As he was walking away, Alan laughed at the dwarf. "Yeah, they'll believe you're a guard, all right. I'm pretty sure almost everyone else in this city is a normal human. I don't think it would be too convincing." After chiming in, Alan continued away from the group and into the shadows.

"True, but if they know my people, they'll believe I was at the tavern." Fargrim yells back with a chuckle, just loudly enough for Alan to hear as he heads moves to get in position.
"I'm certainly not one for acting but I could attempt to stumble along while speaking something other than common. As useful as my mace is I can work without it immediately in my hand. Also if anything begins I can illuminate the area allowing those ranged to have a better look at what they are shooting. Or I could simply the traveling companion on my fellow Cleric here assisting where help is needed."
"Oh Solaster, my good man - I'm sure you are a natural at it. And even if your thespian skills fall a little short, I'm sure there will always be roles for you in the action plays..."
"That's a great plan. Let's walk up and see what they are up to, then. Pretending to be drunkards might not get us further than being told to clear off though. I suggest we pretend to be with whoever stole the box. We can say that we wanted to confirm they are ready to meet before bringing it and hope that the bluff lands. We can show them the note too. I don't expect it will get us far but I am sure it will lead to them revealing if they are with this Ungaroth. Then I'll try to use a little trick to send them to sleep, and we can ambush them."
Hoping that everyone is in agreement on the plan, Taman aims to take the note from Arynn and is ready to approach the figures.

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
While the others are getting ready with their act, Arynn attempts to keep to the shadows and move to an advantageous point. He'll pass Taman the note before splitting from the group.

Fargrim dons his shield once more, hiding it under the right side of his cloak. He wanted to look prepared, but not TOO prepared, and was thankful to Taman's superior plan for the added protection. He followed to the left and slightly behind Taman, mimicking a body guard or fellow employee as the situation may demand it. Fargrim finally pulled up the hood of his cloak, hiding his scar from immediate view of humans in this dim light. He watches the group by the gate as they approach, his dwarven eyes making easy work of the encroaching darkness. [Perception: 14]
Taman keeps his weapons sheathed and his hands visible as they approach the figures. He holds the note. Although he, Fargrim and Solaster are clearly armed, his demeanour is not immediately threatening. When they get near he speaks to the figures.
"Hail. Are you with Ungaroth? We are here for the meeting."
At the sound of Taman's words the figures all turned as if surprised and the larger figure turned and ran out the gate with something in his arms. The other 5 reach for weapons and the middle figure who had been speaking with the large figure who is retreating through the gate speaks, "You were not invited to the "meeting" and you will leave and forget anything you have seen here. If you know what is good for you"
When he spoke he put emphasis on the word meeting as if mocking your use of the word.

Taman casts Sleep at the one who is running away as soon as they begin fleeing.
(Not sure what initiative order we are going in but I will do initiative roll now. My intention would be for sleep to be centred on the runner and if there is enough HPs worth and they are close enough then for it to affect some of the others.)

Dark figure 1: 16
Dark Figure 2: 21
Leader: 9
Dark Figure 3: 17
Dark Figure 4: 3
Taman cast sleep on the one fleeing and he fell to the ground asleep , a chest falling from his hands and rolling through the gate. The leader growled and spoke to the other four in a menacing tone, "Kill them!"
Tall Figure (if caught): 2
(I'll allow the sleep spell as the start of combat the rest will be calculated into the initiative order since they were ready to fight already an you did not catch them off guard. Just waiting on the last 2 rolls)
The leader, leaving the other 4 to deal with the lot of you, turnsand runs to the fallen box lifting it up and running out the gate. His form beginning to disappear into the night. The rest with scimitars drawn stand at the ready to fight you.
Taman and Solastor are up
Arynn, if you want me to use the attack you already rolled on your turn just let me know.
(This might put Taman quite close to the henchmen who are between him and the leader but he will try to keep just out of melee range of them and hope that someone tankier can get between him and them quickly!)
(If the range is too far for laughter then Taman casts Sleep at the leader instead: 26)
