.

The miner looks at his hands "I don't know, but more and more of me is becoming this blackness. I don't know if I am dying or if I am turning into something. My mind is not my own, sometimes I go blank and I find myself somewhere else in this mine. Am I losing my mind? You should leave while you have the chance"
Hearing this is magical from Aisha, Kasbis tries again, this time gripping his ring tightly and blurring his eyes as he looks at the miner, trying to determine what has happened.

Aisha is concerned for the miner, she's seen people desperate for treatment that can't be provided and that feeling is back. "What have you seen when your mind is your own?"
"I find myself tired as if I have been digging for a long time and I think there are others or was that a hallucination?" the miner grips his head "I...I what am I turning into?" There is panic in his voice
“What are you mining for? What does this… thing… have you looking for, if you have any connection to it or sense its thoughts in some way. We want to help you - and all of the miners. But we need to know what it is after.” Kasbis looks down at the miner, but keeps his head moving, looking in the distance, scanning for movement. Quietly, to Aisha and Duncan, he says “We need to move. We hurt it, but we need to finish it.”

On closer inspection his hands seem almost translucent.
