After his performance and failed recruitment, Bruz attempts to finagle his way into free lodging at the arena even if it's only a well worn bench to pass out on. Failing that, he will find an inn near the arena to stay in.
OOC: trying to take advantage of his gladiator background to get free lodging for "performing."
Staying with Bruz and Carolinas for a time, Sebastian kept up with the dwarf at first but quickly realized the dwarf would easily surpass him in any drinking contest. Choosing to remain incontrol of his wits he slowed down considerably. He still maintained the guise that he was continuing to intoxicate himself though.
After watching Carolinas cast an illusion spell in order to slip away, Sebastian thought he might do the same and see what else he might get into while ashore. The dwarf seemed single minded in his need to drink and fight. Sebastian was more interested a different kind of companionship.
[ooc]Sebastian that first day looks for temporary companionship the rest of the evening eventually ending up at a brothel if he has no luck on his own.
The following time ashore, he looks for rumors and stories of recent Sahuagin activity.
Sal will have spent some time with Rook, attempting to help answer any more questions he has while attempting to see the sights of the town, and maybe look into purchasing any new goods that could be traded in the next town they sail to.
(OOC: Let me know if there's anything else you want any rolls for anything)
Rook's demeanor has greatly improved as the day has gone on after Sal being so kind as to talk to him about his concerns. He is walking around with her, smiling and taking in all of the sights, sounds and smells of a new port. He will leave Sal be if she wishes but is otherwise happy to have company while exploring. He pays attention during any dealings with merchants for regular supplies or especially trade goods and he's always watched from afar, never really learning much about the actual business of things.
At night Rook will return to the ship for rest, not having become a fan of the joys of a stay at a good Inn yet in his young life. He'll stow his bag of fruit and any other small treats he has picked up, before returning to the deck to walk about and look at the docks from that vantage point. He lies in any netting on the ship and looks up at the stars and may even sleep there if the cool ocean breeze does not chase him down to his bunk.
Bruz - Without any serious difficulty, Bruz is able to find lodgings near the fight pits - with or without company as he chooses. Other than a momentary awakening when a drunken reveler mistakes his room for Bruz's, the night passes uneventfully.
Sebastian - As the night progresses, hanging in an inn that caters to the rough and tumble of the gladiator fighters proves to 'ease' relationships and he is able to find suitable friendship and accommodation without any problems.
OOC - Bruz is a half-orc, not a dwarf.
The next morning, Sebastian's inquiries produce strange answers. While a ship did report on an attack by Sahuagin to the North, there are also stories going around of unusual events, attacks and magic on some ships that left Baldur's gate. Cargo bursting into flame, undead breaking out of crates and attacking, water suddenly filling a hold without leaks, all finishing with a red flash and scorch marks.
OOC - I'll post goods prices tomorrow.

OOC Soooo.... anyone doing more ashore? I forget how and when the PC's are getting paid for their labors so they have coin for the next stop. I assume those that have left the ship in this port were paid. Rook will probably be getting the least, of course, based on his rank/job, but he's ok with that!
By the way, since I enjoy playing with all of you... If anyone knows of a PbP game here that needs another player but isn't taking applications on the main forum yet, please consider letting me know. Could use 1 more game to round out my D&D fix! Thanks!
Sebastian does not return to the ship the first night, but on the evening of the second, he strides up the gangway.
If the Captain is on board, Sebastian informs him about the strange things happening on board other ships. “At least we are not the only ship havin issues Cap’n. The strangeness is part of somethin’ bigger in scope, all from Baldur’s Gate though.”
Upon Carolinas's return Rook pesters him, excited about their visit to port and mumbling as he chews on a large chuck of apple. "Carolinas! How was your day? Would you like an apple? Did you go to the library or something? Learn anything good?! It was so neat to sea a whole new port and the market and the people and all of the stuff they have here! I was wondering, where are you from, if you don't mind me asking? What made you join the crew? Do you love the sea like I do?!" As has become his custom, the young man just stops talking abruptly and stares at the wizard with raises eyebrows and an expectant look.
(Beyond the waiting for trade good prices, Sal's pretty much done on the land)
"At ease, Rook." Sal says. "Remember, questions are always good, but don't overload someone with them." She chuckles, headed towards her cabin with her basket of fruit (and potentially other goods dependant on the above)
Carolinas is overloaded with questions, but he shows no sign of annoyance.
"It's quite alright Sal. It's only natural to be full of energetic in youth. I'd love an apple my lad, and yes I went to the local wizard's library to learn about some of the monsters we encountered...or may encounter..."
He sits down somewhere comfortable with the fresh apple, takes out his notebook, and places it on the table. He waves a hand over it, casting Mage Hand. The book lifts off the table by a spectral hand and it turns the pages to a freshly written and illustrated page around 1/4 of the way through as he takes a large bite of the apple. The book turns and the pages are visible to Rook (and anyone else in the galley). There are notes regarding its esthetics, strength, etc along with his artist rendition of it.
"The tentacle monster that attacked us was this—a Water Weird. Definitely not to be underestimated. As for where I'm from...I lived close to Waterdeep in my youth, out in the woods as a hermit, but upon discovering a talent for book learning and wizardry—I started spending most of my time in libraries and universities, both teaching and learning magical and historical lore. My life's work is to create a centralized information center free of charge to all, so right now I am tasked with gathering information about the sea and recording it for future generations. I suppose it is more appropriate to say I love the prospect of understanding and unlocking the unknowns and mysteries of the sea, rather than loving being *at* sea."
His owl Archimedes lands on Carolinas' shoulder as he finishes responding to Rook.
Rook looks a little embarrassed as Sal reminds him of his manners. He tosses Carolinas an apple and then watches, eyes wide, as the book is presented to him via the spectral hand. "Water weird? Neat! It was pretty great to see one, huh? Well, except that it probably almost sunk the ship, huh? I guess it's better not to see any monsters, but I've never seen any before, so... Why did it come after us, Carolinas?" He remembers to stop asking questions after one this time, thanks to Sal. "This is a good drawing," he adds, although muffled as he takes another bite.
Seeing Carolinas on deck. “Carolinas! You sly sea dog. That was quite a trick the other night. The look on Bruz’s face when you faded into mist was fantastic! How’d you do it, you gotta tell...” Sebastian stops mid sentence as he notice the pen floating by itself and realizes he might be interrupting something. “Er Sorry fer jumpin’ into yer conversation. You seem ta be busy. we can talk later.”
*NOTE* The ship's route will be taking it on a clockwise tour of the Moonshaes before heading back to Baldur's Gate. The next port is the Snowdown - a cold land that spends much of it's year in cloud-covered gloom. The various towns are run by a variety of leaders, but Caer Westphal's leader is a known vampire of less than evil nature, but not good. The laws of the land prevent certain items from landing ashore, but the Captain quietly lets certain people know that he will be smuggling these items in, concealed in lead-lined boards built into the walls of the ship. Items available for investment are:
Fresh Fruits & Vegetables 1gp per lb
Thick Textiles 1 gp per 10lbs
Continual Light Rods (contraband) 100 gp each
Empowered Holy Symbol (contraband) 300gp each
Building materials 1 gp per 100lbs
Fresh Grains 1gp per 300 lbs
Passengers 20gp each
Passenger have to pay a more significant fee to land, as the Island of Snowdown is a very restrictive port. Certain classes of people are forbidden from disembarking at any spot - Priests of either alignment, Paladins, etc. Open worship is suppressed, but private practices are tolerated. People who wish to go to Snowdown do so during the daylight, when there is sun, or otherwise protected from observation by the leader. Or else they do so in a remote spot.
Travel time is three days, plus two more offshore.
Sebastian's observations are confirmed by the Captain "The various ship's Captains I've spoken to are saying much the same , laddie. There is some magic sabotage happening - nothing devastating but some deaths and plenty of damage to ship's and cargo. This is a bad sign, seeing how random it is. Not every ship but a few each sailing. "

Sal isn't one to deal in contraband, but will not put that against the captain. It is his ship and his decision. She will, on the other hand, want to buy some fresh produce, as a snowy region will find it difficult to grow a healthy amount of fruit and vegetable in that climate. She'll also buy a single large bundle of fresh grain (just double checking you get that much for 1gp though. Seems pretty large) and look around for buying a new chest to place the excess items in, wanting to keep things within her own room again, where she can Purify Food and Drink in order to keep the freshness during their journey.
Carolinas says to Rook, "I can't exactly say why it attacked the ship, but it was certainly drawn to us somehow...as were those two undead ogres. From an academic view, I'd like to see it again and possibly take a sample for study, but as you say, without endangering us all. So what did Sal and yourself get into today? Archimedes here found both of you in town earlier. By the way, can you explain that transformation that happened to you during that ogre fight?"
Seeing that Sebastian's inquisitiveness, he gladly responds with a smile, "Oh, just a simple magical illusion. I didn't want to risk getting into a fight with one of the drunken patrons and slipped away quietly."
Carolinas does not wish to deal with contraband and he doesn't judge the captain or any of the others for doing so, none of his business, but he believes it might do some good against evil forces in the icy land so he discreetly purchases a light rod. He is, however, keen on purchasing some more legitimate goods to sell, after making a little profit from his initial investment and from his half-elf passenger who is still on board.
Ooc: Sorry for not posting. Just got back from my vacation. Hope everyone is doing well.
Since its a new day, im assuming I made it back to the ship.
After spending the day at the market, S'ika returned to her cabin and had a pretty rough night on her top bunk. At one point almost falling off.
As morning came, S'ika slowly opened her eyes and groaned. She really did not want to get up. After about 30 minutes, she finally decided to get off of her butt and meet some of the people she will be traveling with. After grabbing her favorite lute, S'ika slowly walked onto the deck. As she took her first step outside, she quickly pulled her hood forward as the sun was too bright for her. She stood there for a second to look around at the many faces she saw. Most were already in conversation, so she went to find a nice little corner on the deck to sit in.
S'ika does not care if an item is considered contraband. If she needs it, she will get it. An at this moment, it seems like she might need it. She also considers how much food and other items she will need in a cold climate. She has never been to a place like that, so she will just buy a random amount and hope that it its enough.
Bruz returns to the ship during the early afternoon of the 2nd day after sleeping off a hangover in the lower quarter. Takes care of whatever duties are required of him while he's there and makes his own buy-in for the ship's cargo.
Purchases: -27 lbs of fresh fruits/vegetables (27GP) -200 lbs of building materials (2 GP)
When Sebastian hears rumors of smuggling goods into the next port, he grins. Thinking to himself “I knew my skills would come in handy. They always do.”
