As they finally escape the horde of zombies and make their way to the tavern, Blair dismounts from his horse. He can feel his horse's muscles twitching beneath him, still spooked from the chaotic scene they just escaped. He pats the animal's back, trying to calm it down, before turning his attention to the others, then glancing back to see how Cal and Beryl are doing. “We should keep the horses somewhere safe. I’m worried the zombies will get to them.”
To Quatt’s question, Blair lets out a small chuckle, a smile appearing on his lips. “That’s a lot of zombies, Quatt. Even for us earthwalkers.”
He brushes a stray tress of blond hair back as he approaches the tavern, gingerly pushing it open to see inside.
The door remains locked. Neither Blair or Eron can detect anyone inside the tavern on either floor, the upper or lower levels.
"Get inside yourselves inside," Beryl calls out to the party as she rides alongside the cart horses and Cal gets off mounting one of the cart horses.
The party given total cover by the front of the tavern has two choices. Get inside as quietly as possible or as quickly as possible! Beryl on Navar and Cal on the cart horse with the wagon behind mice away from the party down the road towards Westruun!
"We'll be back. Just trying to draw them away, " Cal messages Blair as they ride away with most if the zombies shambling towards them.

Quatt stands near the tavern, trying to find a bush to be near as he retreats slightly into his shell, trying to partially hide while still being able to act.
Stealth: 12
He whispers, "I am no good with locks, the Myconids didnt have any."
Eron sheaths both swords & grips his travelling cloak tightly about his scale mail armor to muffle any sound. He then takes a knee ensuring he has total cover. As he was near Quatt’s spore cloud he stifles a near sneeze. All of a sudden he realizes he didn’t see if Apple-Jack was okay, the look of dread is clear on his face, but he stoically stays put to not endanger everyone, while silently praying Apple-Jack is with Cal & the wagon.

Blair glides the dark cloak out of his pack and shrouds it around himself. The rich fabric, made of an exquisite material, seems to swallow him whole, blending him seamlessly into the shadows. He surveys the lock, his eyes scanning its intricate details, as he runs his slender fingers gently over its surface. “I'm not exactly a master lock-picker, but I could give it a go if there are tools,” he says quietly.
((Do we need to use thieves’ tools, or can we try pick the lock with something else?))
“Ah,” Blair carefully takes the needle, holds it up to the dim light, admiring its slender, sharp tip.
“Needle and thread in doting mother’s hand, turn out garments for her son out to roam the land.” He quotes with a wink, the words flow from his lips like a sweet melody, telling the old tales of a mother fearing her son’s belated return, as he gently inserts the needle into the lock.
Silf presses herself against the tavern wall, squatting her tiny frame as low as possible. She closes one eye and squints to watch Beryl and Cal ride away. Inspiration hits her and she almost inaudibly whispers, "mimblewimble," causing a violet glitterbomb to erupt (hopefully) striking Cal, Beryl, and the horses with even momentary faerie fire (if they're still within 60 feet that is). If they're in range they'll be covered in bright violent sparkles and become a very easy and obvious target for the zombies to follow.
The little fairy watches Blair and Eron messing with the door lock. She reopens her other eye. "I can fly up and see if there's a window open or broken on the second story maybe! Then I can come let us all in!"

Blair seems to be the only party member not drawing attention to themselves but Silf casting of faerie fire on Beryl and Cal gets the attention of all the visible zombies who shamble off towards them staying fairly close but far enough ahead to not take damage from the swinging weapons or gnashing teeth of the zombies!
With Eron's unbending needle (sorry huh?) Blair however fails to unlock the door. Silf flying up to the second floor where a broken pane of glass allows her entry the small fey is able to come down stairs and unlock the door that's locked with a key from the inside by turning it! The door the creaks open for the party to pass through it into the darkened tavern!

Blair's lips curl into a smile as Silf successfully opens the tavern door from the inside. "Well done, Silf. You’re a natural. We may have to keep that in mind when we run a heist someday.” He jokes. He hands the needle back to Eron and steps inside the tavern, looking to see if there’s anyone around.
Nobriki wasn't really actively participating in either being stealthy or perceptive! 😉. Instead he was more worried about covering his traveling companions backs while they worked on the door to the tavern. Once it is open he will try and usher the others in, walking backwards to keep an eye on any nearby enemies. Once in the door he will slam and lock it and proceed to find something to barricade the door with. He's also looking around for a window to keep an eye out for Cal and Beryl returning so as to let them in. He wonders aloud...
"You know, I'd be surprised if there wasn't a back door. Maybe that would be a good way forto come in when they get back... Or a bad way for zombies to get in...". He says while scratching his Billy goat style beard.
OOC, should he need either a stealth or perception check soon, I'll roll so it's available.

Silf gives a tiny chuckle as she reaches the door. It was really difficult for her to not get distracted on the way down from the second floor, but she managed to avoid "shiny button" syndrome. As she unlocks the door and pulls it open, she says, "We really showed those zombies!"
The little fairy glances around the inn: Perception 2, but there's so much going on that her thoughts are very preoccupied.
“If your still here please show yourself, we are here to help. Do you know how any of this happened?” persuasion5
Eron replaces his needle, “If anyone is still hurt I have some goodberries left, Nobriki may have a few extra also, just ask.”. He then heads upstairs to the window. perception17

Silf seems preoccupied with the door, trying to press her face against it to peer through. With sudden inspiration she drops to the ground and looks under the door frame. If she can see the patch of earth in front of the door she casts mold earth to create a five-foot hole right in front of the tavern's door.
"Haha! That will trip them up!" She laughs, turning and walking back to the center of the building. She walks to the bar and looks potent, potentially flammable alcohol. After a few moments she remembers: "I dug a hole in front of the tavern door! Be careful if you step outside or you might take a little tumble!"
The little fairy giggles again as she continues her search.
((Should I roll investigation to find this? If so, 5))
As Silf crafts the pit easliy outside the door but cannot see much else. Meanwhile Blair looks around the tavern and can tell there was a struggle within the large room. There are over turned tables and chairs scattered about. There's also a large ax burned deep in the bar and something smoldering in the fire. There isn't however a single sign of anyone on the first floor but as Blair listens there are sounds, only Blair can hear, above the party coming from the upper floor!
Eron then by passes the lower attempts to climb into the staircase. There he finds a barricade of broken items and random furniture blocking his progress ahead. He'll have to clear these objects to move forward.

Eron will remove the barricade obstructing the access to the upper floor. “Would anyone help me clear this debris please. I’d like to get up to the window and keep a look out for Cal and Beryl.”
Silf gives up looking for liquor bottles to turn into firebombs and walks over to Eron. "Of course I can help, dear Eron!" She closes her eyes and pumps a fist in the air, shouting "Handy Helper!" creating silvery, floating mage hand to help remove the debris from the stairwell.
"My hands are too small, but his hand works just fine for these sorts of things." She points over her shoulder as if introducing the hand as a friend of hers.
