Although making it easily over the stones, Zylo is still fairly slow crossing over them, and as he gets back to land, he says quietly, "I can't sing, it's one of my weaknesses."
Although making it easily over the stones, Zylo is still fairly slow crossing over them, and as he gets back to land, he says quietly, "I can't sing, it's one of my weaknesses."
Valrieth, barely waist-high to the big dragonborn nods sympathetically. "Me neither," she says. "I mean, I hum to myself sometimes, but I really don't like 'performing' a song. Of course, when you're facing a big elemental...well, desperate times call for desperate measures!" She doesn't sound like she's making a joke. More like she's honestly equating singing for a stranger with being backed into a corner by a stronger opponent and forced to fight.
Val suggests, "I could wait here behind the trees while you two go talk to the bullywugs. See whether you can work out an arrangement to rest there, and then we just have to figure out how to sneak me in. And see whether you can find out about the former owner, Duke Ickrind."
Val can cast Guidance on Zylo, and Zylo can cast Guidance on Iali to ensure that they both have some boost to their social graces.
As they walk, Iali's wings fade into translucent shimmers and disappear.
She looks over at the ruined building and turns back to Val. "Yes, stay here for a moment."
She walks over to the ruined doorway and pokes her head in.
"Good afternoon, gentlefolk. Is there somewhere weary travellers may rest a while? Maybe I could help you with your repairs in return for safe haven for my friend and I?"
One of the older bullywugs look at Lali "I suppose if you put in a day's work you can rest in my home on the South side of Downfall. Do you have any experience with carpentry or thatching?"
The older Bullywug says "Well then its grunt work for you. Carrying, lifting, clearing and some mending as you say. Now let's get to work." Soon the burned balloon factory is abuzz with the sound of hammering, sawing, and dismantling of burned pieces of wood.
Zylo nods and moves to the door after Iali and catches the last bit of conversation, "I'm strong, that's about it, I suppose if that means all three of us can stay here?"
"Oh, damn."Zylo mutters before saying, "Dear friend, it appears that you'll have to do some work as well if we want to stay here." He turns to look in the direction of Val.
While first Ialia and then Zylo walk over to the building, Valrieth starts looking around the area where she's hiding in the wooded area. Are there any large gourds growing nearby? Or any very large leaves, either fallen leaves on the ground or within 30-ft of her in the trees? Perception: 16 (or 13 if it should be Nature or Survival)
Val cannot Wild Shape at the moment, and she doesn't have a good way to disguise herself when she's not just hidden. She wonders whether she can hastily assemble a sort of hood or mask of leaves (not the mask part, just the wreath of leaves around her face) or even just a single leaf with eye holes (if the leaves are large enough). Or if there's a solid panel of bark or a large gourd, she could just put eye holes in that. Prismeer is a strange place, and she thinks that a masked nature priest would be less noticeable than a wanted harengon.
Perfect! If the gourd is big enough, Valrieth will use her scimitar to cut it open to make a sort of hat or helmet out of it with holes for her eyes. If she can find a couple of short branches, she sharpens one end and pokes them into the "top" of the helmet to suggest antlers. Then, if she has time before Zylo is calling for her to come to the building, she'll try to affix some leaves to the "face" of the helmet and hanging down over her cheeks. She hopes that if she wears this gourd headdress and keeps her cloak pulled tightly around her body, it'll be less obvious that she's a harengon and not some sort of fey cervid.
Once Val has created her helmet / mask, she slings her shield over her back, puts on the gourd mask, and approaches the building, holding her cloak tightly around her body with one hand. At the entrance, she raises her arm and tries to say impressively: "I ... am one of the 'Wise Ones', and I have crossed Hither through the swamps and through the skies from the Causeway and the Leaning Tower to Downfall. You may call me: 'Wisdom.' I may be small, but I can save your workers time carrying things up and down ladders." Val uses her telekinesis (i.e., invisible mage hand) to lift a board or hammer or something else not too heavy from the work site and make it float through the air to the fore-bullywug. After they take the tool that's now floating in front of them, Val casts Guidance on herself and says, "I can also use fey magic to help improve the effectiveness of your laborers today. Allow me to assist you in your work here." Persuasion: 5 + 4 (from Guidance) = 9
(OOC: Let me know if Val also needs to roll a skill check for creating or using her gourd helmet / mask.)
(OOC: Oof! Not too persuasive. I guess it doesn't matter whether Valrieth is casting spells or doing manual labor, but I just thought that she'd be more effective with her magic. In any case, she won't be able to Short Rest if she's helping at the work site. Maybe it's better if she just waits / rests nearby if they let her.)
The older Bullywug has a skeptical look and is not persuaded. "Well Wisdom spells be fine an all, but I expect hard work out of you. Which means lifting as you said and using your own hands to work hard." he presents Wisdom with a hammer and a bag of nails. "Get to hammering those planks and if I see 1 bent nail you are out"

Val sees a gourd in the water at D3. The same gourd used by Clapperclaw.
There are also plenty of fallen leaves.
