Maz will attempt to charm the king and the wererat guard. both will need wis saves of 14 or better.
“Thank you for your service to your king, but even you must see that a deal was made and your king owes me that instrument now.” Maz calmly says to the guard.
“Your highness, king of the wererats. How will your people follow you if they see you are not a king of his word? Surely losing an instrument is less painful than loosing the trust of your people…?” Maz again speaks calmly lacing his words with charm as he attempts to persuade the king to hand over the instrument.
King: "Your honey words have no effect on me and besides I never agreed to your deal did I? I said I'll humor you and nothing more. Now you did beat me and fair is fair so you may leave and my wearrats won't touch you on your way out of my nest. Now GET OUT! before I change my mind"
The king turns and continues his walk out. His body guard reaches out to stop him.
Guard: "Sir acceptance is implied when you humored the challenge."
The king turns lightning fast transforming back into his monster form as he does. Ripping the throat of his guard out. Then without missing a beat he turns back into his human form. Points a one of the other wererats in the room.
King: "You, your my new body guard come with me."
The man in the robe laughs.
Robed man: "I'll be taking my leave now. I'm sure we will meet again. Maziara when you learn what you are the order will come for you. Till then tata for now."
A portal appears the man steps though and he's gone.
Marley's expression on the other hand goes through an almost comical series of changes as relief shifts into surprise, dismay, then relief again. "Yes, let's get out of here..." he responds quickly to Crunch.
The party turns to leave. Walking into the main hall you see a sea of Rats all starring at you. The swarms part as you walk through staying just outside your reach.
Mickey: "Guys I don't like this. He said none of his wererats would attack us so you think these guys count?"
Marley looks around anxiously at the multitude of rats, stopping to light a torch. "I don't think so..." he says as he waves the torch around, but doesn't sound very confident.
The party is left alone but directed out the ramp that leads up towards the city.
As you exit the Nest the door slams shut behind you. You hear a latching sound as the door is sealed. Ahead of the party is a line figure on the edge of the light.
"The king sends his regards and states he let you leave his nest unharmed but now you must die as punishment for killing a member of his pack."
The figure pulls up a pan flute you would recognize as the flute the king had. He blows a tune.
Rats swarm from holes in the wall creating a semi circle around the party.
DM: I rolled the party gets to act first. The figure is 45 feet away and there is 2 swarms of rats between you. Y'all are up
