I am near. I know we’re kinda waiting for one more Perception/Survival check to determine our surroundings. (And thus locking me into my spells known and cantrips).
Y’all find either a medium sized cave with a entrance small enough to be defensible-probable about 30 by 50 ft, with the entrance 10 by 10, or a slot canyon that goes about 150 feet into the side of a mountain, and is about 10 ft wide all the way until the end, where it upens up to 20 for about 30. However, you don’t have any cover from the top with this choice.
Which do you choose and how do you spend the first of the seven days you have?

Tun suggests that the cave is the better choice. "I've heard of flying kobolds." He also says, "we should definitely make some pit traps near the entrance to the cave, cover them with hides and camoflage them. I have stakes for the bottom of the pits."
Unless we have someone with mold earth, I will spend my time digging. if not, I will be making some large stakes to make an X palisade using hempen rope and log stakes.
Ashen volunteers his magical abilities to Mold Earth. Keep in mind that he can move 5’ cubes of dirt only 5’ at a time so no 10’ deep pits since the dirt would fall back in before it left the pit. But we have time for some sizable trenches and long mounds.
Also, he will instruct the non combatants to help gather dozens/hundreds of throwing sized stones to be gathered in a pile inside the cave that strategically can be touched 3 at a time by Ashen and then grabbed easily by 3 of our 4 warriors without interfering with line of sight out of the cave, nor bumping into each other.
”Do we want to set up a couple of lines of defense? One outside (with another pile of rocks/trenches) where we could “thin the herd” before falling back to the cave?”
Can we send the non-combatants to gather food for the cave? Not sure how safe that is - don't want women and children being attacked while we are working on the defenses.
You’d feel pretty safe sending them to do so-they so it all the time and, in the backstory for this encounter the leader of the kobolds promised to give you a week in exchange for a favor that you’d done him.

Tun's Survival Check: 13
Sweet! That brings it to 45. We only need one more.

Can I use the Help action to give advantage to the last roll? :-)

I’d say probably not, cause you’re all looking together anyway.

That’s fair. You know I had to ask though, right? <wink wink nudge nudge, say no more>

All right! So at the end of the week, what do you reckon the defenses look like?
