Val with a 13falls back onto the boat below taking
2 bludgeoning damage.
Valrieth slips and falls, and the Fates continue to laugh at her struggles. She makes a high-pitched grunt as she lands back in the boat.
Once Zylo successfully climbs the rope, she suggests, "Maybe Iali can fly down and carry me up to the balcony?" Val is barely 3-feet tall. Iali could take two trips: one for Val's backpack (~40 pounds) and another for Val (~80 pounds including armor and other gear).
If Val is too heavy for Ialito lift, then she'll attempt to climb the rope again. But she suggests that they first throw a second line down to her to use as a sort of belaying rope. She could tie the rope around herself, and Iali and Zylo could reel the other end of the rope in from their position on the balcony, wrapping it around the railing for leverage. That way, if Val slips again, the other rope will hopefully prevent her from falling!
Iali looks over the balcony to watch her crew climb up. She claps Zylo on the back as he reaches the balcony, but grimaces as she sees the harengon hit the boat. She sends a Message down to Val: "Wait there, I'll come and get you."
Iali flaps her wings and dives back to the bottom of the tower to collect Val. (Strength: nat 20 for 19 if needed)
Zylo nods at Iali and looks down towards Val and starts to say something but decides against it before looking around the area making sure no one heard or saw what happened. (Nice crit! Perception if needed: 19)
The party now together on the balcony. The door and windows are shut and locked. There is still no sign of Bavlorna or her Lornlings. Even with Zylo's sharp eyes. As for sound nothing amiss.
"I don't think we've been found out, but a scout would be beneficial as we progress." Zylo whispers, "What exactly do you know that's coming up that we got to watch out for?" He looks to Val.
"I don't think we've been found out, but a scout would be beneficial as we progress." Zylo whispers, "What exactly do you know that's coming up that we got to watch out for?" He looks to Val.
Valrieth reminds them again, "Other than the hag herself, I've encountered a Will-o'-Wisp inside. The hag is also able to create 'Lornlings,' miniature copies of herself who can attack with blinding speed. That's why I said: if we're going to enter without an invitation, we may want to storm through the hut with our magical defenses already running. If we wait until we see a Lornling, it'll probably be stabbing us repeatedly before we can act."
Those are just the threats that Val knows about. She's more worried about things that she hasn't anticipated: "But I fear that the hag has now had time to prepare other nasty surprises for us. She sews together parts of different animals into awful, chimeric creations. Some of them are just lifeless taxidermy. Others might be more like what she did to Octavian. Emptying him out but keeping him alive, turning into some sort of tragic construct! Perhaps Bavlorna has had time to animate some of her other awful beasts." She remembers the horrible eight-legged monstrosity that she saw the first time she was here.
"And who knows what her magic can do!", Val says. She reminds them that if they do find Bavlorna, one of them needs to run in circles (counterclockwise) while fighting the hag to prevent her from using her magic. And it would be good to keep at least one of them close to the hag because, otherwise, Bavlorna can fire a powerful necrotic ray. "If she bites you, she'll probably hold on, but I can try to blast her back if I'm right behind you."
Val plans to stay close to Zyloand Ialiwhile keeping out of Bavlorna's reach. With just the 3 of them, she fears that getting too far from the others just invites the Lornlings to swarm her.

Valrieth says, "Since we don't have Finley here, I guess the only way to open the door is via magic. But that will certainly announce our arrival!" If Zylo and Ialiagree that they're just going to "storm the castle" instead of trying to sneak around Bavlorna's hut, then Val won't bother with Pass Without Trace. They should feel free to cast any long-running defensive spells, like Spirit Guardians or Mage Armor, first, before they open the door.
Val thinks that they can dash through Bavlorna's hut in just 10 minutes. As far as she knows, Bavlorna cannot turn invisible, and the hut isn't that large.
"I will be ready to cast mine once we know trouble is afoot, it is stronger magic and I can only attempt it so many times."Zylo scratches the back of his head, "If I get hit hard enough I have to recast it, so could be trouble if I waste it early."He does prepare to dodge, if they go with opening the door.
Valrieth nods and prays that Zylo has a chance to cast the spell before he's killed by a flurry of attacks from Bavlorna's Lornlings. Then she casts Guidance on herself and takes a deep breath.
Val hoists her shield and gets ready to dodge in case something attacks them as they open the door or step inside. Then she looks to Iali and says, "OK, Iali. I think we're ready for you to open the door."
