I would say non-combatants deep in the cave. A shrub sized X shaped palisades made of sharpened logs then a 5 ft deep light mud moat with wooden pikes underneath that is 15 ft length and surrounds another X shaped palisades that is now human sized that circles the entire cave mouth. I would say there's also a large spiked log -ball fastened at the cave ceiling (depending on how high it is) that will swing down when the belaying rope is cut. It will swing high enough that the ground combatant is untouched but will surely hit any flyers.
And if anyone wants to change that, please feel free to add or detract from it. This is just how I envisioned our defense.

I like this, but don’t fully understand what the palisades and moat looks like. Is there a path through the defenses or did we “paint ourselves in a corner”? I had asked earlier about a first line of defense, a place outside of the cave to make a first stand before retreating, if necessary to the cave. Can this palisade/moat be used for that? How far from the entrance is it? If does become a first line to be manned, we’ll want small piles of throwing stones out here as well. Maybe I should be saying throwing pebbles. Magic Stone doesn’t care about the size, but size will matter if they pick them up to throw back at us.
I was going to say utilize or manufacture full coverage for the non-combatants either in back or sides of the cave. Create or utilize natural features to make small “shield walls” just inside the opening to provide 1/2 to 3/4 coverage for ranged attacks and force filter ground troops into single or double file to “breach” the cave.
Warriors to be equipped with spears and as many javelins as possible (scarcity). Piles of throwing stones (pebbles) on the inside of both sides of the entrance. (Not sure if Ashen could end up on either side throughout the siege.)
These warriors have pack tactics but we do not. So they, ideally would always be within 5’ of an ally while attacking (ranged or melee). I was thinking 3 of the 4 warriors with me on one side of the entrance and the 4th with the remaining PCs. Each of the 8 of us would carry (easily accessible) a single Goodberry. Everyone instructed that they are to be used to revive a fallen comrade. The way I see it is to use your action to force feed the one you’re carrying to revive a friend and then they still have theirs to possibly revive you later. The two remaining Goodberrys could be assigned to our bravest non-combatant to play the part of sneaky medic to resupply the first two uses, that is, if they see it happen.
All non-combatants should be given some form of self-defense, i.e. pointy stick. Just in case a kobold with 1 hp manages to reach them.
All of this makes some sort of chaotic sense to Tun. He is meditating as he prepares himself for the coming of the kobolds. He is outside the cave, with a good view of the approaches.
It’s the evening of the seventh day. You’re all in the cave, non-combatants in the back behind a cover built from animal hides. As dusk falls, you hear a patter of feet in the distance, and a flapping of wings.
Roll initiative.
Note: Unless you have torches set out in places, you can only see about 60 ft (I’m guessing you have torches in the cave)

“This is it.” Ashen says somberly. He ensures his Mage Armor[ is still active, which he cast as the shadows grew long. He leans down and touches 3 stones to prep them for the next minute to embue the magic of Magic Stone for the three warriors that are with him. “Remember to start throwing once they’re in a range of 60’”, he reminds the warriors. “May the gods be with us, or welcome us, at their prerogative”, he says with resolution.
Joruk will take 4 warriors and and have them huddled near the entrance giving them range, Joruk himself will be near the entrance. he has darkvision 60ft so he will be able to attack right away as they come.
Alright. Ashen is up, then Hadrian. Ashen can see 3 groups of several kobolds each about 120 feet, about 30 ft apart each. Above the center of them about 40 ft in the air is a bunch of winged kobolds as well.

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Ashen will target one of the closest winged kobolds, figuring they could be upon us the quickest. And hopefully send the rest of their troops a demoralizing strike right away. Ashen squints to distinguish one of the dark object flying in front of a sky that’s holding onto the last remnants of sunset colors.

Genie’s Wrath adds 2bludgeoning damage on a successful hit.

Ashen is Drow and has darkvision to 120’ and Eldritch Blast with the same range. He will not want to have to wait to start thinning the herd.

Tun does not have dark vision. He will station himself where he can see the most of the other party members.

Ooh nice. You blast one of them right out of the sky.
Joruk?

(I guess I should have added, the one warrior that I control readies his rock to throw in case a kobold dashes/flies within 60’ this round.)

Joruk looks up to the sky. he orders the ground troops to look to the ones marching on the ground and to attack with javelins when they are in range.
Joruk spots a few shadows in the air highlighted by crimson sunset. He aims at the nearest one and releases one shot.
