Marley rolls to his feet as the darkness clears, head spinning and arm burning from where the wererat bit him. Instinctively he slashes out at the wererat bodyguard with his shortsword.

That won't do it. You feel your mind go blank. As you simply do nothing. You can reattempt the save each round at the end of your turn. Which is now roll again.

(Sorry y’all. Hectic work week.)
Maz watches a bit confused as combat has broken out. He had not noticed the tensions rising and is mostly unaware of how they ended up here.
in more of a panic than on purpose Maz casts mantle of inspiration to protect himself and the party. Everyone would gain 5 temp HP.
Maz then will attempt to persuade the king into a battle of music.
“Excuse me. It looks as though you are a man of music. Let us put down these weapons and cease the violence. If I win, we leave, and of course I get your instrument used in our challenge. If you win, I will stay as your slave, give you my instrument, but my friends leave. Fair no? That is, unless you’re unskilled with your flute….”
DM: interesting, ok so I want everyone to agree on this path. If it goes wrong it's going to go bad and you will need to find a different way to make gold for the cart and horse
(Wow, interesting development! I was thinking Marley was maybe gonna die here if not possibly a TPK especially with Crunch failing his Wisdom saves, so not sure what to think. Don't want Maz to become a slave for a year either.)
(Apologies for the major twist there. I thought it was some good RP though given Maz’s confusion and lack of combat skill this is how he might try to solve the problem at hand. If y’all have other ideas I’m open to it. I do have a good performance modifier, and i have one bardic inspiration left I could cast on myself.)
(I'm okay with it too, from an RP standpoint I think Marley would be relieved as the battle wasn't going well. Yet also concerned for Maz, but this buys us some time at least.)
Ok we are going to press. I want to get through chapter 1 by years end cause we will be loosing crunch.
Que the devil comes down to Georgia.
King: I have no reason to take your deal. But as my ... guests I'll entertain you and take your challenge.
The Rat King monster turns back to his human form. He pulls the pan flute to his lips and plays. The tones echo the hall in a haunting echo. He blows the flute 2 more times
Without looking it up I'm going to say yes. Half your movement to stand BA to drink the potion so you can take a full action

Shortsword: Attack: 17 Damage: 10
Sneak: 12
Good sneak attack the body guard is bloody
Sacred Flame once more, if I can get two enemies next to each other. Dc13 dex save or 5
If I haven’t offended you, don’t worry. I’m sure I’ll get to you eventually.
Still need you to do a Wis save but to resist the command spell.
You can target the 2 if you save. There is a large group around Marley and Sam
Wisdom is either 0 or +1, can’t remember. 3

You simply watch the fight in a state of calm
Maz still to move
Crunch begins picking his nose

Mickey relaxes coming out of his rage

(I’m alright with it. Crunch is still just staring off into space.)

(But there’s also no way that Crunch is gonna allow for Maz to stay there.)
